LOGINCHAPTER THREE
SEBASTIAN
"A divorce?" I repeated her words slowly, as if that would change it somehow.
My gaze landed on the woman lying on the bed, staring at me with a fierce look in her eyes.
This woman Sophia.....what was her deal? Despite the obvious fear on her face, I could sense her innate stubbornness, and her refusal to back down.
She wanted to divorce me? Pulling my eyes away from her face, I chuckled coldly, did she think this was a game?
"Yes, you obviously don't want this marriage, and frankly, I don't either. So we should get a divorce," she presented a false façade of calmness as she said this, but the rise and fall of her chest exposed that she was more scared than she would admit.
"Do you think that you get to make the choice here? When your grandfather sent you here, did he inform you that there would be any grounds for a divorce?" I asked her coldly.
Marco had gone through to such lengths just to get me to marry his granddaughter.
Obviously, a divorce was not something that was on his radar when he made those plans.
She lifted her chin, meeting my gaze with confidence in her eyes. The scared woman I had seen standing at the altar waiting for me had been replaced by this person who looked like she was not going to back down at all.
She was also different from the investigation reports I had gotten on her.
The reports stated that she was an arrogant woman, a spoiled princess who believed the world revolved around her, but the woman in front of me was far different from that.
What was her real personality? Or was Sophia so used to changing personalities?
"My grandfather has nothing to do with this. I have no idea what kind of deal you have with him, but we both should not suffer because of it. We can get a divorce, and pretend this never happened, " she said to me.
I watched her closely, and I could see how desperate she looked.
Sophia really wanted to divorce me.
However...was I just going to give her what she wanted?
My eyes fell on her exposed legs, although the rest of her body was well hidden under the covers, I could still see her long, fair legs.
My throat went dry, and suddenly, the room felt small.
The image of her standing completely naked in front of me flashed in my head once again, and I swallowed hard.
Sophia was a beautiful woman, and it was just too bad that she was the granddaughter of Marco Vale. Otherwise...
She suddenly stood up,with the bedsheets still wrapped around her body firmly.
The large sheets covered her legs as she took a few steps over to me, but then, the top of her chest was exposed.
Sophia had a patronizing smile on her face, "I think this will be a win-win situation for us, you obviously don't want me, and I don't want you either...."
She reached out a hand to me, but I grabbed it before she could touch me.
"Heh, if I didn't know any better, I'd actually fall for your tricks! Tell Marco that I am prepared for whatever he's plotting!" I snapped at her.
Heat flowed through me, down to the lower part of my body, and I sucked in a deep breath.
Sophia's fair and soft body was still in my line of sight, and it affected me way more than I was willing to admit.
It dawned on me what Sophia was trying to do, of course, as Marco's granddaughter, she was just as scheming as he was.
Her true nature would never change!
Pushing her away from me once again, I managed to pull myself from the spell that she had cast on me.
Sophia fell to the ground with a large thud, and I instinctively reached out a hand to help her up.
However, Sophia's face went red immediately as her eyes fell on the bulge in my pants.
She pointed at it, with a panicked look on her face.
"That...."
"Damn it!" I cursed and turned, almost running out of my own damn bedroom.
Sophia was not an ordinary woman, she was affecting me in ways I did not want to admit at all!
......
I walked out of the bathroom, my hair still wet from the cold shower that I had taken.
A frown was on my face when I saw James sitting on the couch, waiting for me.
"Why did you take a shower here, boss?" He asked, his gaze carrying a hint of suspicion towards me.
"The bathroom in the bedroom was occupied," I lied, not wanting to admit that I had left because I couldn't stand Sophia's tempting presence, or that I had given in to temptations I did not care to admit to.
"I heard that a woman has been living there for the past two weeks. What do you plan to do with her?"
His gaze was questioning, as he waited for my response.
"I don't think I need to explain my relationship with my wife to you, right?" I asked him, my irritation rising.
He was my father's trusted aide when he was alive, and I only tolerated James' presence for that reason.
"Of course not, boss! I was just curious...she's Marco's granddaughter, after all," he reminded me.
As soon as those words were out of his mouth, I realized that I had overreacted.
Damn it, she was Marco's granddaughter, a wife married to me all because of benefits.
"He gave up the shipping routes for her, of course, I couldn't reject such a good deal," I said, with my eyes closed.
I grinned in satisfaction as my mind wandered to the divorce she had initiated.
It didn't matter if she was serious or not, however, until my goals were achieved, a divorce was simply not possible!
"Although she's Marco's granddaughter, she's also a very beautiful woman, I heard that she had a lot of suitors back in Asheville and..."
My eyes snapped open as James started to talk about Sophia again.
"You didn't come here just to chat about my wife right?" I demanded to know.
My fists clenched tightly by my sides, as I realized that once again, the mention of Sophia's name had made me lose my cool.
With a swift shake of his head, he changed the topic.
"The last batch of goods were intercepted by Damien. A few of our men have been captured by him," James informed me.
"What the fuck?! How could you let that happen?!”
CHAPTER SEVENTY LIRAMy eyes were red and watery from the slap that Isabelle had given me. However, I couldn't even explain myself. Damien had made sure that there was no way out for me. If I dared to tell the truth about what happened, then he woke expose the fever that I was not Sophia Sniffing back the tears that were threatening to fall, I looked at Sebastian who was seated on the couch, a disappointed look on his face. I smiled bitterly, he didn't believe me...and why would he even believe me? I worked for Damien...to them, I was the only one who could have stolen the design. "What are you looking at my brother for? Do you think that he is going to protect you this time? Ha! My brother was so nice to you, he didn't even mind the fact that you are Marco's granddaughter, and this is how you decide to pay us back?" Isabelle snarled at me. I took a deep breath, "I wasn't the one who stole the design," I said. I was not going to accept the blame for something that I didn't do
CHAPTER SIXTY-NINELIRAI sat in the dressing room, as I waited for the makeup artist to come take off my makeup. My mind was all over the place, but I still remembered what Damien had said to me. The launch was very important, and I had to make sure that nothing went wrong. So even though I was shaking with fear, I still got on the stage and presented the necklaces. It received great approval from the crowd, and it was even auctioned off at a pretty high price. I was sure that they would be a big hit when they hit the market ...All of those did not have much effect on me,and now that I sat alone in the dressing room, I realized that my situation was not good. Damien knew the truth, and even if he didn't want to expose me, he was going to use it to his benefit. There was no way this situation would be beneficial for me. It was driving me crazy just thinking about it...what exactly would Damien ask from me? The door was pushed open, and I turned back expectantly, but instead of
CHAPTER SIXTY-EIGHTLIRAHe knew....that was the first thought in my head. Damien knew....he knew everything about my identity as Lira! Maya ...she had told him the truth! My face went pale instantly, and I started to physically shake in fear I didn't even bother to try and hide my reactions, because I knew it was impossible. "What ...what are you talking about?" I stammered out those words, not daring to look into Damien's eyes. How could Maya do this to me? What could Damien have possibly promised her? Damien had a grin on his face, the knowing look on his face was brighter than ever. No wonder....no wonder he had been giving me a weird gaze from now on. It was all because he knew everything and he was just wstching me put on a show like I was a clown! Bitter tears gathered in my eyes, and I forced myself to sniff them all back. What good could crying do for me now? "What? It's what Maya likes to call you right?" Damien flashed me a grin as he said this, and he wriggled hi
CHAPTER SIXTY-SEVENLIRA My heart skipped a beat when I heard Damien's obviously teasing voice, and both Maya and I turned to look at him with pale looks on our faces. Maya in particular looked scared, and she took a few steps back subconsciously. My eyes shifted between Maya and Damien.... Damien just glanced at her once before he shifted his attention right back to me, but I really couldn't shake off the feeling that there was something wrong somewhere. It was driving me crazy the more I thought about it. "Why? What were you talking about? You want to fill me in?" Damien proceeded to interrogate us with that same teasing look on his face. "I....Kendra said she wanted to talk to me about some of the decorations for the launch.....I have to go now..." She said in shaky voice. Maya did not reuse her head even once, she managed to make her escape, leaving just me and Damian standing in the hallway. Damien flashed a grin at me, "I thought you said you weren't that close to her? D
CHAPTER SIXTY-SIXLIRAMaya walked into the office with her head bowed but I was still able to make out the outline of her face. What was she doing here?! "You know each other?" Kendra asked, as her eyes darted between me and Maya.Maya nodded her head first, a small smile on her face. "We....have met a few times," Maya said, her voice barely above a whisper. Obviously, she didn't want to admit our friendship. Although this was weird to me, I held back from saying anything else. After all, my identity right now was special. Kendra nodded her head, not asking any more questions. "Well, Maya here has experience working in high level events. She is going to help us prepare everything for the launch that we are going to have soon. I hope that everyone can work well with her," Kendra announced. Her words were more like an order, instead of suggestion. I didn't pay attention to Kendra though, all of my attention was focused on Maya. How did she got a job here? Was it really a coin
CHAPTER SIXTY-FIVELIRAUnderneath the sheets, I clenched my fists tightly. My eyes were weary as I watched the man in front of me, my suspicions heightened. "What do you want?" I asked through gritted teeth. Although I was trying my best not to show my fear, my heart was already pounding fast in my chest. James sneered at me, and before I could react, he was right in front of me, grabbing my chin. "What were you going to tell Sebastian just now? " He demanded to know. My heart skipped a beat, and I turned my eyes wat from him to hide my guilt. I did not dare confess that I was thinking about coming clean with the truth and ending everything. "I...""Let me warn you, Lira. Your grandmother's life is still in my hands, and if you dare to make any foolish decisions, then both you and her are going to die. If you want to die, then you had better keep your head down and do as you're told! The only reason why you're still alive till now is because the boss deems you useful!" He snar
CHAPTER ELEVEN SEBASTIAN She was nothing more than a convenient way to get what I wanted. Destroying Marco would not be easy, and I found out that extending a hand to him and letting him think we were on the same side was the best way to get him to let down his guard enough for me to destroy the
CHAPTER EIGHTLIRAJumping up from my bed, I headed at once for the bathroom. All of my strength seemed to fail me once I was inside the bedroom, and I fell to the ground. Bending over the toilet sink, I vomited out all of the contents of my stomach. The image of that man tied to the chair inside
CHAPTER NINELIRAThe woman had a flirtatious smile on her face as she pointed out the things that she wanted to Sebastian, and I froze in place, unable to think or move. She was beautiful, elegant, and confident, everything that I was not. And she commanded Sebastian's attention like it always be
CHAPTER SEVEN SEBASTIAN The rat was already screaming when I walked in, Dante could never wait for permission when it involved backstabbers. Turning my head towards James, my cold gaze fell on him. He lowered his head immediately, not daring to meet my gaze head on. "I want names from him, the
