Mag-log inThe city lights stretched endlessly beyond the tinted windows, blurring into soft streaks of gold and white as the car moved through the night.
Inside, it was quiet.
Isabella lay against Alexander’s chest, her breathing slow and even, completely unaware of the world around her. One of her hands had unconsciously curled into the fabric of his shirt, fingers lightly gripping—as if she had found something steady and refused to let go.
Alexander didn’t move.
Didn’t adjust her.
Didn’t even shift his posture to ease the weight.
He let her stay exactly as she was.
His gaze lowered.
Messy hair falling across her face.
A faint crease between her brows, like even in sleep she refused to fully relax.
Her lips slightly parted with each quiet breath.
Unprotected.
Trusting.
Careless.
His fingers tightened—just slightly—against his own knee.
“…You really don’t know,” he murmured under his breath.
The car slowed.
“Sir, we’ve arrived,” the driver said carefully.
Alexander didn’t answer immediately.
His eyes lingered on her for a second longer.
Then—
“Open the door.”
The gates of Platinum Palace No. 6 slid open in silence.
By the time the car stopped, the housekeeper was already waiting.
“Sir.”
Alexander stepped out, still holding Isabella.
She didn’t stir.
Didn’t wake.
If anything, she leaned closer—her face brushing faintly against his chest, as if instinctively seeking warmth.
His steps paused.
Just for a fraction.
“…No need,” he said quietly.
The housekeeper froze, then lowered her head.
“Yes, sir.”
She stepped back.
No one followed.
Upstairs, the bedroom door opened with a soft click.
The room was dim, lit by a low amber glow. Everything was perfectly arranged—
until he walked in carrying her.
He crossed the room and placed her gently on the bed.
Slowly.
Carefully.
As if even the smallest mistake might wake her.
For a moment, his hand remained at her shoulder.
Not moving.
Not leaving.
His gaze dropped again.
She had turned slightly, her face half-buried in the pillow now, her fingers still curled faintly—as if searching for something that was no longer there.
Alexander’s eyes darkened.
His hand shifted—just barely—brushing a strand of hair away from her face.
Then he stopped.
As though suddenly aware of the line he was standing on.
He straightened.
Stepped back.
Distance.
“Call someone,” he said at last, his voice low again. “Have her clothes changed.”
A pause.
Then he turned and walked out.
Without looking back.
At Jason’s villa
“There’s a spy in the company, and there’s been a problem with our collaboration with HN. Right now, I can’t trust anyone—the only one I can rely on is you. Don’t tell me you have the heart to watch everything I’ve worked for my whole life be destroyed in one go?”
Mr. Cardwell sounded as though he was almost begging.
Jason tightened his grip on the phone.
“I won’t leave the entertainment industry. And I’ve already told you—I’m not taking over your company.”
“Jace, I’m not asking you to leave the entertainment industry. Whether you take over the company is your choice. I’m just asking you to spare some time and come back to help me.”
Jason was stubborn by nature. But hearing his usually domineering father—who ruled the house like a tyrant—sound so worn down for the first time…
He couldn’t refuse outright.
“I’ve been busy lately…” he said vaguely. “Let me think about it.”
After he hung up, Liam immediately leaned forward.
“Did something happen at your dad’s company? Family is important. I can help you adjust your schedule.”
Jason pressed his fingers against his temples, irritation and stress mixing together.
“But what about the movies I’m still filming? Don’t tell me I have to cancel everything?”
Liam fell silent for a moment, thinking.
“Not necessarily,” he said finally. “Land Under Heaven is a large-scale historical film. Productions like that take time. I can speak to the director and push your scenes to the later schedule. We’ll cover any losses during the delay. Director Phil should agree.”
Jason scratched his head in frustration.
“…Looks like that’s the only option.”
He let out a breath.
“Damn it. Why does everything feel like it’s falling apart lately?”
A pause.
“That deal with HN should’ve been finalized already. Nothing should’ve gone wrong. And now all this…”
His brows furrowed deeper.
The more he spoke, the more something felt wrong.
Then suddenly—
He froze.
“…Wait.”
His expression darkened.
And in the next second—
He slammed his fist into the mattress.
“Shit—!”
His voice dropped, sharp and certain.
“…Alexander.”
A cold laugh escaped him.
“You’re really that shameless, huh…”
Liam didn’t speak immediately.
He watched Jason carefully, trying to read him.
“…What does that mean?” he finally asked.
Jason didn’t answer right away.
He walked to the window instead, pushing the curtains aside slightly. The city lights spilled in, cold and distant, reflecting faintly in his eyes.
For a moment, he just stood there.
Then—
“He’s not just going after her.”
His voice was quieter now. Colder.
“He’s moving everything.”
Liam frowned. “You’re saying this is connected?”
Jason let out a low chuckle.
“You think it’s coincidence?”
He turned, leaning back against the glass.
“Timing is too clean. Too precise.”
A pause.
“First Isabella… then the company.”
Liam’s expression shifted, something more serious replacing the earlier confusion.
“…Then this isn’t just personal.”
Jason’s gaze darkened slightly.
“That’s the problem.”
Silence settled between them.
Heavy.
Measured.
Liam ran a hand through his hair.
“So what are you going to do?”
Jason didn’t respond immediately.
Instead, he picked up his phone again, staring at the screen—at that short, simple recording.
“I want her.”
His jaw tightened.
Then he scoffed, almost under his breath.
“…Arrogant bastard.”
But there was no real anger in it now.
Not just anger.
Something else had mixed in.
Something sharper.
“You know what’s funny?” Jason said suddenly.
Liam raised a brow. “This should be good.”
Jason tilted his head slightly, a faint, humorless smile forming.
“I thought I had time.”
“To do what?” Liam asked.
Jason didn’t look at him.
“…Figure things out.”
A pause.
“Decide whether I actually wanted to fight for her.”
Liam went still.
Jason let out a breath, dragging a hand down his face.
“But he didn’t wait.”
The room fell quiet again.
“…So now?” Liam prompted carefully.
Jason lowered his hand.
When he looked up this time, something had settled in his eyes.
“Now,” he said slowly, “I stop hesitating.”
Liam studied him for a second.
“…You’re serious.”
Jason gave a short laugh.
“Does it look like I’m joking?”
Another pause.
Then Liam leaned back, exhaling.
“…You do realize who you’re up against, right?”
Jason didn’t flinch.
“I know exactly who he is.”
His gaze flickered once briefly.
Then steadied.
“That’s why I can’t afford to lose.”
Liam’s expression turned complicated.
“…Is this about the company… or her?”
He didn’t answer.

The suite remained deathly silent except for Isabella’s uneven breathing.Alexander sat quietly on the edge of the bed while the girl stayed curled weakly against him, her trembling fingers clutching tightly onto his shirt as though terrified he would disappear the moment she let go.The scarlet rose petals scattered across the white sheets now looked almost ironic.Alexander lowered his gaze toward the top of her head. Her body still trembled from time to time. The drugs hadn’t completely worn off yet.His eyes darkened slightly.“Bella,” he called softly. No response.Only a faint hiccup.Alexander carefully brushed away the damp strands of hair stuck to her tear-stained face. Her swollen red eyes and the slap mark lingering on her cheek made the coldness in his gaze deepen instantly. However, when he spoke again, his voice remained unbelievably gentle.“Can you stand?”Isabella remained silent for a few seconds before giving a tiny nod against his shoulder.Alexander slowly helped
Julian stood lazily by the doorway with the room card still dangling between his fingers. The suite lights were dim.Soft music played quietly in the background while the scent of roses and expensive perfume lingered heavily in the air.“Tsk… Durges really went all out…” he muttered under his breath. The woman on the bed remained motionless.Rose petals were scattered across the sheets and over her body, partially covering the thin silk nightgown clinging tightly to her skin. From where he stood, all he could see clearly were her legs.Long. Pale. Barely concealed beneath the translucent fabric.Julian clicked his tongue.“No wonder that old bastard looked so nervous…”He stepped further into the room casually, intending to take one look before leaving. After all, no matter how beautiful she was, he had no interest in touching a woman another man had prepared.Too troublesome. However, just as he approached the bed, the woman shifted slightly.A weak sound escaped her lips.“Mmh…”Jul
When Isabella walked out of the hospital, it was already late into the night. There were no stars in the sky, and even the moon hid behind layers of dark clouds. Only a few scattered cars moved along the empty streets. She had to admit that although Vanessa’s plan had been crude and reckless, it had still achieved its purpose in the end.Reputation damage.Vanessa always attacked the things Isabella cared about most.Gabriel, for example. Her parents.Sometimes, Isabella even found herself doubting her own existence, wondering if everything truly was her fault. Was she really that unbearable? Was she truly so terrible that everyone around her eventually grew to hate her, despise her, and abandon her?For the first time in a long while, exhaustion seeped into her bones.Even if she eventually achieved all her dreams… even if she climbed to the top someday…Would anyone genuinely care?In the end, she was still alone.Isabella wandered absentmindedly along the roadside, completely lost
Vanessa immediately switched to a bashful expression the moment she saw Gabriel approaching.“It’s because of you…” she complained softly, hitting his chest in a flirtatious manner.Gabriel looked completely helpless. “You were clearly the one seducing me.”Then he lifted the plastic bags in his hands. “I bought chicken porridge for you so you can regain your strength.”Vanessa instantly smiled sweetly. “Thanks, babe.”The next scene began shortly after. It was one of the most important fight scenes in the movie—a confrontation within the bamboo forest between Glinda Clifford and Natalie Frostman.Seeing that Natalie had already completely lost herself to vengeance and could no longer be reasoned with, Glinda finally made her decision. If Natalie continued down this path…Then she had to die here. The martial arts instructor had spent over two hours teaching the two actresses the choreography. The couple returned to the dressing room with depressed and dejected expressions.Vanessa stood silently in front of Gabriel before a tear slipped down her cheek. Her voice trembled softly, fragile and pitiful.“Baby… do you blame me? Do you blame me for not agreeing to Bella’s request…?”Gabriel’s heart softened instantly. He reached out and gently wiped away the tear at the corner of her eye.“Why would I blame you?”Vanessa immediately threw herself into his arms as though she had just been saved from despair.“Thank you… thank you for believing in me and understanding me. It’s not that I can’t give up the wealth or status of the Hartley family. I just… I can’t leave Mom and Dad behind. The thought of never seeing them again…”Her voice broke halfway through.Gabriel sighed helplessly as he patted her back.“It’s okay. Stop crying. I understand.”His expression darkened slightly as Bella’s cold face surfaced in his mind.“I was too naive. I kept thinking she was still the same girl
At the film set—As soon as Isabella arrived, she was informed that the filming schedule had been changed. The reason was that Jason had suddenly taken leave due to family matters. That guy would complain beside her for half the day over things as insignificant as a fart, yet when something this major happened, he hadn’t mentioned a single word to her?She immediately pulled out her phone and called him.The moment the call connected, Jason’s irritated voice came through.“Why would I tell you about it? Weren’t you the one complaining that I disturbed you too much? Didn’t you tell me to mind my own business? Didn’t you want me to stay as far away from you as possible? Well, congratulations. Your wish has been granted.”Hearing his strange tone, Isabella’s temper instantly rose.“Jason, are you stupid or something? What the fuck did you smoke this early in the morning?”Jason felt extremely stifled inside. He was angry at himself.Angry that he had been so blind and stupid all this tim
