The sharp pain pierced through her skull, pain ramming hard against the back of her head as she blinked her eyes open slightly.

The walls were white, the room where she was smelt of drugs and antiseptic.

It was a hospital…….she knew it.

A man in a white coat walked in with a file.

She opened her mouth to speak but no sound came out.

Her heart tightened as she gripped her knuckles hard against the bed where she lay.

Was she deaf or was she dumb?

Her feet turned cold and she threw herself back and forth on the bed.

The man walked to her.

“You must rest ma. You don't want to harm yourself by moving too much” he said casually, his eyes bored.

She frantically let her eyes scan the room.

No drips, no bandages…..nothing.

She could remember the accident vividly.

She could feel all the bone crushing pain but she wasn't given any medication.

She opened her mouth and tried moving her mouth again.

This time, a sound escaped her throat.

“Hel…..help me” she cried

The doctor scoffed then patted her cheeks.

“Don't worry you young lady, you will be fine”

He picked a syringe that was placed on a table a bit far from her bed and injected the contents into her arm.

It was making her drowsy……tired even.

She shook her head, trying to fight for consciousness but it wasn't an easy fight.

But she heard his phone ring…..it came from a distance.

She heard him pick the call and say something to someone.

“Yes, she is awake……of course, we would continue with the plan….yes. nice doing business with you” the call had ended and just before she blacked out again, through squinted eyes, she saw him smirk like a creep, his hands reaching for her shirt.

She was helpless……she couldn't fight or protect herself.

A single tear dripped down her eyes as they shut close in sleep.

**********

He felt her hands circle round his waist as he dropped the call.

“What did he say?” Selena asked, her voice sweet and seductive

“He’s going to do it” Alfred replied.

His eyes held something…..not regret but not victory either.

“That's what we have always wanted, right?” Selena asked, her voice slightly wavering.

He nodded…..just one nod.

It felt…..uncertain.

“Talk to me babe, what's wrong?” She said, her hands wrapping round his neck.

“She was my wife, Selena. This is murder we are talking about here” he said slowly

He felt a heavy drooping in his chest, it felt almost suffocating.

“But I am the one you love. It's either her or me, Alfred. Don't you want me to be happy? Don't you want us to live the life we always wanted?” She said, her voice innocent yet intentional.

He smiled, weakly at first then broadly.

“It's now or never bae and I will be by your side every single way” she whispered through the crack of her gap teeth.

She lowered her lips onto his and held them for a few seconds.

When she detangled from him, his eyes were closed.

This was the life he wanted……he was doing the right thing

He was free at last…..his mind screamed at him.

Without warning, he lifted Selena into his lap and she giggled loudly.

“Got any sugar for me?” He whispered into her soft neck.

“You bet” she replied, her face radiating with relief.

Alfred was finally hers…..hers until she got what she wanted.

So she let him do what he wanted to her that night.

While he slowly stripped off her gown under the dim light of the room, Mary battled with her life on the hospital bed.

The doctor had injected her with another dose of sleeping meds.

She relapsed between sleep and reality.

While he kissed her slowly from the bridge of her soft navel to the tip of her breast as she moaned softly, Mary’s heartbeat was slowly decreasing according to the plan between the doctor and Alfred.

When he thrust into Selena hard and roughly, just the way she liked it, Mary’s heart dragged slowly until the very moment Selena let out a scream of ecstasy while Alfred lay on top of her shivering in orgasm, his seed flooding her insides.

At that very moment, as if planned by fate, Mary's heart stopped beating finally……she wasn't part of earth anymore.

The doctor quickly set everything right, the heart rate monitor, the drip bag and ran out of the ward then back with some nurses.

His face tightened with feigned grief as he read the time of death.

A white cloth was placed over Mary’s face…..it was all over.

He stepped out of the ward, his face solemn.

He scrolled through his bank balance and a small smile tugged at his mouth.

Alfred was a man of his words.

His eyes briefly shifted to the lifeless Mary that lay on the bed and he texted Alfred.

“The job is done” he said

A message flashed in almost immediately.

“The death certificate?”

“It will be ready after the funeral” he texted back.

“I don't care about any funeral, just get the certificate ready”

He could read the urgency in the text.

He put his phone back into his pocket and walked to his office.

He had more work to do.

  • THE PERFECT WIFE   Handover

The blogs carried the news……newspapers, journals, influencers, they all hosted one title.“Billionaire wife in a vegetable state after an accident due to illicit affairs”It was captioned in block letters, so huge to ignore.Alfred did not hide his emotions during conferences and guest shows.“I still can't wrap my head around her affair and why she would do that. I was everything she ever needed in a man” he would say, one hand placed on his forehead and his eyes darkened with sorrow. The narrative only got worse.Selena played the victim. She cried, cleaned snot and kept a pitiful face….pretending she was more hurt for her step sister's condition than the “horrible things” she claimed Mary had done to her.Evidence of threatening letters Mary had written to Selena to stay away from Alfred all sufficed.Their debate was that they had always been together……..way before he even met Mary, but Mary, being a powerful woman, had threatened Selena into leaving Alfred for her. With the death certificate, all I need to do is show the court all the evidence I have against her plus the divorce papers and her wealth becomes mine” h

I would sign these papers, Alfred. We will meet in court.”She watched him as he flinched.A tiny smile escaped her lips. She had hit him with a pawn; he hadn't expected that. She didn't know how she was going to win this game without a queen, but she would try.She flung her clothes out of the drawer, her shoes and bags went flying into different boxes as she packed, a sudden surge of energy spreading through her.She was going to fight with everything she had.To hell with it! She was still inside her house, still in the living room.Karen was holding a vase that was stained with blood while Alfred and her father held her.“You killed my grandchild!
