Chapter 7

C7: Perfect Couple

Alice gulped, and shook her head.

“I..I don't know, don't look at me that way” she muttered, her voice barely audible.

Raphael chuckled but the look in his eyes was still the same. “Let's continue our practice”.

Once it was evening, Alice hurried back home, the incident never left her mind.

She decides to investigate.

Meanwhile the assistant physician had just left Raine's room, her face stoic as she walked past Alice who raised a brow.

She went straight to her room to freshen up, what she knew was that Raphael was not just anyone and she would certainly not leave him for anyone.

A week later, Raine was back on her feet even though her wounds weren't healed entirely but it was bearable.

Alice made sure she wasn't aware of who her new tutor was as they rode the carriage to the training ground.

The carriage stopped with a creaking sound, the girls got down while Alice was happy to see Raphael and shock Raine, the latter was worried about what excuses to give so that he won't worry himself.

Maya rushed to them, and held Alice's hand “I've got the news you are looking for” she said with a smile.

She is the daughter of one of the elders, getting important information wasn't difficult for her.

Alice glanced behind her, Raine wasn't too far from them.

“You can tell me about it later, for now I am busy” she said in a low tone.

Maya glanced at Raine as well and nodded her head, “fine if you say so” she glared at Raine before walking away.

Alice headed to the inner training ground and Raine furrowed her brows “didn't you train here, why are we going in there together”.

“Oh dear sister, you've been absent for a long time.

Well my tutor stays there which means my training holds there” Alice replied with a sweet smile and hint of mischief in her eyes which danced with her fiery glint.

Raine furrowed her brows but didn't say another word, she quietly followed her sister.

Her brown eyes lit up when she saw Raphael, His broad back faced her unaware of her presence.

Meanwhile Raphael had caught the scent of wild Rose and frowned, he knew who it belonged to and the fact he was stuck with her pissed him off.

“You are late for your training” he spoke without bothering to turn.

Raine turned to her sister who simply smirked at her before looking away.

“I didn't mean to, my sister kept me waiting, right? Raine” she asked, turning to Raine with a sweet sickening smile that never left her face when she taunts Raine.

Raphael turned swiftly, his hardened gaze softened as they fell on her, he strode to her and crushed onto her.

Raine's eyes widened as he held her tightly as if she would disappear, but her back still ached a bit making her wince softly but didn't pull away.

Raphael noticed it and leaned backwards, his worried gaze falling on her, “are you alright, what happened to you?” he asked, still holding her gently this time.

Alice clenched her fist as she stood by the side, the smile on her face totally wiped out.

“I'm fine now, I fell down while in the woods so I had to stay at home and recover” she lied, she had to.

Raphael nodded slowly, and held her hand in his. “You came late on your own, don't drag others down” he stated plainly, everyone could see how much effort she had put in her dressing, with a hairpin sitting perfectly on her hair.

Alice looked down, she didn't like the fact she was scolded in front of others, but then it was Raphael so she swallowed it in.

“You will have to fill the drum as your punishment” he instructed before taking Raine with him to the bench.

“You shouldn't stand in the sun, certainly not when you aren't feeling well” he said softly as he rubbed her hands gently.

Raine felt her cheeks heat up again, she nodded slowly, after a few minutes Raphael went back to the training field.

She watched them practice, seeing Alice shift into a brown wolf, she sighed softly wondering what her wolf would look like if she had one.

One of the warriors sat down beside her, she recognized the male to be Beta Mascot's son Alex.

“Hey weird one.. what do you think of those two, the daughter of an alpha and the elite warrior, they would make such a great pair” he pointed as his eyes narrowed to observe them.

Raine furrowed her brows “as fighting partners?” She asked genuinely but the male laughed at her.

“Are you blind?, as a couple.

They would lead the pack to greater heights, Alice has great fighting spirit, I mean look at her wolf.

Now on the other hand Raphael is powerful, don't you think they would make a great pair?” He asked, raising a brow.

“Make a pair?” Raine asked in a low tone as she stared at the two, “I don't think so” she replied instantly.

“Really? Do you by any means have a soft spot for Raphael? If so, kill it now and harden it, no one would support such a thing.

A wolfless weak entity like you and a powerful wolf, tsk tsk nope it won't work” Alex said with a smug look before walking away.

She knew he was here to taunt her like he always does.

Raine simply ignored him, and occasionally stole a few glances at the two, she felt inferior as she struck her nails together.

She noticed how Alice would lean closer to Raphael, how she bare her neck seductively and would feign dizziness so that she would earn his care and attention.

She gulped, her heart felt like it was crushed, she wanted to march straight to Alice and drag her away by the hair.

But she couldn't do it, she could only swallow her anger and jealousy which burned inside her, because she knew she wouldn't win and everyone would blame her for picking a fight.

This time she would be roasted by her parents.
