He placed the plate of jello by her side and watched her eat slowly.

“Can I ask some questions?” She asked, her voice small and shaky.

Doctor Morgan moved uncomfortably on the chair he sat on.

“You don't need to now. Just eat and rest. You need a lot of it” he tried to hush her.

She smiled and scooped a spoon into her mouth, her face grimacing in slight disgust.

The doctor laughed out loud.

“Hospital food isn't the best medicine for the body but you will survive” he said to her.

He checked her vitals and began to walk out of the office when her voice rang out behind him, a little louder than normal.

“What happened to him? Alfred? My parents? Did they know I had an accident?” Then her voice broke slightly as she added “Did anyone ever come to visit me while I was here?”

The old man stood, divided by emotion and duty.

He couldn't risk her going into another coma but he had to warn her.

“Sometimes little one, we are better off alone in the world” he replied.

She nodded.

A strong cry rose to her throat, making her almost choke on the jello.

She was alone.

But she didn't know the full story yet.

“Can I have a phone or something? I need to know what is going on in my company at least” she requested innocently.

The man turned to face her.

If only she knew what had gone down the drain this past month she had been unconscious.

“I don't think you would be needing that” he said gently.

She frowned.

“Why?” She asked.

He took a deep inhale and moved back to her side, then he told her the whole story.

Everything……including the part he had played.

“Right now, all we need to do is find a way to keep you safe” he concluded.

“Safe?? Is that ever going to be possible? Will I ever enjoy the feel of life in this world?” She sobbed, her heart shattered at all she had learned.

“You will survive. You are a fighter…….you will live” he encouraged but she didn't need motivational quotes at this point.

“I need to see my parents” she said suddenly.

The doctor stared at her like the coma had fried some part of her brain.

“They think you are still in a coma, Selena wants me to pull the plug and you willingly want to go inform them you are alive. Are you crazy?” He almost yelled.

He wasn't just scared for her…….he was scared for himself.

What if they decided to hurt him or his family for treating her back to life?

Selena had threatened him for fuck sake.

“I would rather be dead than live in hiding. I just want to look my parents in the eye and ask them if they had really wanted me dead. I need to meet with my board of directors to get my company back, I worked years under the sun and sweat to build everything Alfred took from me” she cried.

“But you have to stay alive. You can always start from scratch, I can help you, I still have the money they paid me, you can start a whole new life with it just don't do something silly” he cautioned.

She shook her head.

“I have endured enough from them……..I have sacrificed enough for them, my body, my life, my time, my love and now my company……I can't let them keep taking from me” she argued.

Her chest tightened each time Alfred's thought and face flashed through her mind.

The pain of imagining that the only man she had ever loved……would have sacrificed her life for had ordered for her death was driving her crazy.

She had given everything……everything she could ever give, even to Selena…..she had given her a kidney, what more did they want her to do before they could approve of her, let her live in perfect peace.

Her teeth tightened against her jaw.

She was done running.

No one was going to take her company from her…….that was the only thing she had left of her own and she was going to fight for it.

“So what do you do now?” Doctor Morgan asked.

“I must fight for what belongs to me” she repeated, her gaze distant and empty.

He stared at her for a while and shook his head.

This wasn't the drama he had signed up for when he thought to become a doctor.

If she really wanted to get herself killed then she could be his guest.

“Then I will leave you to do your thinking” his voice sounded tired as his shoulders drooped in resignation.

“When would you be leaving?” He asked.

“Tonight” she said.

He inhaled deeply again.

There was no arguing with a broken woman.

Her wounds were almost still fresh but he knew she wouldn't listen to his protests so he didn't bother bringing it up.

“Alright” he said and shut the door slowly behind him.

He took out his phone from his pocket and dialed a number.

“What?” The voice on the other end snapped at him.

“She is awake” he said.

He heard their breath catch for a long 2 seconds then the connection disconnected.

He shrugged again.

He was done with this shitty drama.

  • THE PERFECT WIFE   Handover

The blogs carried the news……newspapers, journals, influencers, they all hosted one title.“Billionaire wife in a vegetable state after an accident due to illicit affairs”It was captioned in block letters, so huge to ignore.Alfred did not hide his emotions during conferences and guest shows.“I still can't wrap my head around her affair and why she would do that. I was everything she ever needed in a man” he would say, one hand placed on his forehead and his eyes darkened with sorrow. The narrative only got worse.Selena played the victim. She cried, cleaned snot and kept a pitiful face….pretending she was more hurt for her step sister's condition than the “horrible things” she claimed Mary had done to her.Evidence of threatening letters Mary had written to Selena to stay away from Alfred all sufficed.Their debate was that they had always been together……..way before he even met Mary, but Mary, being a powerful woman, had threatened Selena into leaving Alfred for her. She had playe

  • THE PERFECT WIFE   Alive again

“Good morning love” she kissed him and he purred like a cat, stretching lovingly. She let out a tiny excited shriek as her hands flew down to his naked erection under the blanket.“Naughty girl” he smiled, pulling her into a hug.“So what now?” She asked, her voice slightly serious.Alfred’s heart skipped a beat. The guilt of what they had done to Mary washed through his mind once more. His hands quivered a little as he stroked her bare back.“I have to go to the hospital. I need to tie up loose ends” he said.Selena flinched. She calmed her nerves…..making a mental note of just the kind of man Alfred was.“And?” She asked again“We…..party” he stared into her eyes, sparks flying, emotions playing the card of queens.“And?” She asked again, raising slightly on her elbow.“We take all those vacations we couldn't take because of ‘her’. With the death certificate, all I need to do is show the court all the evidence I have against her plus the divorce papers and her wealth becomes mine” h

  • THE PERFECT WIFE   Ecstacy and death

The sharp pain pierced through her skull, pain ramming hard against the back of her head as she blinked her eyes open slightly. The walls were white, the room where she was smelt of drugs and antiseptic. It was a hospital…….she knew it.A man in a white coat walked in with a file. She opened her mouth to speak but no sound came out.Her heart tightened as she gripped her knuckles hard against the bed where she lay.Was she deaf or was she dumb? Her feet turned cold and she threw herself back and forth on the bed.The man walked to her.“You must rest ma. You don't want to harm yourself by moving too much” he said casually, his eyes bored. She frantically let her eyes scan the room.No drips, no bandages…..nothing.She could remember the accident vividly. She could feel all the bone crushing pain but she wasn't given any medication. She opened her mouth and tried moving her mouth again. This time, a sound escaped her throat.“Hel…..help me” she criedThe doctor scoffed then patted her

  • THE PERFECT WIFE   THE ACCIDENT

He flung the papers at her.She bent down to pick them up, her hands trembling. Her stomach churned as hunger scraped at the sides of her stomach.A tiny glint of hope was rising in her… maybe it wasn't over.Maybe there was actually something to fight for.She had grown to become who she was from passing through hell, and there was no way she was going to let these hungry, ungrateful leeches take her hard work away from her without a fight.“No! I would sign these papers, Alfred. We will meet in court.”She watched him as he flinched.A tiny smile escaped her lips. She had hit him with a pawn; he hadn't expected that. She didn't know how she was going to win this game without a queen, but she would try.She flung her clothes out of the drawer, her shoes and bags went flying into different boxes as she packed, a sudden surge of energy spreading through her.She was going to fight with everything she had.To hell with it! She was going to fight. She opened her jewel box again and empti

  • THE PERFECT WIFE   YOUR ASSETS FOR YOUR LIFE

Her head felt like splitting when her breath began to seep into her body. Her jaws felt ten times heavier than usual. She held her head in her hand and gradually lifted herself off the ground. The hand that held her felt sticky and wet.Tears stung her eyes as she realized what it was.Blood! Her eyes adjusted slowly to her environment. She was still inside her house, still in the living room.Karen was holding a vase that was stained with blood while Alfred and her father held her.“You killed my grandchild! You killed my baby!” she was shouting, pointing a finger at her.Mary felt so lightheaded that she pushed herself off the floor.Taking a few staggering steps, her eyes began to spin, and the ground on which she stood felt like a pillow. A sudden force tilted her backward, and falling down seemed like a relief to her.Her father rushed to her and held her before she hit her head on the floor again.“Are you alright?” he asked.Mary stared at him, her mouth too heavy to speak. He
