CHAPTER NINE

*** NOLAKAI'S POV ***

TEN YEARS AGO

Ozone. Lavender. Mine.

The scent filled my nostrils almost immediately, my gaze scanning the entire park to find where the delicious scent was coming from.

Ozone. Closer. Lavender. Closer.

The scent driving me mad with each passing second, my legs moving purely out of instinct, pushing past whoever stood in my way till finally, I saw her, standing a few feet apart.

Time slowed, and the world faded till it was just both of us.

  • THE REJECTED MATE RETURNED WITH RIVAL ALPHA'S RING   CHAPTER SEVENTEEN: ALRIGHT PRINCESS

CHAPTER SEVENTEEN*** MEI'S POV *** This guy is out of his fucking mind. Genuinely what the fuck? Just when I thought we might actually start getting along, he decides to pull of this stunt? I mean I know I'd eventually have to appear with him in public but I didn't think it'd happen so soon. Plus, we'd agreed to let each other know weeks before. This is taking me off guard and I don't like being caught off guard. "Stop looking at me like that. It's not going to happen, Borin." I emphasise his name to sell my point. There's potentially nothing stopping me from agreeing to this, but this is how boundaries start getting crossed. An agreement is an agreement. Thus, weeks before should mean fucking weeks before. He let's out a deep sigh, refusing to bat an eyelid. Of fucking course."I know. I should've mentioned it earlier." He begins, maintaining an almost unreadable expression. Almost, because if I weren't so giddy from the food I'd just eaten, I'd have assumed he actually fe

  • THE REJECTED MATE RETURNED WITH RIVAL ALPHA'S RING   CHAPTER SIXTEEN: WE COULD BE FRIENDS.

CHAPTER SIXTEEN***BORIN'S POV *** The scent of meat and sauce fills my nostrils immediately I exit my room. It's been over two hours since I retired for the night and for some reason, I can't seem to get some sleep which is unusual especially for me.All thanks to the raging little monster down below. And the stupid heat werewolves experience. Once again, I'm very much reminded of how I don't have a mate. Yet.It's never really bothered me, mostly because there's more important things to focus on—pack business and shit—and I'm usually too busy to dwell on it. But It's all I can think about. Right now. After making several attempts and failing to settle the little guy, I decided sneaking a mid night snack would probably sate this hunger. The scent gets stronger with every step I take down the hallway.Meat. Definitely meat.My stomach growls in response, and I roll my eyes. Apparently, my body has decided tonight is the perfect night to embarrass me. I make my way toward the ki

  • THE REJECTED MATE RETURNED WITH RIVAL ALPHA'S RING   BONUS CHAPTER: NOT TODAY(EVER)

BONUS CHAPTER ***MEI'S POV*** One. Two. Three. Four— Fuck this. A deep sigh escapes my lips as I turn on my bed for what feels like the hundredth time tonight. I can't sleep. I can't fucking sleep and I hate it. I reach for my phone on the nightstand beside me. It's 1 : 43 am. Exactly six hours, twenty two minutes since I arrived the penthouse. After Curtis had brought me food, I'd taken a shower and lounged on the bed since then. At first I'd tried watching a movie, but quickly stopped when I realised it was a rom-com. I hate romantic tropes, because all they do is give false hope and given my current relationship status, I'd rather not give into any form of delusion. When watching a movie didn't work, I tried doom scrolling on social media, which also turned out pointless because I couldn't find anything intriguing enough to grab my attention. Now, I'm lying in a dark room, on an unfamiliar bed, counting imaginary sheep on the ceiling because I'd overheard mama tell

  • THE REJECTED MATE RETURNED WITH RIVAL ALPHA'S RING   CHAPTER FIFTEEN: MY FIANCÉE

CHAPTER FIFTEEN ***BORIN'S POV *** Ozone and lavender. The scent fills my nostrils, immediately halting me in my actions. I don't need a soothsayer to predict that the scent belongs to Chatteris. She might always have her handy omega to mask her scent but he's an omega. He's bound to slip up, even if it's for a split second. And everytime he did, —once when I'd commented on his outfit—I was there to catch a whiff of her. Speaking of scents, why can I catch her scent so easily? Where is Curtis?I exhale deeply and relax into my seat. Glancing to my left, I spot the clock above. 5pm. Woah. I hadn't even realised the hours had gone by so fast. I woke up earlier than usual today because I had a lot of work to do. These past days, have been very occupied and busy for me. Ever since Chatteris' team reached out with a part of the funds, I've been working my ass off to strategize and allocate each dime. Nothing must go to waste. On top of all that, I still had to do an e

  • THE REJECTED MATE RETURNED WITH RIVAL ALPHA'S RING   CHAPTER FOURTEEN: MOVING IN

CHAPTER FOURTEEN ***MEI'S POV *** Ugh. I already hate it here. I might not be into Borin's penthouse yet, but I already know I do. It's been over fifteen hours since Curtis relayed Borin's message of my movement. As much as I hate impromptu tasks, I can't say I didn't see it coming, but it still pisses me nonetheless— how immediate my moving in is. I wonder what's going on in his head right now. Is he secretly excited by the sheer discomfort my moving in will bring me? I sigh in exhaustion and lean back into my seat, fingers tapping rhythmically on the comforter. I know he only means well, but It doesn't make me feel any better. The sound of horns blaring on the road brings me out of my train of thought. I look up to see a frowning Curtis as he steers the wheel to make a U-turn. "I think they're unto us, Mei." He says, his arms flexing as he skillfully maneuvers the steering wheel. "The paparazzi....they know you're in here." He quips, his voice laced with concern. He star
