Reign’s pov

I was sitting in the living room with Zeke when Katherine told me she wanted to go see her parents, and tell them about the pups. I had wanted to go with her but she told me Felicia was with her and it was going to be quick and she would be back.

My beast snarled and refused instantly, demanding I lock her away where nothing could touch her. Everything in me refused but I remembered the last time how my protectiveness has hurt her instead of comforting her. So I forced my beast down and let her go, when everything in me was against it.

I handed Felicia a bag of the pack bakery’s pastries she liked, telling her to keep Katherine fed. She got hungry even second as the pups were growing.

My beast paced restlessly inside me, scratching against my skin, demanding her presence. Every moment without her smell close didn’t sit well with me.

I sat with Zeke, but his words faded into noise. All I could feel was the gnawing emptiness. My instincts screamed she was too far, too

My shoulders slumped as I let out a long sigh. “Being in the midst of the Lycan is stressful,” I muttered as we walked. “You all press down on my wolf. I swear, if I ever find out my pup is in danger, I’ll do the same thing Katherine just did.” I shook my head. “How does she handle the Lycan so well? I still can’t get used to his presence, no matter how many times I’ve been around him.” I kept talking until we reached Zeke’s room. That was when I noticed he hadn’t replied to a single word. I stopped, frowning, and looked at him. “What’s wrong?” I asked. He studied me quietly, his eyes unreadable. Finally, he said, “I wasn’t joking.” I blinked. “Joking about what?” Zeke stepped in front of me, close enough that we shared the same air. For a moment, he just looked at me, and then the words hit me. “I want a pup.” I almost bit my tongue. I choked on my spit. I was stunned, speechless. I had truly thought it was one of his ways

    Zeke’s POV Reign couldn’t trust anyone with his pups, but he did with me and Felicia. Katherine had stepped out into the pack premises, leaving us inside. Felicia held Rowan, rocking him gently. I didn’t even know how to act, but I knew one thing. I would protect them with everything I am and give them everything in life. Zeke’s expression softened, and he bowed slightly, ready to leave. “Zeke,” I called before he could step away.
