Chapter 8

C8: Fuming Alice

That day went by , watching Alice trained by him was a bit excruciating.

Raine would occasionally frown, pout or sad, the warriors didn't help her either they would cheer them up and pair them together.

Once they were done training, Alice left with Maya leaving Raine behind.

Raphael joined her, his eyes studying her sulking face.

“What is the problem?” He asked softly, holding her hand but Raine shook her head.

How could she tell him she was dying with jealousy, instead she pecked him, shocking the both of them.

Raphael blinked twice his lips slightly apart before they curved into a smile.

“Seems like my feelings are mutual” he stated playfully.

Raine looked away as her face suddenly turned red, she didn't know what pushed her to do that but she just wanted to secure him.

“I..I that was a mistake” she stuttered closing her eyes wishing she would disappear because the gaze she got in return was intense.

“Really? Don't you feel the same way I do?

The intense pull whenever we are together?” Raphael asked as he shifted closer, fully turning to her.

Raine blinked but slowly nodded shyly.

He chuckled and cupped her cheeks softly, his grey eyes not leaving her brown ones as he drew in.

Raine blinked, her heart racing.

She could hear its beat even without her heightened sense of hearing.

She gasped when Raphael kissed her, but still succumbed to the intense feeling that came with it.

Meanwhile Alice dragged Maya to a corner, her eyes scanning the space to make sure there was no one there.

“Have you gotten what I asked for?” She asked in a low tone.

Maya sighed, “you don't have to be so careful, I have seen the book, you just have to tell me when you need it so that I can get it” she said proudly.

Alice hissed, “the book is not with you then of what use is it, but then you did well” she remarked arrogantly.

Maya pursed her lips but still smiled after all, besides she knew it was not easy to butter up to her.

Alice stood silently for a while before a cruel smile bloomed on her face, she dismissed Maya and went back to the inner ground.

She froze at the sight before her, she clenched her fist watching them kiss.

The way Raphael drew her in by the back with his left hand, his lips ravaging hers..soft yet intense.

The way Raine shivered, her eyes shut tightly.

Her heart twisted as she watched them, she wasn't the only one watching.

Few trainees saw them.

“Wow…this is going on and we didn't know” one of them said with a gasp.

“I'm surprised, I thought Raphael would end up with the Alpha's second daughter” another stated.

“He is only training her, but then I heard that Raine had saved him. Besides they have been close for a while now, just that it's a pity they aren't the power couple” the third one spoke, her eyes sparkling.

“That's none of my business, look at the way they are kissing for goodness sake it is hot…” The first one commented, fanning herself with her hands.

Alice seethed in rage as she strode to them, “how dare you speak such” she snared angrily stunning the trainees who didn't notice her earlier.

They apologized and scurried away, not willing to beat her wrath, her aura was slowly filling the space making them uncomfortable.

She didn't bother to look at the lovebirds again, she left the training ground and went home, leaving Raine behind.

Back in the training ground, Raphael slowly broke the kiss, his eyes glistening with need as he stared at her flushed face.

He brushed her swollen lips softly while holding her steady so that she wouldn't look away.

“I truly love you” he whispered inches away from her lips, Raine stared at him dazed for a while before a soft smile bloomed on her lips.

She gasped as she looked around, “Alice, where is she?” She mumbled to herself as she bit her lips.

Alex walked to them, “whoa… Raph you didn't tell me this was going on” he said punching Rapheal on the arm.

Raine looked away, her face flushed than it already was, she forced herself to look up.

“Did…did you see Alice?” she asked, trying to look less embarrassed.

“Oh.. you mean your sister, well she left and trust me she looks like she would rip off a head if you get any closer” he replied dramatically.

Raine stood up instantly, “I have to go home now, it's late already” she spoke hurriedly, her hands fidgeting, but Raphael held her hand, stopping her.

Alex watched the two for a while before leaving them to speak.

“Why are you so tense?” He asked softly as he stood up.

“If you are worried about your sister informing the alpha then we have no issues, I've planned to make my feelings for you known to him.

I might as well go with you” he assured her.

But Raine shook her head, she didn't doubt him in fact she had grown to trust him but that wasn't the problem.

She knew her parents.They wouldn't mind punishing her as far as that is what Alice wanted.

“I..I have to go home now and explain things to them, you don't have to come with me right now, it won't be the ideal time” she insisted.

She didn't want him to see the way she was treated even though it was obvious they didn't acknowledge her.

Raphael clenched his teeth for a second, his eyes on her, he knew she certainly wouldn't want him to go with her.

“Alright, but know that I am here by your side at all times” he said softly.

Raine looked up at him, her heart leaped with joy.

She now has someone who would stand by her and defend her.. It was him.

“Thank you” she whispered as she embraced him tightly like he was her anchor… he was right now.

After a long time she broke the hug reluctantly and left ready to face whatever it was that awaited her at home.
