Ana’s POV.

“Ouch! Take it easy,” I exclaimed as she dressed my wounds. She was so skilled at it and needed me to sit still and not have her distracted on her job.

“Ana, what is the meaning of this? was I the one who asked you to go and pick a fight with Rosalia?” Isabel questioned as she held the plaster on her hands and the scissors and iodine which was used on the surface of the wound. It was almost what one could call- ‘Brutal’, the fight between Rosalia Hazelwood and I. I wondered what manner of lady she was. She was so strong and during the fight, she stiffened her body that I couldn’t even pull her to the ground after I held her waist.

“Come on, aren’t you seeing that it’s painful? Why are you even trying to go hard on me even when I’m suffering already?” I replied, my face kept sour while she stared back. I could tell she wasn’t really happy I sounded that way, she kept mute and frowned. Her brows furrowed while she dropped the scissors in her hands, same as the iodine. She

Massimo’s POV.The room was so quiet. I sat still and tried to see if I’ll be able to take an online course on Amazon before the door opened. I turned immediately and beheld his stormy gaze. His eyes got stock on mine as he exhaled and walked towards where I sat. I observed my heart race but couldn’t point my fingers at it, maybe because it was the first time he talked since the incident at Duke’s birthday. He held me steady and stared directly into my eyes. I sniffed his perfume from a distance, it was one of the most expensive he had in his collection. “Why are you acting so nervous?” He asked, his voice trembling and diminished. I was actually trying to figure out if that was true or not, as I stood so dumbfounded and stared at him, without a single word. “Are you being serious right now? why aren’t you even talking to me, Ana?” He inquired again. “Um, I think I would have to drink some water, I feel thirsty, even before you came,” That was a blatant lie though, and I knew he wo

Massimo’s POV. I sat at the balcony and imagined the serenity of the boulevard, with no enemy on my path. I held the cigarette on my left and had a glass of whiskey on my right. I felt the size of the red hat on my head as I nodded to the gentle breeze of the evening while I had my gaze at the manservants and maidens of the premises as they walked to and fro, performing their obligation. I was so intrigued at the nature of the calmness of our home. It seemed everyone was lost, except the few maidens who I spotted below. I felt a vibration in my pocket and that was from my phone. I kept the glass of whiskey on the railing which had a flat surface and brought it out to take a look. My eyes flashed at the first notification which came from my right hand man; Romeo. ‘Where are you, boss?’ I beamed my face with a smile as I texted back. ‘The balcony, eastern wing, second floor,’ The message was sent as soon as possible and I nodded to the ‘bing-bing sound which came off the phone,’ W

Ana’s POV. That was never what I wanted to discuss with him-About the Cosa Nostra. I needed to expose the secrets of Vanessa, who’s been having sex with Enzo, her cousin. I sat on my fancy chair and stared at my reflection in the mirror while Isabel dressed me up for the Long awaited Induction into the Cosa Nostra. I was so nervous and felt my heart beat increase as Isabel spoke. She tried to remind me of the activities to be carried out in the Induction but to her greatest surprise I wasn’t paying attention. “…and after that you’ll have to make sure that you…” she paused. “Ana? Ana!” She raised her voice and right then I shivered and got back to my senses. I was so surprised I didn’t even listen or get a single thing from what she said all along. All that filled my head was exposing the secrets of her sister to Massimo and maybe trying to teach her a lesson. I had no clue that Enzo and Massimo had settled in their dispute, else, he'd be the only one affected here. I had nothing ag

Massimo’s POV. I was so happy to see she was now a full member of the Cosa Nostra after such a wait. My heart pounded as she walked down to me on her white robe. She looked absolutely stunning and from all indications, there was something spectacular inside of her she needed to let out to me. Maybe I’ll have to stay calm and wait. Her eyes were glaring and it glued to mine while she sat down beside me. The rest of the Cosa Nostra were leaving since the induction ceremony was over. I could feel the tension in the air as she stared at me directly and beamed her face with a smile. “How are you feeling?” I asked, my eyes searching hers as she shook her head and exhaled, before turning to the other side of the hall where Isabel and Vanessa were having a conversation. “I don’t think you’re the one who’s supposed to asking that question, I don’t think it’s going to be right if we just turn a deaf ear to that, maybe you’ll have to tell me what’s going on with you instead,” she replied, dr

  • THE LIES THAT BIND   Chapter 53

Massimo’s POV. He was trying to hold a steady gaze at me while I stood. My eyes were locked in as I realized he strolled down to the vehicle and then, I turned to give Jonah a signal. I casted a Wink at him right away to ready the men. Maybe there was going to be a short scene right away. Sheriff A.M Adams walked down to be with one of the parcels which had the cocaine in it. I smiled at it immediately and nodded slowly with my eyes flashing at Rome who was already trying to bring out his gun from his scabbard before I signaled with my hands. “And I want to believe you have an explanation for what is going on here, what do you have to say about this Mr. Massimo?” He asked, lifting the stock before me. There was absolutely no way I was going to have that denied at the moment, which was why I had a plan B before coming. I rubbed my hands and chuckled, playfully as I walked closer to him. He wasn’t trying to keep a steady gaze at me so had to monitor the environment since my men were

Ana’s POV. It’s been a while since I last walked down the open fields and I felt maybe that was going to be the perfect day for this. I gave out a gigantic yawn and turned to the other side of the bed while trying to adjust the ray of light which flashed into my eyes. I shook my head and walked down to the bathroom which was just a few meters to the right. my hands felt a bit heavy as I held the handle of the door and tried to walk in a bid to wash my face. I could feel my eyes close slowly because I still felt dizzy. My world felt like it was in a paused state.I stood, facing the mirror as I watched my pale face. “why the hell do I look like this?” I muttered and kept a disgusting look as I rubbed and turned on the tap. The whole scenario was turning into a dream because I just heard my name from the other side of the door. “Was that my name? who is calling me at such an early hour of the day.” I said, as I stood and listened for a while again. It sounded like Isabel. “Maybe she w

Massimo’s POV. I never expected to see him at the premises; Nikolei Volkov. I just heard the shout from Ana down stairs as she rushed and hugged her brother who came to visit. I tried everything humanly possible to make sure that I avoided this man for at least a couple of months after his sister’s kidnap, but in this case it was impossible. I couldn’t, he was family and there was nothing I could do. I just had to calm my nerves and be down in a couple of minutes, maybe seconds to welcome him and see what he was up to. I tightened my belt on my trousers and stared at my reflection on the mirror. It was going to be one of the most complicated weeks of my life because I had to be in a gathering with the two most awkward people in my life so far. The Governor of the state, and Muller’s men, but now my in-law was now involved. I was on a brown long sleeve and also had my brown trousers with a touch of black stripe to match. I was so used to fashion and most times, most people refer to

  • THE LIES THAT BIND   Chapter 56

Ana’s POV I felt so devastated after the encounter with Vanesa. I wondered why she would just turn out to hate me after everything I’ve done to make sure she didn’t. Her response towards me was very rude and harsh and I could tell the hate which was building in her would be more than I would ever imagine, but I had to try as much as possible to make sure I maintained my stand as the daughter of the Russian Pakhan and stay committed and devoted to this course. I was seated at the dining room and scrolled on my phone, before I saw a call which came in from my elder sister, Katerina, who was in Spain. It’s been ages since I last heard from her. I smiled for a while before standing on my feet and to see if someone came from the other side of the living room. It had to be a private call and I needed to express myself to the fullest. I beamed my face with a smile as I held the phone. “Sister…” She called and waited for my response. I was so delighted by her voice alone and the drama she

Massimo’s POV. My office was cold. The air conditioner was already turned on and had lasted for the past one hour. My phone was pressed to my ear as I wrapped up the call. Suddenly, Marco opened the door and whispered. "Massimo, you have a visitor." I raised an eyebrow, annoyed at the interruption. Marco had accompanied me to work today since Rome was still recovering.I quickly ended the call and shook my head in an awkward gesture towards Marco. "What's going on?" I asked, trying to hide my irritation.Marco looked apologetic. "Sorry, boss. But I think this visitor is important. He attended the DLC meeting last year and had a significant impact on our discussions."My curiosity piqued, I leaned back in my chair. "What's so special about him?" I asked.Marco's expression turned serious. "I think you should meet him, boss. He might be able to help us with some... issues we're facing."I nodded, intrigued. "Alright, bring him in."Marco nodded and stepped out of the room. I took a s

Massimo’s POV. I sat behind my desk, my eyes locked on Domenico as I decided on the invitation from the counselor. I needed to know where he stood, whether he was with or against me. "Domenico, I want to make one thing clear," I said, my voice firm. "I need your loyalty. I need to know you're with me on this."Domenico nodded, his expression serious and sour. "Massimo, you know I'm with you. I've always been loyal to the family."I leaned back in my chair, my eyes narrowing. "Good. Because I have reasons to believe that there are those within our organization who would seek to undermine me. And I need to know that I can trust you."Domenico's face remained impassive, but I could see the hint of a question in his eyes. "What do you need to know, Massimo?" he asked.I leaned forward, my elbows on the desk. "I want to know about the recent shipment of drugs from the Mexicans. Have you received the records yet?" I asked. My voice is shrill and determined. I was so desperate for an inv

Ana’s POV.I sat in my room, staring at the fruits Martha had brought me. I usually love snacking on them, but today, I just couldn't seem to have an appetite. I picked up a slice of apple, but it felt heavy in my hand. I tried to take a bite, but the thought of eating made my stomach turn.I put the fruit down and stood up, trying to shake off the feeling. Maybe some fresh air would help. I took a few steps, but my legs felt like jelly. I stumbled, and my hands started shaking. My face felt cold. I looked down at my hands, and they were trembling like leaves.‘What's wrong with me?’I thought. I'm not sick. I'm just stressed, maybe. But why am I feeling like this? I tried to take a few more steps, but my legs wouldn't cooperate. I felt like I was going to collapse.‘Come on Ana, think.’ I muttered to myself, trying to make sense of what was happening. The recent killings and kidnappings had been weighing heavily on my mind. The tension between the Cosa Nostra and the other Mafia gro

Massimo’s POVBeing intrigued by the meeting was my thing. I stood at the bar and tried to adjust the collar of my dress as I heard the phone on the bed ring out loud. I wasn’t hesitant to take the call since I knew what awaited me for the day. “Massimo,” I heard Isabel’s Voice as she called me downstairs. “What is the problem,” I replied as I quickly walked down to the window and peeped through to see the white Mercedes which was parked just in front of the gate. It was so surprising to see the flag and logo of the New York State boldly stamped on the bonnet. “Who the hell is that?” I inquired. Isabel’s voice turned shrill and I could feel the tension in me as she continued. My heart raced right away. “I think it has to be someone from the government house, maybe.” “And maybe that could be Baize, I was just trying to imagine the governor with me in the same room in the meeting and just now I’m seeing his party…” ‘Knock, Knock!’ That was the sound on my door. I tightened the lac

Ana’s POV. I was trying to catch a glimpse of what he was actually trying to do as he raised my legs up. I tried as much as possible to bear the pain from the doggy sex as he lashed so hard.“Come on, what’s happening? You’re not even moaning at all, this ain’t the real you, Ana, something’s wrong somewhere.” “Massimo, you’re the one on me and just take a look at the way you raised my legs. I’m so uncomfortable and from the way I see it, I don’t think you’re ready to reach orgasm anyway.” I replied. My face stern as I laid on the bed and backed him. I felt so frustrated that I was having unprotected sex with him and all he could do was complain that I wasn’t moaning? If he needed to hear a moan maybe he could go on a porn site and have himself full of it. I tried to relax myself and calm my nerves. Nothing more mattered to me than his ejaculation. He exhaled and sighed before spreading my legs angrily. His hands fastened on my left leg as I felt him thrust. He continued and this t

Massimo’s POV. I was in front of the mirror, adjusting my tie as I tried to shake off the feeling of unease that had been lingering inside me. The atmosphere was tense, and I knew I was in for a rough ride soon. But I wasn't one to back down from a challenge. I took a deep breath and focused on getting ready for the day ahead.Just as I was finishing up, Marco walked into my room. His presence was a welcome distraction from the thoughts that had been plaguing me. "Hey, boss," he said, his voice casual. I nodded, and he continued, "I just talked to Anastasya. She's doing well."My interest piqued, I turned to him. "How's your relationship with her been?" I asked, genuinely curious. Marco's expression was neutral, but I could sense a hint of tension beneath the surface. "It's okay," he replied. I wasn't convinced. Marco's tone seemed off, and I couldn't help but wonder what was really going on between him and Anastasya. I nodded, trying to appear nonchalant, but my mind was racing wit

Massimo’s POV I stood on my balcony, sipping my tea and gazing out at the city below. The sun was setting, casting a warm orange glow over the buildings. I felt a sense of calm over me as I breathed in the evening air. Just as I was getting lost in thought, Rome walked and stood beside me."The flowers are ready," he said, his voice low and serious. I nodded, knowing exactly what he was talking about. Those flowers weren't ordinary flowers. They were a part of my business, a means I used to traffic drugs around the country. I didn't have a retail outlet, but a network of people who helped us move our product.I took one last sip of my tea and set the cup down. "I'll be downstairs with them in a minute," I told Rome. He nodded and turned to leave, but not before I caught a glimpse of a smile on his face.As he walked away, I muttered to myself, thinking about all the things I'd been through. The struggles, the fights, the losses. But I'd always come out on top.I built this busines

Massimo’s POV. My eyes scanned the surroundings, and they landed on Vanesa and Marco standing by the garage. My gaze locked onto Vanesa's, and I could see the mix of emotions on her face. But as I took in the scene. The bruise on Marco's cheekbone was a stark reminder of the incident that had taken place. I walked towards them, my strides long and purposeful. Vanesa's face lit up with joy, and she ran towards me, throwing her arms around me in a tight hug. "Massimo!" she exclaimed, her voice filled with emotion. I hugged her back, feeling a sense of relief wash over me. Marco approached us, and we shook hands, his eyes acknowledging the tension between us.As I held Vanesa, I glanced over her shoulder and saw my Ana standing at the door of the building, a smile spreading across her face. "Ana?" I said. My eyes never left my wife's. Vanesa chuckled and stepped aside, allowing my wife to run towards me. She jumped into my arms, and I caught her, spinning her around in a circle. Tear

Vanesa’s POV. I couldn't shake off the feeling of guilt and regret that had been weighing me down since I hit Marco. My pride was swollen, and I didn't want to swallow it. Being so arrogant was my thing though, and I felt maybe that day, it would have to come to an end. I walked around the premises, trying to clear my head, but my feet seemed to have a mind of their own. Before I knew it, I found myself standing in front of the garage, where I knew Marco often took a seat to reminisce.I spotted him sitting on a bench, a cigarette dangling from his fingers. I approached him quietly and my face twisted in a mixture of emotions. I couldn’t walk to him because I felt so guilty and couldn’t do anything at all. All that mattered as I stood behind him was asking for his forgiveness right away and letting down my ego. I was astonished as he asked, "What do you want?" without even turning around.I was taken aback, surprised that he hadn't noticed me standing there. I walked around to his s
