KAIA'S POV:

There’s a strange kind of ache in my body the next morning. It’s not the kind of pain I’m used to - not the hollow sting of loneliness or the bruises from the past I try not to remember.

This is different. Earned. Tangible. It lingers in my shoulders, my arms, the soles of my feet... a reminder that I’m no longer helpless.

I stretch, wincing slightly, and glance at the clock. 7:04 AM. The house is quiet except for the distant hum of birds outside and someone clanking around in the kitchen.

Ezra, probably. He has a tendency to burn toast like it's a skill.

I throw on leggings, a sports bra, and an oversized hoodie before padding downstairs.

Sure enough, Ezra is fighting with the toaster. His hair is a mess, and he’s got a butter knife in one hand, poking the machine like it personally offended him.

“I don’t think violence will make it work faster,” I murmur.

He jumps and turns, grinning. “Morning, tiny terror. Sleep well?”

I shrug. “As well as I can with

  • THE LOST WEREWOLF PRINCESS: MATED TO THE RIVALS   Chapter 40

KAIA'S POV:The forest shifts the deeper I go. The trees are no longer trees, they look like watchers. Gnarled branches twist like limbs frozen in prayer or pain. Their bark is thick with moss, but beneath it, I sense something older. Something that breathes, though I cannot hear it. The air is colder now, heavy with mist that clings to my hoodie and seeps through the cloth like cold fingers brushing against my skin. My boots crunch against old leaves, and each sound feels like a violation. Too loud. Too alive. I slow my steps, instinctively quieter. The magic in the pendant Rhea gave me pulses faintly against my chest like a heartbeat not my own. I whisper to myself, or maybe to the trees, or to the magic that seems to hum beneath the soil. “Don’t let me break.” A rustle behind a thick curtain of ivy pulls me from my thoughts. My breath catches in my throat. I crouch low, heart pounding. From the shadows steps a deer. At least, that’s what I think it is at first. I

  • THE LOST WEREWOLF PRINCESS: MATED TO THE RIVALS   Chapter 39

KAIA'S POV:The forest waits for me. Mist curls along the forest floor like a beckoning finger, soft and pale against the deep green of moss and earth. The trees don’t speak, but I can feel them listening. Every root, every leaf, every breeze that brushes my skin seems aware of me.. like I’ve stepped into a place older than time, and it remembers. The area is hushed, not silent, but reverent. A bird calls out in the distance, its song clear and lonely. Dew clings to the edges of my boots, and my breath forms a faint cloud before me as I walk. I keep my hands tucked into the sleeves of my hoodie. Beneath it, the pendant Rhea gave me rests against my skin, warm as a second heartbeat. I can feel its magic pulsing in rhythm with mine, as if it’s reminding me I’m not truly alone. The sky is pale gray, not yet blue. Pre-dawn. The kind of hour where the world still dreams. “Remember your blood remembers,” Rhea had said.I don’t know what it means. Not really. But I whisper i

  • THE LOST WEREWOLF PRINCESS: MATED TO THE RIVALS   Chapter 38

KAIA'S POV:The sky is still dark when I wake. Not the kind of dark that scares you, but the kind that feels like a pause... the in-between moment when the world holds its breath. I lie still, listening to the sound of my heart. It's calmer than I expect. Steady. Like it knows this is right, even if my head is chaos. I don't even know what awaits me.I untangle myself from the sheets slowly. Kai’s arms fall away from my waist, his breathing deep with sleep. I hesitate for a second, watching the gentle rise and fall of his chest, memorizing the peace in his face. There's a softness to him when he sleeps, a boy beneath the Alpha, beneath the pain. I slip out of bed and pull on my hoodie, the hem brushing just above my thighs. My boots are by the door. I grab them quietly, tiptoeing past the others as I make my way down the hall. The house is still. No creaking floorboards. No whispered arguments. Just silence.Until I reach the kitchen. “Couldn’t sleep either?” Rhea’s vo

  • THE LOST WEREWOLF PRINCESS: MATED TO THE RIVALS   Chapter 37

KAI'S POV: The silence in the house is thick enough to choke on. Kaia’s been in her room for hours now, door locked, aura distant. After what happened with the Elders - with her hands glowing like fire and the way she collapsed into my arms like her body had betrayed her, it’s like something inside her shifted. She hasn’t been the same. And neither have I. I pace the hallway outside her room, fists clenching and unclenching at my sides. Axel leans against the opposite wall, unusually quiet, his eyes flicking toward Kaia’s door every few seconds like it might explode open. “She won’t talk to me,” I mutter, breaking the silence.“She won’t talk to anyone,” Axel replies, his voice low. “Rhea tried earlier. Even Ezra.”“She’s scared,” I say. “Of herself.” Axel doesn’t argue. He just nods and that makes it worse somehow...how even the most stubborn, cocky guy I know has nothing sarcastic to say. That’s how I know it’s bad. I take a breath and cross the hallway. Knock o

KAIA'S POV:The light stings my eyes. I wake slowly, like surfacing through water, my body aching in places I didn’t know could ache. My throat is dry. My head is heavier than it should be. The first thing I notice is the silence. Not the peaceful kind. The tense, watchful kind.I blink rapidly until shapes blur into focus. I’m in the infirmary. Again. But it’s not the one in the main pack house - this room is smaller, more intimate. Dim golden light filters through high windows, and the scent of sage and pine clings to the walls. A soft weight rests on my hand. I glance down and see Rhea, her head bowed, asleep in a chair beside me. Her fingers are locked around mine like a lifeline.I try to sit up, and pain jolts through my ribs. A hiss escapes me.Rhea jerks awake. "Kaia!" Her voice cracks, thick with sleep and emotion. Her hands fly to my shoulders, gently pushing me back down. "Don’t move too fast," she says. "You passed out. Again."I frown. "Again?" She nods.

  • THE LOST WEREWOLF PRINCESS: MATED TO THE RIVALS   Chapter 35

KAIA'S POV: Yeah, I woke up in the morning to the sound of ambush. Didn't even get to brush my teeth mehn. Rhea and I run out to the forest where the fight was taking place with our swords. The wind shifts and I smell them. Not the usual damp fur and rot of Nightowl wolves. This is sharper. Clean steel. Burnt leather. Bloodlust. “They’re here,” Rhea whispers, just as I lands beside me, panting. “They’re not Nightowls… They’re faster.” “Run?” she suggests, but I can see in her eyes she knows we won’t make it in time. Not all of us.Too late. Three shadows burst from the treeline like living smoke, their speed so fast it almost knocks the breath from my lungs. Not scouts. Not rogues. These ones might actually kill us. One dives for Rhea. I barely have time to shove her out of the way before a claw rakes across my forearm. I stumble, hiss through my teeth, but don’t stop moving. I feel myself shift partially; my wolf eyes enhancing my sight, my limbs humming w

  • THE LOST WEREWOLF PRINCESS: MATED TO THE RIVALS   Chapter 34

KAIA’S POV: Later that evening, the living room is packed again. Rowan stands by the fireplace, arms folded. Ezra lounges on the couch with a knife he keeps flipping in his fingers. Lucien, quiet as ever, watches me from the corner. Axel and Kai sit beside each other, strangely in sync despite their rivalry. Rhea steps into the center of the room with me and clears her throat.“Kaia is… evolving. Her abilities are growing, and we don’t have much time before Night owl makes their next move.” Rowan speaks first. “We’ve noticed the changes. The dreams, the way she’s been reacting to energy shifts…” “I saw someone in the woods last night,” I blurt. “I didn’t want to say anything, but... I felt it. A presence. And it wasn’t ours.” Lucien stands immediately, eyes flashing. “Why didn’t you say anything?” “Because I didn’t want to scare anyone. And I wasn’t sure if it was real…” Kai stands too, stepping toward me. “From now on, you tell us everything. No more trying to p

  • THE LOST WEREWOLF PRINCESS: MATED TO THE RIVALS   Chapter 33

KAIA'S POV:The moment I open my eyes, it feels like something is different. There’s a thick silence draped over the pack house like a suffocating blanket. My sheets are tangled around me from another restless sleep, and my pillow is damp from sweat or maybe tears. I can’t remember. Yesterday’s dreams are burned into my mind. The vision. The screams. The fire. The way my body had betrayed me, showing me things I wasn’t ready for. I sit up slowly, rubbing at my eyes. My head pounds, like too much has happened in too little time, and there’s barely room to breathe. I glance around my room. Everything looks the same. But I’m not. I feel different. These visions get worse with each passing day for real. Like something inside me has been unlocked, and I don’t know how to shut it off.A soft knock raps on my door. "Kaia?" It’s Rhea. Her voice is gentle, hesitant. “Can I come in?”“Yeah.”I'm so glad she's here. The overload of teresterone has almost killed me. She steps i

  • THE LOST WEREWOLF PRINCESS: MATED TO THE RIVALS   Chapter 32

KAIA'S POV: (Dream) The wind stings my cheeks as I sprint through the dense trees, heart thudding in sync with the pounding of my boots against damp earth. Branches claw at my arms, tearing little slices into my skin, but I don't stop. I can't. Not when every instinct is screaming at me to run faster. To survive. Behind me, the chaos of the attack continues - snarls, roars, the metallic clang of blades meeting blades. A howl pierces the night, and it sounds too close. Kai’s voice echoes in my head. "Don't stop, Kaia. Head for the eastern ridge. We’ll meet you there." But every step forward feels like I’m wading deeper into the unknown. My lungs burn, my legs ache, but I push through. The weight of everything; the fear, the pain, the memories, is suffocating. Then I hear it. Footsteps. Fast. Heavy. Not mine. I spin, breath caught in my throat. Nothing. There's no one there. I take a cautious step back, hand reaching instinctively for the dagger strapped to my thigh. A w
