KAIREN

“Wh-where are you taking me?…” She drawled as her jelly legs made their way across the pavement.

She reeked of alcohol and something sweet. Her scent has grown stronger in the last couple of minutes.

“Ohhh, are we going to get laid?” she giggled, limply leaning on me as I held her up.

“Where do you live?” I huffed, wanting to be rid of this woman as soon as possible.

“Ohhh, there.”

I looked in the direction she pointed and scowled. “That’s a dumpster.”

Her head reared back. “Oh.” She looked around. “Where did it go? It…it was right th—there.”

With no other choice, I turned and headed into the big hotel right across the street. It would be inconvenient, but it was better than watching a helpless woman get gang-raped by multiple men.

“S-sir?” The security guard at the door stared in shock. One look at him and the rest of his words died in his throat.

Everyone threw me a similar look as I walked into the hotel with a giggling woman in my arms. This would undoubtedly cast a slight stain on my reputation.

Ignoring them all, I walked straight to the second elevator and pressed the penthouse button.

“Wow, your room is so shiny…”

“It’s an elevator.”

“I don’t think I’ve ever had elevator sex before.” She mumbled, then grinned again. “Th—There’s a first ti—tiime for every…thing.”

And then tears, “How could he do this to me?”

How was she suddenly crying? Bipolar?

“He…” hiccup “he cheated…on me.”

Oh, that explained the excessive drinking. A normal human would have collapsed from that much alcohol. I sighed.

I couldn’t wait to get rid of her.

“I… I feel wet down there.” Her cheeks turned red as she rubbed her thighs together, causing her scent to thicken.

My dick strained against my trousers, and I scowled, hating the effect her scent had on me.

The elevator dinged, and I walked straight into my penthouse, heading for the bedroom.

“Ohh, this sexy stranger is going to fuck me tonight.” She whispered giddily. “He’s so handsome… I can’t…”

I could bet all my money that those were supposed to be inside thoughts.

Was this woman a flirty drunk, or was it the heat? Maybe both?

I would rather not find out.

“Sexy stranger, you look angry. Is everything okay with you?” She murmured, and I glowered.

With a huff, I released her arm, and she staggered onto the edge of the bed.

“Stay here tonight; no one will harm you within these walls. When you wake up tomorrow, leave immediately.”

I turned to leave, but she grabbed my shirt. “Aren’t we having sex anymore?”

Gosh! This woman!

I spun on my heel to face her, and she threw herself into my arms. Swiftly, I held her at arm’s length. “I don’t touch women who aren’t sober.”

She giggled, “I’m sober. See, I’m holding up three fingers.”

She was holding up five, but who cared? I pushed her until she sat on the bed, caging her in.

“You’re drunk, completely out of it, taken, and under the influence of your heat. You don’t want this, and the last thing I want is a woman who regrets it when I fuck her. So be good, stay here, and stop playing with fire, little wolf.”

“I’m not taken, he…” she hiccuped, “he cheated on me, and heat or not, I want to have sex with you!”

How brazen!

“I should never have interfered.” I muttered. Her heat was growing stronger and stronger by the second.

I have to get out of there before I end up making a mistake. “Listen, I can find your—”

The rest of my words died in my throat as the wanton, sexually frustrated drunk of a woman pressed her lips against mine.

Soft and sweet and willing and—

Everything exploded. A deafening roar escaped any lips as I slammed her back on the bed, breathing hard.

What the hell was happening?

I yanked my lips from hers, breathing in heavily as my beast fought within me.

Let me out! Let me out! Take! Take her! Take her!

Control it, for fuck's sake!

“Sexy stran—”

“Shut it!” I roared. This woman had just shattered my rein on my beast and sent me into a painful arousal state from just a kiss!

One fucking kiss!

I snarled when a moan escaped her lips, her eyes clouded with lust. I looked down and saw her shamelessly rubbing against my thigh.

“Fuck!” That did it.

The last of my control snapped, and I pounced on her like a starving beast with a slab of fresh meat.

***

My brows pulled at the center as my eyes danced between my eyelids.

I opened my mouth in a loud yawn, stretching my body to the limit as my eyes slowly opened, blinking lazily.

I stared off into thin air, watching the morning sunlight highlight the cream color of the wall and—

I shot up. Morning? Sun?!

I looked around and stared at the sunlight illuminating every corner of the room. My eyes widened, darting to the digital clock on the bedside table…

9:30 am.

“What the—Guards!!”

***

“Wait, so let me get this straight. You took her to your penthouse last night, and you, the God of ultimate control, somehow lost control and fucked this ‘woman’ into oblivion, then proceeded to fall into a deep sleep—uninterrupted by nightmares—and then send our men on a witch hunt?”

I regarded Valios with a nonchalant expression. “It really happened; that woman is out there somewhere, and I need to find her.”

“Forgive me for finding it difficult to believe. You fucked a woman you didn’t want to, like went full beast mode on her—”

“I don’t think he did. If not, she’d not have made it.” Flinn chuckled, his eyes glinting with mischief. The bastard was enjoying this.

“Don’t tell me you believe him.” Valios groaned.

“Of course I do. I was the one who told him to take her home, no?”

“Fine, let’s say I somehow believe he slept with a strange woman without the proper procedure. How on earth did he sleep without having a single nightmare tormenting him?.”

“That, Valios, is what I intend to find out.”

Something pushed at my mental barrier, and the minute I let it down, the words came in.

“Boss, we found her. She’s at the airport.”

KAIREN“Your Majesty,” the chauffeur bowed as I walked out with Merilyn asleep in my arms. She hadn't even gotten through half the movie before she fell asleep.I gestured for him to open the car, then I lowered Merilyn onto the front passenger seat and strapped her in with the seat belt.“You may go.” I held out my hand for the keys. He dropped them, bowed and walked off.I crouched, staring at my mate, sleeping peacefully. The back of my knuckles brushed over her cheeks, and her eyebrows pulled at the center. A second later, the frown lines disappeared and she let out a small sound. So cute.I straightened to my feet and gently shut the door before making my way to the driver's seat and driving home.---“My lady.” Gwen shot up from her chair. She seemed to have been startled awake by my entry. I paused just enough for her to curtsy and move closer to confirm Merilyn was fine.“Merilyn will be sleeping in my chambers tonight. You can go back to your chambers, Gwen.”“Yes, Your Majes

MERILYN“Where are we going?” I asked, staring at the world drifting past us in a blur.Kairen’s thumb brushed over the back of my palm, sending me a smile. “Somewhere I know you'll enjoy.”Ever since we left the palace gates, Kairen’s hand hadn't left mine for even a moment. He drove through the busy road with one hand and touched me with the other.Little innocent touches that made my heart flutter.“How many cars do you have?” I asked out of nowhere.“That's an odd question. Why?”I chuckled. “Just curious,” I said as I admired the open-roof car, loving the feeling of the wind on my skin. It's almost as if he drove a different car every other day.Kairen shrugged. “I don't know. Too many to count? Each one has its purpose. Do you want one?”I stared at him with an arched brow. “You made me leave my car behind when you abducted me from my hotel.”“Ah.” He nodded, with a chuckle. “I forgot. Do you think your husband found it?”“Maybe, maybe not,” I said absentmindedly as I brushed my

MERILYN“A lock of white hair?” I reached out to grab my hair, raising it high enough to see it in the mirror.“Yes, but I'm probably mistaken. There's nothing in your hair, Lady Merilyn.”Gwen appeared from the corner. “What's happening?” She asked, her gaze darting from me to the hairstylist.“Nothing, ma'am. I just thought I saw something. It was probably the reflection of the light.”Gwen walked up to me, where I’d gone pale, and glared at the stylist. “Then get your eyes properly checked. What the hell did you say that got her looking this worried?”“Gwen,” I called out softly, but she was too busy tearing into the hairstylist.“Watch your tongue next time, unless you want—” I tugged at the side of her dress.“It's enough. It wasn't completely her fault.” I smiled at her. “Let it go, okay?”She glared at the stylist. “You're lucky my lady is willing to forgive you. Finish up your work and keep whatever hallucinations you think you have to yourself, okay?”She nodded. “Yes, ma'am.

MERILYN“My lady!” Gwen’s voice rang through the walls of my bedroom. “My lady!!”I turned as I heard her footsteps approaching. Jiggling in her hands were many shopping bags. She dropped them on the bedside table and curtsied.“His…” she heaved, trying to catch her breath, “His Majesty sent this…”I'd already reached for the box and began looking through it.“…sent this for your date.”My eyes lit up, a grin spreading over my face as I pulled out the dresses he bought, the shoes and makeup.Giggling like a little child, I couldn't help but grab the dresses and hold them to my body, checking them out in the mirror. It's been three days since the nightmare incident. Kairen had sent a message to the priestess, and he told me she wouldn't be available until a few months later.Heira made me herbal concoctions that would help me sleep better. They worked, but what neither of them knew was that the nightmares never came frequently. But thanks to the concoctions, I didn't sleep better nowad

Worry lines etched on his forehead. Whatever nightmare she had must have scared her badly.“I'm here, you're safe now,” he whispered, gently patting her back. He sat on the bed, pulling her along with him.Merilyn clung onto him for dear life. She didn't want to go back there anymore. It scared her. The fact that she couldn't distinguish between reality and that universe worried her. What if the next time she went, she couldn't come back? MERILYN“I don't think you'd come.” Lorelei wore a small smile, one that didn't reach her eyes. Her fingers faintly held the handle of the tea cup, raising the edge of the cup to her red-coated lips.“What do you want?”She took a small sip, lowering the china cup back onto its saucer. “Have a seat, at least. I invited you here to have tea with me.”When I didn't sit, she grinned. “Don't worry. I won't think of poisoning you right now. It'll be too public.”“So you do want to poison me,” I stated, pulling out the empty chair and sitting on it.“No, I'm just saying. Besides, I don't think I have to go to such an extreme level.” She took an empty cup, poured in two spoons of tea powder before adding the boiled water, some sugar, and cream. The maid from earlier came forward, took the cup of tea from her, and placed it on the saucer in front of me.I stared at the steaming cup and looked back at her.“I heard some rumors, and I was hoping you'd deny them.
