Deandra’s POV

“Congratulations, Luna, you’re pregnant,”

I blinked a few times after that announcement and took a few deep breaths, but nothing could quell the rush of emotions inside of me at that statement.

Who would believe it?

I had been feeling pretty sick for weeks now, and if Daniel hadn’t pushed me to do this, I probably wouldn’t be here right now, receiving the best news in my life. For three years since I had been married to Daniel, Alpha of the Dagger pack, he and I haven’t had a child in all those years.

It wasn’t as if we never tried; it was just that we never could have them. Daniel always joked that maybe it wasn’t our time, but secretly I could see that he wanted a child just as much as I wanted one.

“Luna, is everything alright?” The head doctor at the pack clinic asked to pull me out from my reverie, and I shook my head in the negative.

“I’m fine,” I assured her. I was more than fine; I was happy. This news meant so many things, and the point at the top of the list was that I wasn’t barren and could actually have children. It also meant things between Daniel and me could get better than before, and we could become a real family.

Before it was just two of us, but now we’d have a mini version of us running around, and hopefully before long, we would have another.

“Just make sure you get lots of rest. I can’t overemphasize how important that is right now.” The doctor continued, and I was forced to keep my mind still and my thoughts centered on the present moment.

“You have to be careful about what you eat; your diet matters now more than ever. Whatever you eat or drink, whatever goes into your body now affects your child more than anything, so you need to watch out. No alcohol, minimize the coffee…”

As she made a list of pregnancy dos and don’ts, I zoned out again, but this time I was seeing what my future with Daniel would be like: a child of our own with us celebrating birthdays and major milestones. It was such a happy moment.

“That would be all,” The doctor summarized just as I came back to the present again. She smiled as she saw the look on my face. “Don’t worry, you’ll love every moment of this experience. Remember not every day will be fun and heavenly, but I promise you it will all be worth it when you hold your baby in your arms.”

I nodded and rose from my chair, trying to catch up with her as she made her way to the door. I didn’t doubt that the pregnancy would be challenging, but I also knew that I would cherish every minute of it.

“Please send the Alpha my congratulations.” She told me as she waved me goodbye at the car park a few minutes later. I nodded and started the engine of the car, riding back to the pack house with so much joy and gladness in my heart.

When I arrived back at the packhouse, my personal maid and closest friend, Layla, received me at the door. Seeing her brought back all the emotions I had been keeping at bay, and I hugged her, shocking and startling her.

“Oh my, what happened? Are you okay?”

I chuckled and pulled back, brushing back tears so I wouldn’t alarm her. “I am fine, Layla, and I just had the most wonderful idea.”

Somehow, I had picked Daniel’s birthday as the day I got the news of my pregnancy; life couldn’t get more exciting than that, so what better way to break the news to him than to throw him a birthday party?

Layla agreed with me, and immediately we got to planning. It wasn’t easy since it had been a spur-of-the-moment decision, but when I put my mind to something, I always saw it through. Once I had finished decorating his office, which I chose as a last-minute venue, I invited some of his friends and got to work on preparing all the food for the party.

Layla insisted on doing it, but I was too excited to let her do it. I asked her to arrange for a small birthday cake instead, one that was shaped in the form of a baby. My request seemed odd to her, but she followed through and did as I had asked. I wanted so badly to scream my news from the top of the highest building, but I wanted Daniel to be the first one to know.

Perhaps my baby cake would be a dead giveaway of the surprise, but at least he’d be the best to hear the actual thing from me.

***

The party had started half an hour ago, but Daniel was still nowhere to be found. I had called and sent him tons of texts, but I got no answer back. I was sure they delivered, though, because of the double tick on each message, which made me wonder why he was ignoring me.

Had he gotten so tired of waiting for me that he just moved on without telling me? As soon as the thought popped into my head, I pushed it back out, not wanting to harbor negative thoughts on such a happy day. Today all my dreams of being a mother have finally come true, so what more could I ask for?

“Relax, Andra, he’ll be here soon.”

I looked up as his best friend and one of my close friends, Elliot, walked up to me and handed me a glass of wine. I started to shake my head to reject the glass when I realized no one except me knew about the baby, and then I collected it. big mistake because I wasn’t supposed to be drinking because of the baby.

I collected it for show in the beginning, but after holding it for a while as I waited for my husband to call me or show up to his own surprise party, I took sips from the glass.

“You have a new message,” Layla told me, handing me my phone back. She had seized it when she noticed I had been fussing over it as a mother would do over her child as I waited for Daniel to text me back.

“It must be him,” she assured me, and I nodded, unlocking my phone, my heart filled with hope.

I wished I hadn’t opened the message, though, because what greeted me left me shattered and sent my heart crashing into the pit of my stomach.

“Andra, are you okay? Say something; you’re scaring me.” Lyla requested.

  • THE REJECTED LUNA: HER MATE’S REGRET   Chapter 192

Writer’s POV It’s been two weeks already, and there was nothing from Ryder yet. He was yet to regain consciousness, and his situation was getting scarier as the doctors were not hopeful about his situation. Instead, they kept talking about hoping for a miracle because he had little or no chance of survival. “Our kids are growing faster than I imagined.” Andra said to the unconscious body lying on the bed. She would always come to update him on everything going on in the pack and how things are running smoothly with the help of Daniel and Hope, who have stayed by her side all this while. “You know you’re beginning to scare me. It’s been weeks already; you need to wake up already.” Andra said and started crying uncontrollably. She was trying her best to hold in the tears, but she just couldn’t. She couldn’t keep pretending to be fine, and she hasn’t been able to eat well since he became unconscious. “You need to see your kids; you need to be with me and make up for lost times.

  • THE REJECTED LUNA: HER MATE’S REGRET   Chapter 191

Writer’s POV That day that the war happened and the kids were brought back, it was later realized that Leo was the one holding the kids, and the only reason why he came back into her life was because he needed to monitor their search, and Aliya told him everything, not knowing that he was the one doing everything. She felt like she betrayed Andra, and her brother was in the mix, and Andra warned her not to accept her brother back. She just couldn’t believe that she didn’t worsen the whole thing, which is why she chose to stay far from Andra, and since then she never called or texted. “I caused it.” Hope said a little above a whisper. Andra walked closer to her the moment she heard what Hope said. “No, don’t say that, Hope. At that time you didn’t think what you were doing was wrong, and don’t forget you tried apologizing to her, but she still chose to leave for her own peace. I know that with time she would come around and find a place in her heart to forget about the past a

  • THE REJECTED LUNA: HER MATE’S REGRET   Chapter 190

Writer’s POV “Daniel, you would go back there and tell them that you are not making any peace. Have you forgotten what his mother made us go through? Have you forgotten how your father favored him more than you? This is the time for you to get back everything and make him pay for your sufferings. “Mom, stop! Can’t you see that I’m at peace now? The people are happy; we don’t need war to be at peace with ourselves. Can’t you see that I’m happy now?” Daniel asked his mother who was being insensitive about the whole thing. “What are you saying, Daniel? Can’t you see he is successfully using your head? He wants you to give up everything your father worked hard to keep for you.” When Yolanda said this, Daniel turned to look at her. “I told you that day your dad said you have to promise him that you will take good care of the pack and keep his legacy.” Yolanda smiled; she just wanted to get to his head and make him stop thinking of giving up his desire of becoming the Alpha of the Da

  • THE REJECTED LUNA: HER MATE’S REGRET   Chapter 189

Deandra POV It felt like my heart was burning as I was crying upstairs. I didn’t know how to feel after what I heard Yvonne say; it was just a roller coaster of emotion piling up everything that has happened over the month. I really wanted to disappear and go far away. After crying for a while in the room, I was feeling better. I felt better that I had let out everything that was bothering me; I was relieved to see that my heart was getting lighter. I stood up from the place I was sitting and headed to the kids' wardrobe. Their clothes are still smelling new. They never got the chance to wear them. It’s been months now, and I don’t know anything about my kids; I don’t know if they are okay or not. Instead, I went to live with the people that took my kids away. When I was feeling better, Ryder walked into the room. I removed my face from where he was and folded my hands around my chest angrily. I was pissed with him. I still can’t forgive him for all the horrible things that

  • THE REJECTED LUNA: HER MATE’S REGRET   Chapter 188

Writer’s POV While Andra was still looking at the picture, a call came in. She saw how it was saved, so she didn’t hesitate to pick it. “Don’t you dare prank me about falling ill; you have done it before.” Hope said to Andra while she was with Emma’s phone. Andra couldn’t believe Hope was talking to her mother like that. She was relieved to know that Emma was not lying when she said her daughter doesn’t want her in her life. “You know what? I thought you were going to change. I was ready to give you a second chance after you successfully helped me take the kids, but right now I don’t think I can forgive you because you keep using your fake illness to bring me closer.” Hope scolded on the phone. Andra closed her eyes upon hearing the cold and heartless things Hope was saying over the phone; she couldn’t believe Hope could be this cold to her mother as well. She didn’t want to say anything at first, but Hope kept saying she was lying when she was really struggling with her

  • THE REJECTED LUNA: HER MATE’S REGRET   Chapter 187

Deandra POV I was wondering what it could be. I was so curious that I couldn’t stay in the house for another minute. From the way he sounded, it was a very serious issue, so I was desperately invested in it. I needed to know what it was all about and why I needed to go myself. If it wasn’t as important as he made it seem, he would definitely lose his job. While I was heading out of the house, I suddenly realized that I might not be able to leave the house without Emma asking where I’m headed, and when she asks, what do I tell her? I paused, rushing, and started thinking of what to tell her when I am leaving. After thinking for a while, I decided to just think of anything that pops up in my head at that moment and tell her. “Are you going somewhere?” Emma asked when she saw me downstairs. I stopped in my tracks the moment I heard what she asked me. “I just need to hurry down to get something.” I said to Emma, trying my best to not let her suspect me in any way. “Okay, l
