MasukAURELIA
I opened the ointment container and bent over slightly, leaning towards the mirror as I angled my bruised face properly for better lighting. My cheek was red and swollen. I applied very little to my fingers before pressing it against my cheek. The ointment felt cold against my cheek. I rubbed it in a small circular motion, my breathing uneven as I finally closed the ointment and sat on my bed. My mind went back to the conversation I had with Vincenzo and Slade at the terrace minutes ago. As much as I felt proud at the fact that Vincenzo trusted me enough to give me such a complex and delicate job as spying on his arch rivalry, I couldn't help but feel scared. Even though he wouldn't admit it, I know Vincenzo feared Zayn Di Laurentiis a little too much, but he was sending me there on a very dangerous errand. If Zayn finds out I was sent to spy on him I wouldn't come out of there alive, but I was going to do it anyway. I owe it to Vincenzo. He took in me when I ran away from home years ago. I swallowed hard as I tried not to let the bitter memory surface. My locket dangled out from my neck and I tucked it back into my top, keeping it away from view. I heaved a sigh and bounced on my bed, trying to get ready for tomorrow. I woke up earlier than I anticipated out of habit. On a normal day I would be up by 4, trying to get ready to prepare for Vincenzo's daily errands and undercover bodyguarding but today was different, he didn't have any errands for me, infact, he cancelled things I was supposed to do today all so that I can get fully prepared for what I was getting into. I had a quick shower, the bruise on my cheek was less prominent now. Changing into my training gear I headed to the training area. Bodyguards were around, patrolling everywhere and making sure no one had snuck in the middle of the night or something. They greeted me like I was their higher up as I passed them. I pushed open the door of the room. The boxing ring was still empty, I was surprised Slade wasn't in here yet to start his daily training then I remembered that I woke up earlier than usual. I put the bottle of water on the ground as I stared at the punching bag in the middle of the ring. Everywhere was so silent I could hear my own breathing. I quietly went under the ropes that secured the ring and tossed the gloves aside, refusing to put them on. I stared at the dangling bag in the middle, and I started punching. With every hit I could feel my painful memories return. Every punch got even more powerful, my fist was on fire, but that didn't stop me. It felt like the splitting pain in my fist was covering up the aching pain in my chest. But it didn't work, I was still only thinking of Camela. I kept punching the bag furiously and when I stopped for a second it hit me square in the face, pushing me back and I landed on my butt. I whimpered softly as I wiped sweat off my temple, my fist bruised. “You shouldn't be training without gloves if you're going to be punching that hard.” A voice broke the silence. My head whipped to the side and I saw Vincenzo leaning by the door of the training room, his arms folded. He pushed himself off the wall and picked up the bottle of water I dropped earlier and got into the ring. He stared down at me and stretched out his hand. I grabbed it and he pulled me up to my feet. He passed me the bottled water and I opened it and gulped it down. “Let's go one on one,” he said. I looked at him in surprise. “You've gotten better, I want to be sure you're not going to actually beat me in a fist fight,” Vincenzo Greco said with a chuckle. I put the bottle aside again and took a stance. Vincenzo mirrored my stance and before you know it, we were at it. It was a tough one. It wasn't the usual fist fight I had with drunk gamblers or high smokers on the street. I was actually wrestling with the powerful Vincenzo Greco, the man who taught me to be what I am today. I could feel myself already losing but I didn't give up. I noticed after a while that Vincenzo still wasn't able to overpower me, it was something he could have done minutes ago but he hasn't. I couldn't tell if he deliberately didn't or I was just good enough that he hadn't seen the chance. I totally forgot all about Camilla. He had a way of oddly taking things off my mind anytime we trained. He suddenly threw a punch to the side of my stomach and flipped me over his shoulder, throwing me to the ground. I groaned in pain, holding my side as I laid on the floor. “You got better, I'm so proud of you nova,” Vincenzo smiled down at me, his handsome features etched with pride. I rolled and pushed myself up. “Now go take a shower and let's discuss how you're supposed to carry out the mission.” I nodded and followed him out of the training room. Slade was already standing outside keeping guard. He didn't glance at me, instead he walked up to Vincenzo and whispered something in his ear. “Be in my office in 30 minutes, I've got something to handle,” He said, his face stone cold as he briskly walked away, Slade following him closely. I headed to the bodyguard quarters to wash off my sweat. My face turned pale. My locket was gone.ZAYNI walked confidently to the elevator. Leonard was waiting outside Infront of the car by the time I got to the entrance. He opened the car door before the chauffeur could come over and I got him. He got in beside me and shut the door close.“Cancel any recruitments for new bodyguards, I found one already… including the fake fiancee issue.” I said adjusting my tie.“Including the fake fiancee?” He asked surprised.“You heard me…”“Just like that, you immediately discussed the contract with her, no background check, you don't know who that person is…”“I told Jade to handle that, I found a once in a blue moon opportunity I wasn't going to let it slip between my fingers. I'll rather seize the opportunity now and bear whatever consequences it has than let it slip between my fingers?” Lorenzo looked confused.“They're millions of girls out there that would readily agree to that contract, there's nothing rare about that,” he grumbled.“They're millions of girls that would do that but I
AURELIA He picked up the cup and walked towards my table to sit down. He didn't talk, instead he picked up stacks of papers on his desk and started scanning through each and every sheet until he came across one. He paused, looked at me and looked back at the paper.“Celez Martins…” he read out. I clasped my hands on top of my knee, suddenly conscious that I was sitting right in front of the very man I was sent to spy on. That would explain the dangerous aura that radiated off him when I first set eyes on him.“28, orphan, attended only high school before becoming a drop out….”Vincenzo did a great job in putting my personal life out there on the report.“Interesting,” he said and dropped the paper. He stood up, pressed something on his table and walked towards the window. Jade walked in seconds later, his arm still dangling awkwardly beside him.“I need you to run a background check on her and get back to me.” Jade stared at Zayn in disbelief “You're seriously not thinking of hiring
AURELIA I looked up and cursed internally when I realized I lost my cool. Now I was getting kicked out of here because I couldn't control my temper. I was starting to think about how disappointed Vincenzo was going to be when he discovered I got kicked out on the first day when I suddenly noticed the man who had interrupted the squabble between me and Jade.I stared at him.He stood there like a shadow carved from marble, impossibly still, and for a heartbeat the world around us seemed to narrow until only he remained. His face was almost too perfect to be real, high, sharp cheekbones that could cut glass, a strong, defined jawline, and a straight nose that spoke of old-world aristocracy. Full lips pressed into a hard line, and dark, thick brows framed eyes so black they looked like polished onyx, swallowing light instead of reflecting it. Those eyes... God, they pulled you in and warned you away at the same time. His skin was smooth and lightly tanned, stretched over features so sy
AURELIA The massive iron gates creaked open like they didn’t really want to let me in, that low mechanical rumble vibrating through my chest as I walked up the long, winding driveway. Even from a distance, the mansion hit me hard. It was huge, almost ridiculously huge. The place stretched out in every direction with dark wings, sharp black roofs, and towers that faded into the misty hills behind it. I remember thinking you could probably wander around inside for days and still get lost. Hell, I already felt small and swallowed up just looking at it.The outside was this cold mix of sleek modern lines and old-money menace. Dark stone walls shot through with black marble, massive windows that looked like sheets of polished obsidian, and just enough gold to catch the light. Thick ivy crawled up one whole side in a way that felt deliberate, like even the plants here had been trained to look expensive and slightly threatening.Bodyguards were everywhere, posted around the grounds like sil
AURELIA I took one final last look at the room. I didn't know if I would be coming back here. I was going to spy on a dangerous Mafia heir, gather information and records and send them to Vincenzo, I was basically going there to ruin him. If I succeeded I guess I was born to be lucky for once in my already miserable life and if I get caught I'm definitely not coming out of it alive. I sighed and closed the door behind me. Vincenzo was in his office when I walked in. His handsome face was completely focused and serious as he had a discussion with Slade. He looked so dangerous I had to remind myself that this was another mafia Don I shouldn't disappoint. Our familiarity and closeness made me forget how dangerous he can be sometimes. I put it at the back of my mind to not disappoint me. He has been treating me like his own blood for 11 years now, there's no saying that he might switch on me if I play funny, no one messes with Vincenzo and I'll try not to mess with him. He dismissed Sla
AURELIA'S POVI didn't wait for a shower before I immediately walked out and headed back to the training room. I searched everywhere, my heart hammering in my chest as I crawled on my knees looking everywhere for it. It might seem like just a very ordinary locket but it's the only thing I have that reminded me of my little sister. Loosing the locket felt like I lost the only part of her that I had.I never took that locket with me when I was going on missions for Vincenzo. I knew I was more likely to get into fights on such errands and I miss loose it. I've always been careful.I knew the only place I could have misplaced it was right here in this training room. I walked towards the boxing ring and searched the floor if it had dropped when the punching bag hit me on my face or when Vincenzo and I trained. That was when it hit me. What if it was with Vincenzo? I tried to think of what reason he could have to take off my locket without my knowing but I couldn't think of one. I ran my
