CHAPTER 1: PUTTING ME IN MY PLACE
VENUS: “Venus! Venus! Where’s that little piece of trash?” I heard Cynthia yelling my name upstairs and my heart skipped multiple beats. Whenever she calls me in that manner, there's trouble for me. “I'm here,” I answered weakly, scrubbing harder on the marble floor. My knees hurt from kneeling all day and my stomach wouldn't stop growling. This has been my life since I was ten years old. Cynthia matched furiously down the stairs with a couple of her friends. I tightened my grip on the brush, knowing what they're capable of. “Why haven't you cleaned my room yet?” She glared at me furiously and I kept my gaze down. I didn't want to offend her in any way because doing that would earn me several strokes of cane from my uncle. "You lazy rat, how long does it take to mop the floors of this mansion? You're worthless and I'm tired of seeing your ugly face," Cynthia was my uncle's daughter and she liked to call herself the princess of the family who would one day marry a noble Prince. I didn't utter a word but kept scrubbing. She grabbed my hand and twisted it so hard I almost screamed. “I'm talking to you, little rat. How dare you ignore me?” “I. I've cleaned your room already, Cynthia.” “Liar!” she screamed. “Go upstairs now and have my room properly cleaned.” I bit on my lower lip and headed to Cynthia’s room with my cleaning tools. This was the third time today. As I walked past her, she dragged my hair so hard I lost balance and spilled some water on the floor. “Pathetic!” she hissed and they all laughed at me. I cleaned up the water and continued moving. She always made me clean her room several times a day so that my uncle could whip me severely for not finishing my work on time. I started scrubbing the floors of her room again and just when I was almost done, she barged in with her friends. I kept my head down and continued scrubbing. Maybe if I ignored them, they would leave me alone. No such luck. One of her friends dipped her polished shoe directly into the soapy water and smeared dirt over my work. My heart sank. "Oh dear," Cynthia sighed dramatically, nudging my bucket with the tip of her shoe until the water sloshed onto my lap. "You missed a spot." Her friends laughed. I clenched my jaw and willed myself to stay silent. But after years of this torment, something inside me snapped. "You did that on purpose." They all stopped laughing. Cynthia’s eyes darkened as she crouched beside me. "What did you just say?" I swallowed hard. "I said…" She slapped me hard on my cheeks before I could finish my sentence. My head flew to the wall nearby and I felt a sharp pain spread across my skull. But I wasn't prepared for what happened next. Cynthia gasped loudly and staggered back, clutching her cheek as if she were the one who had been hit. "How dare you!" she wailed. "You hit me!" "What?" I was rendered speechless. "I didn’t even.." I could hear heavy footsteps down the hall. My stomach dropped. Uncle Raymond was ruthless when it came to whipping me and he believes whatever Cynthia tells him. "Venus!" I turned just in time to see my uncle storming toward me, his face twisted in rage. His wife, Margaret was right beside him. Cynthia sniffled, and tears gathered in her blue eyes as she played the victim flawlessly. "She slapped me, Dad," Cynthia whimpered, hiding her smirk behind her trembling hands. "No, I didn't!" I cried, as I moved backward, bracing myself for what would come next. "She.." I felt another pain across my face as Aunt Margaret’s palm struck me. I staggered back, my vision blurring from the force of it. "How dare you raise your filthy hand against my daughter!" she seethed, her grip tightening on my arm until It felt as if my bone was about to crush. . "I swear, I didn’t touch her!" My voice cracked as I looked at her for mercy but my nightmare was just about to begin. "She’s lying!" “Step aside, Margaret, let me handle this.” When I heard my uncle's voice, my knees buckled. "Did you just say my daughter lied?” His voice was full of venom. I shook my head as I moved backward. “Cynthia would never lie.” Margaret maintained. “You, on the other hand, are nothing but a burden!" Cynthia and her friends snickered behind her. My uncle always had a whip ready. When he raised his hand and the whip connected with my skin, I gasped and trembled in pain. The whip kept coming and I scurried to one corner of the room, whimpering and trembling. This has gone on for years but the pains never felt any better. Uncle Raymond continued to lash at me until my entire body was covered in fresh wounds. Blood sipped through my fragile skin and I could do nothing but sob. "Since you have the strength to fight, you must not be working hard enough," uncle Raymond continued coldly. "No dinner for you tonight. And if I hear one more complaint, I’ll make sure you regret it." My heart was grieved. I haven't eaten in three days. "Please," I whispered, hating how weak my voice sounded. "I haven't eaten—" "Then maybe you'll learn to be grateful for what little you get," he snapped. "Finish your work. Now." With that, my uncle and aunt turned on their heels and strode away. Cynthia and her friends followed with a victorious smirk. I remained frozen, my cheek throbbing, my body aching and my stomach twisting painfully. I cleaned my tears quickly because I had learned long ago that tears only made things worse. As I picked up the brush, knelt back down, and started to scrub, I felt a violent twist in my stomach and before I could make sense of what was happening, the floor before me was filled with a substance that looked like acid.CHAPTER: A DAY OF CROWNS AND PROMISESVENUS:It's my birthday, guys, and my mates birthday as well. The sun rose like a golden trumpet over the horizon, and from the very first rays that spilled into my window, I knew today would be like no other.I hardly slept last night out of excitement and anticipation. So I was up very early and moved around the mansion as if I was inspecting a project. If everything goes as planned and I'm crowned Luna, this kingdom will be mine. A slave girl who came here at the brink of death was about to be crowned Luna. “Hey, Luna.”I turned to see Crystal standing behind me. She has been as excited as I was about this event. Jenna stood beside her, grinning. She's genuinely happy for for me.“Hey besties,” I responded as I walked over and pulled them into a hug. “Let's go get your nails done, Luna,” Jenna stated. “You need to look your best today.” “Right now?”“Yes, right now. We don't have all day and the nails have to dry before you can take your ba
CHAPTER 81: GETTING THINGS DONE FOR THE EVENT Venus:Conrad stood beside me, waiting to be given instructions. I glanced up at him. “Make sure the Elders from the Royal Archives receive priority seating. Venus is their grandchild, even though they don't know it yet,” I added.Conrad nodded. “They’ll be arriving via air escort to Silver Hill, then we’ll escort them personally to the manor.”“Good.” I was pleased. Conrad was someone I could only trust in to deliver. And he knows everything had to be perfect.“I’ll be heading to Willowmist in a few hours. The jewelers there are finalizing the moonstone ring,” I said softly, almost to myself. “I’ve waited years to place a ring on my mate’s finger.”Conrad gave a low whistle. “You’re giving her the Nightstone Ring?”“Yes I am. It belonged to my grandmother,” I confirmed. “Forged in fire and bathed in moonlight. I’ve kept it hidden for years. It's time to slip it on her finger.”He clapped his hands behind his back. “She’ll be speechless.
CHAPTER 80: REFLECTING ON THE MOMENT. MAXINE’S POV:I was sitting on my patio, sipping a glass of wine when Crystal and Venus drove in. She packed the Range Rover Sport in the garage and they both stepped down, carrying loads of shopping bags.I smiled at them broadly. I was happy they were getting along. “Hey,” I said as they approached. My eyes widened when they both came and gave me a kiss on both cheeks at the same time. This was new.“Hope you had a good time?” I asked, glancing from one beautiful face to the other.Venus nodded cutely.“We did, thanks to your blackcard,” Crystal responded gleefully.I chuckled, stood and hugged them both.I’d always believed that the Moon Goddess had destined someone exceptional for me. Growing up as the heir to the Bloodclaw Pack, I was raised on tradition, honor, and the belief that one day, a royal she-wolf would stand by my side. My father, Alpha Dorian, used to tell me, “Royal blood recognizes royal spirit.” And I believed him.You see,
CHAPTER 79: THE BIRTHDAY PLANNING VENUS:I think my heart actually stopped for a full second after I heard Maxine declare that he'll mark me on my birthday and make me his Luna. It's so funny how life can change within a short period. Two months ago, I had arrived here as a slave, half dead, as a surrogate for the ruthless Alpha. And now I was about to be crowned the Luna of one of the largest packs in North America.I stood on my toes and kissed Maxine on his lips. This was the first time I initiated a kiss. “You're getting bolder,” He smirked and kissed me passionately, pulling me closer to himself. I didn't resist. I just leaned forward and rested my head on his shoulder, inhaling his manly scent which instantly turned me on.He ran his hand up and down my back while the other hand squeezed my ass gently. I was getting wet down there and a soft moan escaped my lips before I could stop it. He cupped my face with his hands and kissed me again."I will make Crystal help out with
CHAPTER 78: I WANT TO HAVE YOUR PUPVENUS:Hearing Maxine’s words, my body flushed. Sometimes I pinched myself to make sure I wasn't dreaming. This was the same Maxine who had called me a slave every chance he got, tried to choke me to death several times, humiliated me by making me serve his girlfriend and sending me out of his mansion. Now he acts like his life revolves around me.This is proof that no condition is permanent.“I’m not going to force you to have sex with me. We’ll only make love when you're willing,” he added quickly, misreading the silence in my eyes. “I’ll court you if I have to. I’ll sleep on the floor for a hundred nights if that’s what you need. But I want this to be clear. The child we create will inherit the throne of two bloodlines—mine and yours. This isn’t just love, Venus. It’s legacy.”A shiver went down my spine. The room suddenly felt too warm. My palms tingled. I just didn't know what to say to him yet He took a cautious step forward. “I won’t force y
CHAPTER 77: I WANT TO SEEK REVENGE FOR MY PARENTS VENUS:Maxine didn't take his eyes off me while my mind was in a complete turmoil. I asked Elspeth a few more questions but she had no more information for me.“Thanks for your help, ma'am,” I said as I rose to my feet. I was already exhausted, going from one city to another. And the discovery of my past was exhausting enough. Maxine rose to his feet too and held my hand in his gently. He has been doing that a lot these days. I believe it was his own way of letting me know he will always be by my side.“You're okay?” he asked as he glanced at me.“Not really. But I can handle it,” I responded quietly.Elspeth took a long look at me. “I wish you a good future, child. Don't worry, you have a special destiny and no one can stop it.” I forced a smile. “Thank you so much. I really appreciate your help.”She turned to Maxine. “Are you her mate?”He nodded. “Yes I am.”“Do your best to make her happy. I heard about the death of her adoptiv
