C10: Birthday night

Two months later, Evening…

The days had flown by peacefully with little or no drama from Alice, well Raine thought it was a good sign, maybe she was too focused on her training rather than being mischievous.

Today was her birthday. Raine sat in her bathtub, eyes closed in beautiful thoughts.

Raphael had promised her a gift for her birthday, she didn't know what it was but then she was eager to know what it was.

She couldn't wait to see him tonight.

Her parents said the celebration would hold tonight because of the full moon that would appear today, well for her sister not hers, she was meant to stay in the shadows like the other times.

Where no one would wish her nor toast to her, all attention was meant to be given to Alice.

Raine no longer felt so much pain in the past because she had grown to know that she was unloved and neither was she today.

Instead of feeling lonely she felt happy knowing that Raphael would be coming and deep down she couldn't wait for her gift.

After taking her bath she wore a blue floral dress with a gray hairpin fixed on her hair to keep it in place.

She went into the kitchen where different maids scurried around preparing the dishes, one of them bumped into her, almost spilling a red wine on her.

Raine quickly scooped her dress and shifted aside, avoiding the drink which fell on the floor splashing on the marble floor, the maid followed suit but she held her up.

“What is going on here?” Luna Indira’s voice rang in the large kitchen, her eyes narrowed in slits as they fixated on the spilled wine.

The maid bowed instantly in fear, her body shivering as she tried to speak but her voice failed her.

“I won't ask again, what is going on here” she half yelled furiously.

Raine shut her eyes helplessly before stepping forward, she knew how strict her mother was.

“Mother, she mistakenly bumped into me and spilled the wine” she explained softly as she stepped forward shielding the maid a bit.

Luna Indira's eyes now fell on her, the fiery glint in her eyes glowed more, “You again, what are you doing here, you always ruin things and now you want to ruin Alice's birthday?” She asked, striding further into the kitchen.

“I didn't mean to, I had come here to prepare a meal for myself”.

Luna Indira glared at her, just how much she desired to slap her but it wasn't now.

“Thank the moon goddess that tonight is a beautiful one” she said with a hiss and turned around to leave now after giving the maids a hard stare.

“Don't create another mess again” she instructed and left.

Raine breathed out in relief, as her tensed body relaxed, she didn't notice how her temperature had dropped earlier until she felt her palms warming up again.

“Thank..thank you for saving me” the maid stuttered meekly as she clasped her palms together.

Raine shook her head, “it's nothing besides I was in trouble as well.

be careful when walking next time” she said and left the kitchen, changing her mind.

She didn't want another mess to be related to her again, it would be testing her mother's limits today the more.

Soon the guest started arriving, the hall was filled it seemed as if the whole pack was present.

She smiled sadly, if it was to be her in place of Alice the hall would be vacant, not even her parents would be present, she shook her head at the thought as she left for the garden.

She wanted to stay there and wait for Raphael, rather than staying inside and feeling like a total outcast, like they made her.

Meanwhile, Raphael had dressed in a golden attire, combing his blonde hair to the back.

In his hand was a small box bearing a diamond bracelet as a symbol of love.

He left his house, with the intention of proposing to Raine.

That night Rapheal felt weird, from heightened senses to hotness, those feelings weren't unfamiliar.

He had read about the mate bond symptoms from the age of eighteen, giving him the five years knowledge of how it happens and considering he was different he needed to be prepared.

Raphael was a man who dreamt of having a mate, despite being reserved and strict.

A smile touched his lips as he thought of the moon goddess approving their love, stopping before the alpha's Mansion he stepped out of the carriage.

The symptoms became stronger as he strides further into the mansion, his heart beating faster.

He blinked rapidly as his sight became blurry then sharp.

Rapheal felt his wolf clawing at his mind, trying to come out to seek for his mate,to reach and hold her.

He gritted his teeth trying to hold it down and not to scare his beloved.

Raine who had unknowingly slept off in the garden woke up, her eyes went to the dark sky and the moon which had already appeared in its full form shading its light to the garden.

she gasped and left the garden to the front side of the mansion to see if he had arrived as it was already, the moon was set and the party had already begun.

she caught a glimpse of Raphael who walked unsteadily, his eyes sharpened as they saw her from afar.

‘Mate, mate, mine’ his wolf growled in anticipation as he walked further, his breathing increased, relief flushed through him it was Raine. His beloved.

Raine rushed to him, holding him by the shoulders.

“Are..are you alright” her voice rang like a distant bell as he clung onto her desperately, his nose buried into her neck.

“Mate” Raphael purred and sniffed her, his brows furrowed as confusion and displeasure marred his handsome face, he instantly shoved her away in a split second.
