-Chapter Thirteen-

"We loved her."

The priest says. 

"But our Lord God loved her more."

I stare at her grave in utter disbelief.

"Rest in peace, Gina."

Elena cries on my shoulder and I wrap my arms warmly around her and console her. 

Just like her mother, I am astounded by Gina's sudden death. She was schizophrenic and I thought she would beat it. I thought she was getting better and healthier. 

But from what I have gathered, she grew much worse ever since her father died. She kept hurting herself, slashing her wrists and this time, she succumbed to the injuries. 

Now Elena is all alone. 

Her husband died five years ago and now, her only daughter is dead. 

I can't bring myself to imagine how this woman is feeling. How broken and shattered this ordeal has made her. How empty and sad and numb she must be feeling.
