Chapter 15.

IT'S NOT THE END.

Clary's POV.

“Hey, where are you going to?” Colin asked, gripping Stella's arm as he held her back. “What's going on here? What business do you have with him?”

“I am so sorry, Colin.” she said, with an apologetic look in her eyes. “I didn't mean to, but I had no choice.”

“Are you kidding me right now?” he asked, blinking his eyes rapidly in confusion. “What do you mean by you had no choice? Did he threaten you to do this? How much did he offer?”

“Excuse me,” — the man called, raising a hand as he brought our attention to him. “I have a name and would really appreciate it if you call me by my name. It's Dawson, alright? Dawson.”

“I don't care who you are.” Colin said, with an edge to his voice. “I am going to address you the way I want. Besides, I wasn't talking to you. I was talking to her.”

“Well, don't say I didn't warn you.” Dawson said, cocking the rifle in his grip as the smile on his lips took a deeper curve. “I don't know who exactly, but one

Chapter 84.SOMETHING IS COMING.Clary's POV.While walking with Mrs Johnson, I glanced over my shoulder again. I couldn't tell how many times I'd done that, but I just wanted to be sure that Hayley was still coming behind us. For a moment, her footsteps went silent as if she suddenly changed her mind again. I couldn't say exactly what made her change her mind to leave with us, but I could only hope that it was enough reason for her not to return. Meanwhile, she was right behind us. “You want to have a word with her?” Mrs Johnson's voice cut through my thoughts.“Pardon?” the word jolted out of my mouth.“Do you want to have a conversation with her?” she reiterated, as we walked across the road, to where she parked her car.“No, I don't think it's the best time to do so.” I said, with a brief smile. “If anything, I believe she needs some time alone. She must have been through a lot these past few hours.” “You think so?” she stopped walking as we got to the spot where her car was pa

Chapter 83.NOT ANYONE, BUT YOURSELF!Clary's POV.“I told you not to look for me, didn't I?” Hayley asked, her voice as hard as steel. “What are you doing here? Why wouldn't you just listen to me?” “You are about to make a wrong decision.” I said, in a soft voice. “I can't allow you to do that.” “Are you kidding?” she scoffed, folding her arms across her chest as she leaned back in her chair. “Who are you to lecture me on the decision I'm about to make? If it's a right or wrong decision, let me be the judge of that.” She pushed her chair backward, and got on her feet. Perhaps, that was her way of saying that she was done with the conversation. But I wasn't. I mean, we'd barely spoken for a little over ten minutes, and she wants to end the conversation already? I barely managed to talk her into coming down, because she was ready to climb up that stairs again and return to whatever room it was that she crawled out from. In the meantime, I turned my face to the side and looked at M

Chapter 82.I DIDN'T COME TO FIGHT.Clary's POV.Wait… what? Sister? I swept my eyes up and down the body of the man standing in front of me, and then turned to Mrs Johnson.“Don't give me that look.” she said, turning her face away. “We all have some past that we don't want to talk about.” Yeah. I get that, but this isn't that kind of past that you try to put behind you. Besides, all it would have taken was just a call to the man who'd just introduced himself as her brother, and Hayley would have returned home.“Why are you here, Maya?” he asked, walking towards the refectory table close to the window. “Is this what I think it is?” “Don't get your hopes high, Trevor.” she said, with an edge to her voice. “I haven't come to pick up the kind of life that you're living. I dropped that life years ago, and I don't plan on returning to it.” “Is that so?” Trevor asked, a hand on the headrest of the chair tucked in the refectory table. “In that case, then why are you here?” He pulled out

Chapter 81.WE MEET AGAIN! Clary's POV.“We need to hurry.” I said, my voice reflecting the urgency of the situation. “We don't have time to waste.” “Just give me a few minutes.” Mrs Johnson said, folding the paper. As I stood by the door with a hand on the knob, I felt my body vibrating to the thump of my heart. Perhaps, if she knew what was at stake, then she wouldn't bother to return the paper from wherever she took it. Besides, she mentioned earlier that she put a spell around the room, couldn't she just do the same so that no one would come in? Why try to clear the table? Perhaps, she had no idea that time was against us because explain to me how Hayley was at The Horizon? How did she even learn of the place to begin with? It just didn't make any sense. If anything, we'd… no I'd to get to her before Eric finds out, else things could really go from bad to worse.“All done, can we go now?” she said, standing behind me.I looked past her. Trust me when I say that if anyone had w

  • THE SCROLLS: RISE OF THE TRUE ALPHA.   CHAPTER EIGHTY — ONE GOOD TURN DESERVES ANOTHER.

Chapter 80.ONE GOOD TURN DESERVES ANOTHER.Clary's POV.I scrambled through my wardrobe searching for the brown gown Hayley was putting on before I asked her to get something else from my wardrobe. Eric's words kept ringing in my head, but I paid no attention to it because he was only full of threats. It wasn't the first time or second time he would threaten me. Neither would it be the last, so it was something I was used to already. However, I'd to find Hayley before he would learn that she was alone, and all by herself. I stopped for a moment, hung my hands at my sides, as I tried to think of where she must have dropped it. As I tilted my head to the side, I found the gown almost falling off the edge of the bed.“There you are.” I muttered under my breath.I took some steps, and picked it up. Mrs Johnson didn't specify exactly what she wanted me to bring; she only said anything that belonged to Hayley, so I figured that her dress should do. Without wasting time, I poured out eve

Chapter 79.A REMINDER!Clary's POV.I walked out of Mrs Johnson's room, but as I got to the dining, I couldn't find Greg or Gracie.“Over here,” the voice came from behind.I turned back, and found them sitting close to each other on the couch. Meanwhile, Greg's hand was still up for a little longer, before he finally dropped it. Going by the look of things, it seemed like they were having a good conversation and I'd interrupted them.If that was the case, then it was good because it didn't seem like she was worried about Greg's hand looking good and fine all of a sudden. But still, I couldn't tell what their conversation was all about. And trust me, it didn't matter much to me. All I wanted to do was fetch anything that belonged to Hayley, bring it to Mrs Johnson just as she had said, so that we could find her. I had no idea how she was going to do it, but it was my best shot at finding Hayley.“Ahem,” I walked into the sitting room, rubbing the base of my neck with a hand. “Is th
