The fierce look between Deucalion and me was broken by the Blackridge Luna.

“Enough!”

Her voice cut through the hall. Everyone went silent.

She stepped between us, her eyes moving from Deucalion to me. “This is a pack celebration, not a challenge ground.”

Deucalion’s red eyes remained on mine for another second before slowly returning to normal.

Mine did the same.

I could still feel my wolf moving restlessly inside me. The Luna turned to me. “Malia, go back to your room.”

I almost argued. Then I noticed Lucian standing across the hall.

He was still watching me. His expression had changed. He looked concerned now, not amused.

I nodded once and turned away. As I walked toward the doors, I could feel Deucalion’s eyes following me.

I refused to look back. Outside, the cold night air hit my face.

I walked quickly through the courtyard.

“Malia.” I stopped.

Lucian had followed me.

I turned around.

“Are you all right?” He asked.

“I am fine.”

“You don’t look fine.”

“I said I am.”

He studied me for a moment, then gave a small smile. “I suppose I should let you go.”

“That would be wise.”

He laughed softly. “Then perhaps I will see you again.”

I looked at him. “Perhaps.”

My mood wasn't good that night after the pressure with Deucalion.

He bowed his head politely before turning back toward the hall.

I watched him leave. For some reason, I felt sorry for him. Then I remembered where I was and hurried back to my room.

I had no idea that behind me, Deucalion was still standing near the hall doors, watching the empty path where Lucian had disappeared.

The following days became strange. I noticed it first at breakfast.

Deucalion was already seated when I entered the dining room.

He looked up. His eyes followed me to my chair.

Then he frowned. “You are late.”

I stopped. “Did you need me?”

“No.”

“Then why does it matter?”

He looked away. “It doesn’t.”

I sat down. That should have been the end of it. But when I skipped breakfast the next morning, he noticed.

“Where is Malia?”

A servant looked surprised. “She said she wasn’t hungry.”

Deucalion’s hand stopped halfway to his cup. “She isn’t sick?”

“No, Alpha.”

He said nothing. But for the rest of breakfast, his mood was terrible. I did not know about that.

What I did know was that whenever I entered a room, Deucalion seemed to notice. If I left, his eyes followed.

If someone spoke badly about me, his expression changed. One afternoon, I was walking through the west corridor when I heard two servants talking.

“She shouldn’t be here.”

“She was never meant to be Luna.”

I stopped. Before I could respond, another voice came from behind them.

“Enough.”

Deucalion.

The servants froze. He walked toward them. His face was expressionless, but his voice was cold. “You will not speak about my mate that way.”

My heart stopped. The servants lowered their heads. “Yes, Alpha.”

“Leave.”

They hurried away. I stared at him. He looked at me. Neither of us spoke. Then he walked past me.

I remained there, confused.

Why had he defended me?

He had never cared before.

That evening, my incomplete mark began aching. I pressed my fingers against it. The pain was strange.

Not sharp.

It felt like pressure, as though something inside the mark was waking up.

I went to the window and looked outside.

Across the courtyard, Deucalion stood alone. His hand was pressed against his own neck.

Directly over his mark. Our eyes met. He immediately lowered his hand.

Then he walked away. I frowned. Something was happening.

I just didn’t know what.

Deucalion did.

Or at least, he knew something was wrong.

He hated the way his body reacted whenever Malia was near. His mark ached when she was upset.

His wolf became restless when she left the house.

It was becoming harder to ignore. He had spent weeks convincing himself that Malia was only an unwanted duty.

A marriage forced upon him.

A Luna was chosen because Blackridge needed one strong enough to carry their blood.

Yet his wolf did not seem to agree. That thought angered him.

He stood alone in his study that night, staring at the fire.

“This is ridiculous,” he muttered.

His wolf growled inside him.

Deucalion clenched his fists. “She is not Aria, the woman I love.”

The wolf growled again. He closed his eyes.

A knock came at the door.

“Enter.”

Aria stepped inside. She smiled. “You have been avoiding me.”

“I have been busy.”

“With what?”

“Blackridge business.”

She moved closer. “I missed you tonight.”

Deucalion looked at her. Something felt different.

He could not explain it. Aria touched his arm. “You have been distant lately.”

“I have responsibilities.”

Her smile faded. “Is this because of her?”

Deucalion’s expression hardened. “Do not start.”

“You were angry when she spoke to that man.”

“That was because she embarrassed the family.”

“And you defended her.”

He looked away. Aria watched him carefully. She had noticed everything. The way his eyes followed Malia. The way he asked where she was.

The way his mood changed whenever someone spoke against her. She had also noticed the way he touched his mark when Malia was near.

Something had changed. And Aria did not like it.

She stepped back. “Of course,” she said softly.

Deucalion looked at her. “What?”

“Nothing.”

But there was nothing harmless about the look in her eyes.

Later that night, Aria returned to her room and shut the door. She stared at herself in the mirror. Malia had taken everything from her.

Her place.

Her future.

And now, even Deucalion was beginning to look at Malia differently. Aria’s hands curled into fists.

“No.”

She would not allow it. If Malia wanted to remain in Blackridge, she would make sure every day reminded her that she was unwanted.

A slow smile appeared on Aria’s face. She already knew exactly where to begin. And this time, she would not act alone.

The next morning, Deucalion looked toward the corridor.

“She hasn’t come down,” he said.

A servant bowed. “Luna Malia is still in her room.”

“She requested breakfast there.”

He dismissed the servant, but his appetite disappeared. He hated that he cared. Across the house, Aria heard about it from a maid. Her fingers tightened around her cup.

“So he asked about her again?”

“Yes, Miss Aria.”

“Then we need to make him see exactly what she is.”

“What do you mean?”

Aria leaned closer. “I want everyone watching.”

“Malia will learn that Blackridge will never truly be hers.”

“Her.” The word stayed in the room. I stood beside Deucalion, staring at the man who had just said it. His eyes were still fixed on me, and I did not like the way he looked at me. “She looks beautiful.” He finally smiled. “I am Alpha Lucius of the North.” He opened his arms slightly. “Welcome to my territory.” Deucalion’s expression remained cold. “We did not come here for a welcome.” Lucius laughed. “I can see that.” The doors behind us suddenly closed. I turned. Several armed wolves stood around the room. Some carried swords. Others had their hands near their weapons. My stomach tightened. Deucalion noticed. “Are we guests or prisoners?” Lucius leaned back in his chair. “Guests, for now.” His eyes returned to me. I stepped closer to Deucalion. Lucius smiled again. “Where's Damascus Blackridge? He's the one I was expecting. Let us discuss the reason you came.” We sat around a long wooden table. “My father has other things to attend to. I can handle all the matters

“Malia is the one going.” I stared at the Blackridge Luna. For a moment, I thought I had heard her wrong. Aria was the first to react. “What?” she asked. The Luna did not even look at her. “You heard me.” “But she refused,” Aria said quickly. “She said she did not want to go.” “And yet she is going.” Aria’s face twisted with anger. “Mother, you cannot be serious.” “I am completely serious.” I looked between them. “Why?” I asked. The Luna turned her attention to me. “Because you are the Luna of Blackridge. You were chosen to stand beside Deucalion, whether you like the position or not. Tomorrow, you will represent this pack with him.” I almost laughed. “After everything that happened?” Her eyes hardened. “Especially after everything that happened.” I touched my cheek. Deucalion’s eyes followed the movement. The moment our eyes met, he looked away. I noticed. So did the Luna. Aria stepped forward. “But I can go. I know Deucalion better than she does.” “That is exactly

  • THE SPARE LUNA   Chapter 21 – FORCED TO STAND BESIDE HIM

Anger surged through me. I stared at Aria, unable to believe she had actually said those words in front of Deucalion and his father. ‘Not that thing standing next to him.’ Something inside me snapped. I walked straight toward her. Aria took one step back. “What are you doing?” Before she could say any other thing, my hand flew across her face. And landed on her cheeks The sound filled the study. Aria’s head turned with the force of it. She slowly brought her hand to her cheek, staring at me in complete shock. Nobody spoke. The Blackridge Alpha looked at me. Deucalion looked furious. Aria’s eyes quickly filled with tears. “You hit me,” she whispered. “Yes,” I said coldly. “And I would do it again if you call me a thing, one more time.” She looked at Deucalion as if expecting him to comfort her. “Deucalion…” His eyes remained on me. “Malia.” I said nothing. “You will not raise your hand against Aria again.” He said. My anger returned. “She insulted me first.” “That do

  • THE SPARE LUNA   Chapter 20 – ARIA'S MOVE

After that night, my life inside Blackridge became even harder. Deucalion’s order had spread through the house. Every guard knew I was not allowed to leave the grounds without his permission. Every servant seemed to know it too. I could not walk to the garden without someone watching me. I could not visit the library without a guard appearing nearby. Even when I went downstairs for water, I felt eyes following me. I was being watched. And Aria made sure I never forgot why. She started appearing everywhere Deucalion was. At breakfast, she sat beside him. In the garden, she walked with him. In the evenings, she found reasons to stay near him, laughing at things he said and touching his arm whenever she had the chance. I knew she was doing it because she wanted me to see. One afternoon, I entered the library and found them together. Aria was sitting beside Deucalion on the long sofa. Her head rested against his shoulder while he read something from a book. She looked up when sh

  • THE SPARE LUNA   Chapter 19 – NO ESCAPE

I had just closed the bag when the door opened without a knock. Deucalion stepped inside. His eyes went straight to the bag on the bed, then to me. “Where are you going?” I lifted the bag and slipped the strap over my shoulder. “None of your business.” I tried to walk past him. His hand shot out and closed around my upper arm. The grip was hard, unyielding. Before I could pull free, he shoved me. I stumbled backward and fell onto the bed. The bag slipped from my shoulder and hit the floor with a dull thud. “Let me go.” He didn’t answer. He stood over me, breathing steadily, eyes dark. Then he opened his pants. His cock sprang free, already thick and hard, the head flushed and glistening. I scrambled backward on the mattress. “Stop. Don’t you dare.” He grabbed both my ankles and dragged me toward the edge of the bed in one strong pull. I kicked, twisting my body, trying to keep my legs closed. It did nothing. His strength was greater. The Alpha blood in him made his stren

  • THE SPARE LUNA   Chapter 18 – THE ARGUMENT

The next morning I heard it by accident. Two servants were speaking near the laundry room when I passed. “The Alpha asked about her again this morning.” “He wanted to know if she ate.” “He has been asking more often.” I stopped walking. My heart gave a strange, uncomfortable beat. Deucalion had asked about me. The same man who could barely look at me for weeks. The same man who told me the marriage was only duty. The same man who moved me into the guest room the moment Aria arrived. Why was he asking about me now? I walked away before the servants noticed me. All day the question stayed in my head. I tried to ignore it. I tried to tell myself it meant nothing. But the more I thought about it, the more restless I became. By late afternoon I could no longer sit still. I needed answers. I needed to know where he stood. If he was going to keep treating me like an unwanted duty while somehow tracking my every move, I wanted him to say it to my face. That evening I changed int
