They had set off around 4 am and traveled down to Rockport from San Antonio. A 3 hours drive was made within 2 hours. Derrick drove like the devil was on his tail. With a map of Rockport and all canyon lakes around it, Derrick and his team explored the forest along the seashore, places where humans will normally not venture. They had metal detectors, shovels and mini drilling tools with them. But the landscape was too large to cover in a day so they divided it into four places and went about searching for signs of excavations, metals buried underground, building materials that could be left behind and anything that signified the presence of humans, be it recent or in the past. They found nothing. They had worked till sunrise and were just about to take a break when Derrick's phone rang. It was Rolph. " Boss." Ben had never felt that much pain in his life. He was convinced that the darkness that was approaching him was death and he welcomed it because it was better than the future he foresaw in his present state. While one took almost 2 hours due to weekend traffic, the latter took less than an hour because it was a private plane and fast. Within 3 hours, they were at Marfa, the plane touched down and a ranch truck came to pick them up.
