ELIOT’S POV

“Sir, there’s a woman online saying she’s your mistress and pregnant with your child!”

I looked over at him, not even bothering to respond to such ridiculousness. “The video is all the place, sir. Everywhere.”

Still didn't respond. This wasn't the first time news like this went live, why was he reporting to me instead of handling it? I had too much going on already, too much packed up in my head. And for what it's worth, I wanted to sit with it for a while. At least until I understood how to go forward from here on.

But still John stood unmoving. Gaze stern. “This is serious, Sir." He said, "It isn’t one of those random ruses, or bid for attention on the blogs. Even if it is, Mrs Beckett is getting dragged for it."

What?

Mrs. Beckett? Serena?

Now that caught my attention.

“What do you mean my wife is getting dragged?” I stood up then, abandoning the corner to approach my desk. The laptop there. John too.

“It all started around 10:15am today on a local b

  • THE GLASS WIFE; the storm he built himself    Chapter 178

SERENA'S POV Upon entering the really comfortable looking and feeling vehicle, I quickly settled for a window seat. One not too close to the exit and not too down into the vehicle either, cause If there was something I intended on doing, it was enjoying this trip.It was my official first road trip and permit me, I was pretty excited. Almost missed it, but still excited. Others settled in too, in pairs with their close friends, and I was already thinking how I wished I had someone cause it would most definitely be nice to share the view and all. Anyways my wish was granted. I got someone, but before properly learning his name he got practically chased out of the seat by a certain somebody too hot blooded for a roadtrip.Eliot.To say I was surprised would be an understatement. I was speechless. Especially at his method to get him out and replace him on the seat beside me.I swear I'd forgotten all about him for a moment. Hell, I hadn't thought about him at all with all the packing a

ELIOT'S POV "Okay sir!" I jerked, startled by the sudden intrusion. My eyebrows squeezing immediately, a scowl forming on as an absolutely oblivious John showed up in front of me. Blocking my view with smiles on his annoying face. "Let's do it as we practiced, alright?" He said, "Follow the script. Stick to the script, you have to stick to it no matter what. Be gentle. Women like gentle."I just narrowed my eyes. Turned away from him, my irritation growing, eyes returning back to the vacant pathway leading from the road to show when a person drives in. "Why isn't she here yet? Didn't you call to remind her?" I muttered, checked my watch and then at the buzzing persons in front of the white executive coach waiting to be used. "I did call her, sir." John said, "She's on her way, I know it.""And if she's not?" I faced him, features tight. "What if she's not coming, what then? What's the plan then? Instead of standing around talking here, go make sure she gets here. Else you're not

SERENA'S POV "Are you kidding right now? You're going on a trip together? Together??""No, we're not. The team is going on a trip.""What's the difference? He's going to be there, and so are you!""But we're not going together. The team is!" I bellowed, totally exasperated at this point. "Oh my God, Axel. Just please." "You please," he argued, stopping at a traffic light. "First you keep going over there, and now a trip? Are you trying me you don't see this is all arranged? That he isn't doing all of these on purpose, Rena?? C'mon!"Eliot did admit it.He admitted to planning it all. For us he said. I hadn't even gotten a chance to internalize any of that yet. We hadn't reached home. My home.God I hated arguing with Axel.Hated it so much.Unlike Eliot where I could have a leverage over him, shut him up somehow, and walk out, I couldn't do that with Axel. It was different with him. The tables had turned. Somehow I had shifted from being the victim, to being the one in the wrong.Hi

  • THE GLASS WIFE; the storm he built himself    Chapter 175

SERENA'S POV Couple of minutes later after that, we headed out. Me to Ward Syndicate building and Axel back to his office. He'd taken a long break to come see me, and promised to pick me up as well.Which was fine because we would have dinner. We've been doing that a lot recently and as surprising as it may seem, I loved it.Insane delicious food + Axel explaining his experience outside the country when he attempted a cooking profession, I don't see why I won't love dinner.Other than that, it felt good. Warm, to have someone to share the night with not just having sex.Even if I wouldn't the sex.Frankly, if I was being honest. I wanted to check It out. I mean, I should. Maybe that way I'd see it's even better and permanently have no need to be thinking back at someone else.My package would be complete.Make sense, right?I probably sound like a slut right now, right?Yup. I do. Time to concentrate, concentrate Serena.I blinked my eyes, forcing stop all stupid thoughts and focusin

  • THE GLASS WIFE; the storm he built himself    Chapter 174

SERENA'S POV "You've been going there a lot lately. Shouldn't these visits be limited to calls? Video calls maybe?""They can't," I said, biting down on the pin in my mouth, between my lips. My hands on the mannequin in front of me, the fabric there. "We've signed the contract, yes. But they're also things I need to know to properly be on board with the team. I can't just let them do everything and not know what they're doing.""And what is wrong with that?" He retorted, "What is wrong with them doing everything and you nothing?"What?I paused right then, releasing a breath as I faced him fully. "Is there a problem here, Axel? Is something wrong because you've been acting real bossy towards me and I don't like that. I know what I'm doing, I'm not a child."He sighed, "I just don't want you going over there every time. Meeting him.""I'm not going there to meet Eliot.""But you do meet him. Don't you?"I opened my mouth to refute that, say I had no interest in seeing him and this wa

  • THE GLASS WIFE; the storm he built himself    Chapter 173

ELIOT'S POV "We will." I said in response, quick. Cause did she think I was going to let some dumb ass handle or be in such close contact with her as a team lead? I was the leader of this team. Her team. And I would make sure everything as regards to her goes on without a hinge. No offence but no team lead will be contacting my wife for whatever reason. I already had one bastard to deal with, needed no more. The meeting went on after that, rounding up. A few more pointers, re-evaluation of all that'd been talked about, everyone was dispersed. My feet rising and moving before I could think twice. The door to the conference room opened, she stepped out, and so did I. Our movements in sync. The staff behind us, murmuring. Whispering, but I could hardly care what it was about. My eyes were fixed on her. On her hair. The long, smooth black mass rooted in her scalp and falling back down to her waist. That same waist I remembered holding unto as she unraveled on top of my face. Twisting
