Selina’s POV

The weight of Kieran’s words still echoed in my head.

Find the traitor, Selina.

It wasn’t a challenge. It wasn’t permission. It was a test.

And I intended to pass.

The warriors wouldn’t accept me overnight, but I didn’t need their approval. I needed results. If I wanted to prove that I belonged in this fight, I had to be two steps ahead.

The first step? Tracking the Shadowborn’s escape route.

If someone helped the intruder escape the pack’s territory, then they had to leave a trail. And I was going to find it.

Dorian met me at the northern border, where the rogue had last been seen. He had called for two warriors to join us—Talon and Reed, both experienced trackers. I wasn’t sure if they were here to help me or babysit me.

“The last known sighting was here,” Dorian said, kneeling beside the clawed-up dirt. “But we lost the scent trail.”

I scanned the area, my heart pounding. The dense forest surrounding Blood Moon’s territory stretched endlessly, and the further out we went, the more dangerous it became.

But something felt off.

I turned my attention to the tree line, searching for anything unusual. The underbrush was too clean, the disturbance too neat.

“This wasn’t a rogue running blindly,” I murmured. “Someone led him.”

Talon scoffed. “You’re saying the traitor walked him out like a guest?”

I ignored his sarcasm. Instead, I crouched and ran my fingers over the ground, feeling the subtle shift in the soil.

My pulse quickened.

“There,” I pointed to the left. “The real trail.”

Reed frowned. “That’s impossible. We searched that area.”

“Not well enough,” I countered.

Dorian’s gaze darkened. “Then let’s check.”

We followed the path I had seen, and soon enough, we found it—a hidden scent trail leading deeper into the forest.

I turned to Talon, raising an eyebrow. “Still think I don’t belong here?”

He scowled but said nothing.

Good.

For the first time, I wasn’t just standing in Kieran’s shadow. I was making my own path.

And I wasn’t stopping now.

The deeper we tracked, the more the tension grew. The air was thick, laced with something unnatural.

Then, suddenly—a scent.

Not just any scent.

Lilith’s scent.

I froze. “She was here.”

Dorian turned sharply. “Are you sure?”

I inhaled again. Lilith had been in this exact spot.

Why?

What the hell was Kieran’s mate doing near the escape route of a Shadowborn?

A terrible suspicion clawed its way into my mind.

Was Lilith the traitor?

No. That was insane. Kieran was obsessed with her. He would never fall for someone working against the pack.

Unless…

Unless she had lied to him, too.

A cold realization settled over me.

If Lilith had anything to do with this, Kieran would never believe it.

Which meant it was up to me to prove it.

Back at the packhouse, I didn’t go straight to my room.

Instead, I went to Lilith’s chambers.

The guards at her door barely acknowledged me as I slipped inside.

The room was pristine, overly decorated with silk drapes and polished furniture. Everything was too perfect.

Too staged.

I moved swiftly, searching through her belongings. If she was hiding something, it wouldn’t be out in the open.

Then, my eyes landed on a locked chest near her bedside.

Bingo.

I knelt beside it, fingers skimming the edges. The lock was sturdy, but I had picked enough locks as a child to recognize a weak point.

With a quick flick of my wrist, the latch popped open.

I held my breath as I lifted the lid.

Inside were stacks of letters—dozens of them, bound with ribbons.

I picked up the first one and froze.

The wax seal was unfamiliar, but the handwriting…

It wasn’t just anyone’s.

It was Edwin’s.

Kieran’s former best friend. The man who had betrayed him.

The same man I had been forced to marry after my divorce.

What the hell was Lilith doing with letters from him?

I tore one open.

The words made my blood run cold.

My love,

Everything is in place. The Shadowborn has been freed. Soon, Kieran will be too blind to see the truth, and when the time comes, you will strike.

I have always belonged to you.

Not her.

Not Selina.

Only you.

I stumbled back, the letter slipping from my fingers.

Lilith was working with Edwin.

She wasn’t just betraying the pack. She was betraying Kieran.

And she had used me to do it.

Rage and disgust crashed into me.

I had spent years thinking Kieran was my greatest enemy.

But it was Lilith.

And she had played us all.

I barely made it out of Lilith’s chambers before a voice stopped me cold.

“Find anything interesting?”

I turned sharply.

Lilith stood in the hallway, arms crossed, a sickeningly sweet smile on her face.

For the first time, I really saw her.

She wasn’t just a spoiled, delicate Luna.

She was dangerous.

And she knew I had found the letters.

I gritted my teeth. “You’ve been lying to everyone.”

Her smile didn’t waver. “And yet, I’m the one wearing the crown.”

I wanted to rip it off her head.

“You won’t get away with this,” I hissed.

She tilted her head. “Who’s going to believe you?”

I opened my mouth—then stopped.

Kieran wouldn’t.

He was too blinded by his obsession with her.

If I accused her now, she’d turn it against me.

And she knew it.

She took a step closer, her voice barely a whisper.

“You’ve already lost, Selina.”

No.

Not this time.

I met her gaze, unwavering.

“Enjoy your victory while it lasts,” I said quietly. “Because when I bring you down, I’ll make sure you never rise again.”

Her eyes flickered, just for a second.

Good.

Let her be afraid.

Because this wasn’t over.

Not even close.

Selina’s POV My heart hammered against my chest the moment we were asked to kiss. My gaze darted towards Gladia. I could see the look on her face. A look trying to remind me not to screw this up for whoever in the body I was using. But still, I could feel it. Anger. It crawled beneath my skin like fire ants, biting, stinging, reminding me of every moment I had died alone. The betrayal I had felt when Keiran pronounced my sentence. The hall faded. The cheers. The noise coming from the whispering of the elders. All of it became distant noise compared to the thunder of my heart.Kieran stepped closer allowing me to have a perfect look of the man who killed me. His hand lifted, hesitating for a fraction of a second before it reached my face. That single moment of hesitation told me everything. He wasn’t sure. Not of Beth. Not of this. Not of me.His fingers brushed against my cheek, and my breath caught in my throat. His touch was warm, firm, and familiar. My stomach twisted violen

  • THE LOST ALPHA    Chapter 15 - THE GATHERING

Selina's pov As I walked through the hallway of the gigantic palace, I couldn't help but wonder why Beth had decided to run away from a move home as Alpha Marcus's palace.I could hear the servants whispering and of course, I could feel their gaze landing on me each time I took a step. " Hurry princess! They are waiting." A servant said as she hurried past me with a tray of drinks. I gulped down the thick lump at the back of my throat. Letting out a gentle sigh when I reach the entrance to the main hall. I could see the guards standing firm the moment they laid their eyes on me. " Breath, Selina. Breath." I said gently to myself throwing my new long hair backwards. I was not only Selina anymore. I was something more than that. I was now playing two parts. One was the revenge for myself and the other was a stupid love Beth was having for Keiran. Either way, I was torn apart. Between my revenge and love. I shut my eyes and imagine daggering Kieran for killing me and for not t

Selina's pov My mind hit hard against my chest. The thought of having my secret out in the open scared the hell out of me. Gladia moved slightly back to my front. " Who are you?" she asked with her eyebrows arched. I coughed. I slowly scratched my head and tried to avoid her gaze. I could tell she saw something. Probably something Elizabeth had that I didn't. Was it my attitude? What was it? " Why are you being wired, Gladia?" I asked " Weird? How? You have been the weirdo, princess. I still don't understand why you have been acting all strange ever since Alpha Keiran got here. All you have always wanted was to leave the pack. But now, you seem like a different person entirely." Gladia got up slowly from my side. The water dripped from her hand to the floor. " I am your princess, Gladia. The same girl you have known all your life." I whispered slowly. " No you are not. You are different and you need to tell me how." Gladia turned. My heat jumped a bit. Just

Selina's pov I bet done slowly and began to pick up the little shard of glasses on the floor. Blood oozed out of the cut reminding me that I was not dead but alive. Maybe that was the reminder that I needed. The door opened and Marcus walked in. I turned to look at the man who was supposed to be my father. I could feel the anger directed towards him. The same one I had when I was standing in front of Keiran. " What are you doing?" Marcus asked " I..I...the glass broke." I managed to speak. " Gladia!" Marcus yelled, his hand reaching out for mine. I flinched as he walked closer grabbing my hands. " You are a princess. You give commands and don't forget that." [ Door burst open ] Gladia walked in immediately and gasped. She looked at the floor and saw it was filled with broken glasses and a bit of my blood. " I need this cleared. Also, make sure she is cleaned and bathed yet again. The elders are waiting and I won't like to have them wait for too long." Marcus orde

  • THE LOST ALPHA    Chapter 12 - BONDS & ALLIES

Kieran’s POV The sound of glass shattering made her flinch a bit. For a split second, instinct overpowered everything else. I reached for her. “Elizabeth—” Her back had hit the mirror harder than she probably intended. Fractures spidered outward from the point of impact, distorting her reflection into a dozen broken versions of the same woman. Shards rained down around her feet, glittering like fallen stars. But she didn’t flinch. She didn’t cry out. She didn’t look afraid. She looked furious and I could tell the hatred and anger was directed towards me. And that… that unsettled me more than the broken glass. I stopped just inches away from her. Close enough to feel the heat of her breath. Enough to notice the way her pulse beat wildly at the base of her throat. Three months ago, Elizabeth would have been happy to see me. Jumped into my arms like I was the only one that mattered or probably like I was her ticket out of this place but now, this woman didn't. “You’re

The man who had watched me die.And the woman I was pretending to be.Kieran didn’t move at first. He simply stood there, studying me like I was a puzzle that needed to be solved.“You look at me like you know me,” he said finally, his hands going to the back of his neck. I let out a soft, humorless laugh. “Do I?”“Yes.” His jaw tightened. “Not like a stranger. Not like someone promised to me for political gain. You look at me like I’ve wronged you before." My gaze narrowed as my nails dug into my palms. I had to be careful. I couldn’t let my emotions outrun my mind.“You’re imagining things, Alpha,” I said calmly.“Stop calling me that. I am your bethroted, remember? Your mate." he corrected, his steps slowly moving forward. The command slipped out before he could stop himself. His own reaction surprised him.My hea
