Deandra’s POV
“I told you not to come here; we can’t be seen like this.” I stopped in my tracks and hid behind a wall, wondering who Hope was talking to. “Hope, that’s my child in there, and you know it.” I gasped a bit too loudly and caught myself just in time before I was discovered. “Keep quiet,” Hope hissed and looked from left to right. This shameless woman, I thought as I listened to their conversation. I should have known the baby wasn’t Daniel’s, but he had been so confident that the child was his that I never suspected anything. “If anyone hears you, our plan will be ruined.” She looked around again before she leaned in and whispered, “I want what’s best for this child, and so do you, so why don’t you just take the money and leave?” I shook my head in disgust at that and left my position behind the wall, ready to go and confront her, when I heard footsteps coming from the opposite direction. I could practically hear Hope’s heart racing loudly in her chest. “Andra, what are you doing here?” I heard Hope’s tiny gasp of surprise at the mention of my name, and I smirked. “I was just on my way to the kitchen when I thought I heard voices and decided to check. What are you doing here anyway?” He looked around and frowned when he saw no one, then sighed. “I was just going to our bedroom to get my phone. Did you see it before leaving?” I shook my head but reached for his hand. “Can we talk?” I asked, changing the subject. I wanted to settle things between us and make sure we were back on good ground again. “I wanted to know if we were okay. I didn’t…” Daniel shook his head and pulled his hand away. “I can’t get past the fact that you threatened Hope and the baby; it’s my baby too, Andra. I would never forgive myself if anything happened to the baby. I would never forgive…” He trailed off, but I could hear the words he didn’t say. He would never forgive me. Tears filled my eyes, but I held them back as I nodded my head. “What can I do to make it right?” “Treat Hope nicely, apologize for what you did yesterday, and then we will see from there.” He walked away after speaking, and I stood there rooted to the spot, not believing how much my life had changed in the last two days. “Do you know it’s rude to eavesdrop on people’s private conversations?” I jerked and turned my head to look at Hope, who was standing there with a triumphant smile plastered on her face. No doubt she had heard what Daniel said, and she was happy that she was once again winning and I was losing. But not for long… “I already told you that Daniel will always pick me over you. Why don’t you want to accept that and move on?” I nodded and smiled. “You’re right, Daniel will never see me the same way again, and I can’t blame him since I can’t give him children.” The next thing I did shocked us both: I went down on my knees and sighed. “I am sorry for yesterday, pushing you to the floor and threatening your child’s life.” I paused before continuing again, unaware that Daniel and Yolanda were watching from a distance. “Daniel was right, you are part of the family now, and that child is as much mine as it is Daniel’s.” I rose to my feet afterwards, sent Hope one last smile, and then walked away. I couldn't believe how low I had gone because of Daniel and the love I had for him. But the main reason behind my actions was I wanted my child to grow up with his father; I didn’t want my child to have a broken home with parents that were divided. *** I don’t know how long I stayed in the kitchen crying when Daniel joined me and wrapped his arms around me. I almost burst into tears when I felt his arms around me, but I held them at bay. “Thank you for apologizing to her. I owe you for everything." I simply nodded my head and stepped away, not wanting to get swayed by his words. "I'm making dinner; would you like something?" I asked and coughed to cover up the sniffles. "We'll all eat." He replied just as his mother walked in and frowned at our closeness. "Since we're celebrating, why don't we get the chef to make something big and beautiful?" Daniel agreed immediately, and I was whisked away to our bedroom by Daniel, who was acting all nice and friendly with me now. Later that day, we sat down to eat dinner, and I was back in my usual seat beside Daniel. I was ready to tell him about the baby, and I couldn't wait for us to be alone. Hope had barely touched her food, and I could tell she wished she weren't seated so close to Daniel. Alas… “Do you both have names yet? I mean for the baby, whether it's a boy or a girl." Yolanda asked, and my fork dropped from my hand and landed on the plate noisily. Daniel shifted in his seat and refused to meet my eyes when I tried to catch his attention. Hope, who loved attention, took the floor and told Yolanda, “We decided not to rush things and surprise ourselves after "Let's make a toast." Yolanda proposed, and we all raised our glasses. "Oh no, Deandra, I think you should drink this instead. I had it made specially for you." Hope said, suddenly rising to her feet just as a maid walked into the room.Writer’s POV It’s been two weeks already, and there was nothing from Ryder yet. He was yet to regain consciousness, and his situation was getting scarier as the doctors were not hopeful about his situation. Instead, they kept talking about hoping for a miracle because he had little or no chance of survival. “Our kids are growing faster than I imagined.” Andra said to the unconscious body lying on the bed. She would always come to update him on everything going on in the pack and how things are running smoothly with the help of Daniel and Hope, who have stayed by her side all this while. “You know you’re beginning to scare me. It’s been weeks already; you need to wake up already.” Andra said and started crying uncontrollably. She was trying her best to hold in the tears, but she just couldn’t. She couldn’t keep pretending to be fine, and she hasn’t been able to eat well since he became unconscious. “You need to see your kids; you need to be with me and make up for lost times.
Writer’s POV That day that the war happened and the kids were brought back, it was later realized that Leo was the one holding the kids, and the only reason why he came back into her life was because he needed to monitor their search, and Aliya told him everything, not knowing that he was the one doing everything. She felt like she betrayed Andra, and her brother was in the mix, and Andra warned her not to accept her brother back. She just couldn’t believe that she didn’t worsen the whole thing, which is why she chose to stay far from Andra, and since then she never called or texted. “I caused it.” Hope said a little above a whisper. Andra walked closer to her the moment she heard what Hope said. “No, don’t say that, Hope. At that time you didn’t think what you were doing was wrong, and don’t forget you tried apologizing to her, but she still chose to leave for her own peace. I know that with time she would come around and find a place in her heart to forget about the past a
Writer’s POV “Daniel, you would go back there and tell them that you are not making any peace. Have you forgotten what his mother made us go through? Have you forgotten how your father favored him more than you? This is the time for you to get back everything and make him pay for your sufferings. “Mom, stop! Can’t you see that I’m at peace now? The people are happy; we don’t need war to be at peace with ourselves. Can’t you see that I’m happy now?” Daniel asked his mother who was being insensitive about the whole thing. “What are you saying, Daniel? Can’t you see he is successfully using your head? He wants you to give up everything your father worked hard to keep for you.” When Yolanda said this, Daniel turned to look at her. “I told you that day your dad said you have to promise him that you will take good care of the pack and keep his legacy.” Yolanda smiled; she just wanted to get to his head and make him stop thinking of giving up his desire of becoming the Alpha of the Da
Deandra POV It felt like my heart was burning as I was crying upstairs. I didn’t know how to feel after what I heard Yvonne say; it was just a roller coaster of emotion piling up everything that has happened over the month. I really wanted to disappear and go far away. After crying for a while in the room, I was feeling better. I felt better that I had let out everything that was bothering me; I was relieved to see that my heart was getting lighter. I stood up from the place I was sitting and headed to the kids' wardrobe. Their clothes are still smelling new. They never got the chance to wear them. It’s been months now, and I don’t know anything about my kids; I don’t know if they are okay or not. Instead, I went to live with the people that took my kids away. When I was feeling better, Ryder walked into the room. I removed my face from where he was and folded my hands around my chest angrily. I was pissed with him. I still can’t forgive him for all the horrible things that
Writer’s POV While Andra was still looking at the picture, a call came in. She saw how it was saved, so she didn’t hesitate to pick it. “Don’t you dare prank me about falling ill; you have done it before.” Hope said to Andra while she was with Emma’s phone. Andra couldn’t believe Hope was talking to her mother like that. She was relieved to know that Emma was not lying when she said her daughter doesn’t want her in her life. “You know what? I thought you were going to change. I was ready to give you a second chance after you successfully helped me take the kids, but right now I don’t think I can forgive you because you keep using your fake illness to bring me closer.” Hope scolded on the phone. Andra closed her eyes upon hearing the cold and heartless things Hope was saying over the phone; she couldn’t believe Hope could be this cold to her mother as well. She didn’t want to say anything at first, but Hope kept saying she was lying when she was really struggling with her
Deandra POV I was wondering what it could be. I was so curious that I couldn’t stay in the house for another minute. From the way he sounded, it was a very serious issue, so I was desperately invested in it. I needed to know what it was all about and why I needed to go myself. If it wasn’t as important as he made it seem, he would definitely lose his job. While I was heading out of the house, I suddenly realized that I might not be able to leave the house without Emma asking where I’m headed, and when she asks, what do I tell her? I paused, rushing, and started thinking of what to tell her when I am leaving. After thinking for a while, I decided to just think of anything that pops up in my head at that moment and tell her. “Are you going somewhere?” Emma asked when she saw me downstairs. I stopped in my tracks the moment I heard what she asked me. “I just need to hurry down to get something.” I said to Emma, trying my best to not let her suspect me in any way. “Okay, l
