LOGINDRACO.
My chest still heaved as I sat inside Constantine’s office. I couldn’t shake off what I witnessed in the basement.
I was not a righteous man. I never claimed to be. I couldn’t count the number of people I ordered to kill once I deemed they were no longer needed in this world, or the number of my own people who died while doing the task I assigned to them. They knew what they were getting into when they crossed me or when they decided to work for me.
I usually never interfere with anyone’s private matter, but something within me snapped when I saw him about to strike her.
And no matter how much I controlled myself, I was not able to stop myself from hitting him when I saw the marks on her back. Even after Iris left the corridor, I still demanded an explanation for his act. But he didn’t give any until my Beta came, and together with two of his security, they broke us apart.
I could have walked away, but for some reason, I asked him to proceed to his office to discuss the renewal of his contract on my land.
The moment we stepped in, he began discussing the terms of the contract and the new ideas he had come up with as if nothing had happened. He didn’t even introduce the woman already waiting at his office when we arrived. But I assumed it was his wife.
He continued to yap, but like our meeting yesterday, anything he offered would gain me nothing. I was better off taking the land back and profiting from it in another way. I was no longer interested in letting him use my land for his business.
I just wanted more information on the woman he was hitting in the basement.
I waited for him to stop talking so I could tell him none of his offers were acceptable, when the sound of the door opening caught our attention.
My forehead creased before my gaze turned to look at the intruder, who didn’t know how to knock. One thing I hated the most was being disturbed while in a meeting.
The scowl on my face warped into curiosity as Iris stepped in, carrying a tray of hot drinks. She looked more presentable, and she was standing tall as if her body weren’t shaking from all the beating she got earlier. Her face was bare of makeup, and she wore a white shirt that she had tucked into her faded jeans.
“How many times do I have to tell you to knock first?” Constantin snapped at her.
Her hands trembled as color faded in her face, but she tilted her head to look him in the eye. I could tell she was putting on a brave front. “I asked… I asked Raul… to knock, but… but… but he opened it instead.” She stuttered as she explained.
Who is she to him? Is she his slave? I asked myself as I stared at her, but she didn’t even glance at me.
I was sure she was Felicity’s sister. It had been too long since I last saw her, but I knew those hazel eyes that matched the color of her hair. The combination suited her well. But she looked too different from the innocent girl I met years ago.
I had no idea what happened to her and why she ended up as a slave in this mansion while her sister was living a royal princess’ life. And I wondered if she knew who I was.
“I want her added to the contract.” I found myself saying this, as if I had thought about it.
“I’m sorry, Alpha Draco, I don’t understand.”
“I’ll take her home with me,” I said as I stood up and began buttoning my coat.
A soft gasp reached my ears before the things in her hands dropped, and the sound of expensive wares breaking and the metal tray clanking against the concrete floor resonated around us.
“I’m sorry, I’m sorry.” She kept mumbling as she knelt to pick up the shattered pieces while her body continued to tremble.
“Imbecile…” I heard Constantine’s wife muttering under her breath. “So stupid!”
“I apologize, Alpha Draco. But can I make it clear?” Constantine spoke, but I kept my attention on the woman, who had her head hanging low as she knelt and began cleaning the shattered pieces. “You want to take her as part of the contract? You want my wife in exchange for this deal?”
“Your wife?” I scoffed as my eyes dilated. “I want Iris, not your wife!”
“Yes, Iris is my wife.”
“She’s your wife?” I repeated before turning my body to face him. “And why the fuck did you send her to my room last night?” I couldn’t help growling at him.
He opened his mouth to speak, but I beat him with another question. “And who is she?” I pointed and diverted my attention to the woman sitting next to him, who was eyeing Iris with an evil glare.
“She’s Marion. I took a second wife because Iris could not bear me a child.”
“Refurbish the contract and add her name. Serve her with the divorce papers if you haven’t already. I will come back for her tonight.”
“In exchange for the land, Alpha Draco. I want to own it, not just rent it.” He stood up and extended his hand to me.
I looked at his hand before glancing at Iris. I had no idea if she was worth a whole land, but I found myself taking Constantine’s hand and shaking it. “I’ll draft the contract, but make sure the divorce papers and Iris are ready tonight.”
“Yes, Alpha Draco!” Constantine said excitedly.
“I’ll see you tonight, then,” I said as I walked toward the door.
I was still inside when I heard the hushed tone of his second wife speaking with her. “Do you know how expensive these china wares are? I bought them for Constantine as a gift, and you destroyed them! You are really useless! You deserve to be a slave all your life! I’m glad you’ll be out of here soon!”
I abruptly turned around and caught her with her hand on Iris’ hair, pulling it, while the latter suppressed any sound from coming out, despite the pain in her expression.
A growl rumbled in my chest before I roared at her. “Remove your hands from her!”
Everyone jolted in fear, including Iris.
Marion tilted her head and looked at me, but her hand remained stuck in her hair.
My eyes narrowed at her. “I said, remove your fucking hands off her.” I wasn’t shouting, but my voice was cold and deadly.
She immediately withdrew and stepped back, cowering and hiding behind Constantine.
My eyes followed her movement before sending out a warning to all of them. “Touch her again and I will cancel the contract and kick you out of my land!”
—-------------
I shouldn’t have left. I shouldn’t have assumed that warning them not to touch her was enough.
Constantine called me earlier and said he had the divorce papers in his hands and was just waiting for Iris to sign them. He told me to come at dinnertime so we could all have dinner before we left.
But I didn’t want to wait anymore. I wanted to fuck off from here.
And I was glad I came earlier.
I entered the house with the contract for the land that I would give him in exchange for Iris. The receiving area was empty, but since the front door was open, I walked in without being invited.
I was about to head to his office when I heard a loud sound of a door banging against the wall, followed by the small footsteps of someone running while breathing hard.
I stopped in my tracks with Roman, my Beta, behind me. It didn’t take long for a small figure to turn from the corner where the hallway to Constantine’s office was.
A growl erupted from my throat when I saw Iris running. Her face was wet with tears as she clutched her ripped shirt, almost exposing her chest.
In a few strides, she was already in front of me. Instead of getting out of her way, my arm circled her waist, and I ended up clutching her off the floor, carrying her with one arm on my side.
She dangled from my hold, kicking her feet. “Let me go!” She cried.
“Ssssh…” I murmured calmly as I adjusted her position and ended up carrying her in bridal style, pushing her head onto my chest. It was only then that she raised her gaze, and our eyes locked.
Her lips quivered as more tears trickled down her face. “Alpha…”
“Who did this to you?” I asked in a low, cold voice.
“Iris!” Constantine yelled as loud footsteps echoed from the corridor. “Come back here, you fucking bitch!”
Iris gripped my shirt as she pressed her face onto my chest. As much as I wanted to hold her to make her feel secure, I couldn’t stop the anger brewing in my chest.
“Roman,” I turned around and handed her to my Beta. “Hold her, and do not let her out of your sight.”
“Yes, Alpha.” He replied. It took a while before I was able to remove her hands from my shirt because she didn’t want to let go. But the moment she was secured in my Beta’s hold, I walked toward the corridor where I knew I would meet Constantine.
He showed up from the corner, and based on his expression, he didn’t expect to see me.
My eyes dilated as a growl reverberated from my chest. My coiled fist swung and hit his jaw. He stumbled backward, and the only reason he didn’t fall to the floor was because his back slammed against the wall.
In two strides, I was already in front of him. I gripped his collar with my left hand before I pulled him closer and gave him two more blows to his face. I heard someone scream, and I was sure it was his second wife.
“What part of my instructions did you not understand when I said never to touch her again?” I growled.
“She’s my wife! I can do anything with her…”
He was not able to finish his words when the back of my right hand hit his jaw, and his head swung to the side.
“Where is the divorce paper?” I asked.
“It is not signed…” He smiled menacingly at me. “And I don’t care anymore if we don’t proceed with the contract. I am not letting Iris go!”
I scoffed before letting out a wicked laugh. “Roman, go to his office and find the divorce papers.”
“You have no right…”
Another blow struck his face, and this time, I hit his eye.
“Aaaah!” He screamed.
“Please stop! Please stop! You can take her! She’s all yours!” Marion shrieked.
“No! Iris is mine!” Constantine growled.
“Roman!” I roared as I slammed Constantine’s back against the wall.
“Alpha, how about her?” I was sure she meant Iris.
“Put her down. And move fast.” I said as I kept slamming Constantine’s body, and blood was already dripping from his mouth.
I turned to where his second wife was standing and pointed at her. “If you fucking dare to go near Iris, you’ll be receiving half of my wrath.”
She inched back, almost digging herself into the stairs’ railings as she shook her head, her face draining of color.
“Iris,” I called for her.
“Alpha…” She mumbled, but I had no idea where she was because I couldn’t see her.
“Are you okay?” I asked, trying to speak in a calm tone, but it still sounded angry.
“I will make you pay…” Constantine talked again, and it fucking pissed me off that he couldn’t seem to understand I wanted him to shut up.
Instead of punching him, I swung his body around before tossing him with all my might to the far end of the room, and he ended up slamming against the grand piano.
He tried to get up, and I was sure his eyes went to Iris. I moved swiftly and went to him, grabbing him before he could run somewhere, and slammed him to the ground, my knee pressing against his chest.
“You have no idea what fucking hit you, do you?” I scoffed, and I heard footsteps approaching.
“Did you find it?” I asked.
“Yes, Alpha. And it’s signed. I took both copies.” Roman replied.
“Good. We’ll take both and drop one off at the municipal hall.” I shoved Constantine’s body before I stood up.
“Give me the land contract!” He said as he tried to sit up, while his wife rushed beside him.
I let out a laugh as I adjusted the tie of my shirt before inserting my hands into my pockets. “Did you honestly think after the stunt you pulled, you would still get the land from me?”
“You can’t do that! Give me back Iris!”
“She’s mine. And I want your men and your business out of my land in one week.”
“You can’t do that!”
“Watch me! If you don’t move out after a week, I will burn the building and the whole area down. I don’t forgive easily, Constantine. And I certainly don’t forget things.” I spat these words at him before turning around and grabbing the divorce papers from Roman’s hands to check them.
They both signed it. Good.
“She’s not worth it! I fucked her so much that she’s nothing but a used good!” Constantine continued to spew words with his face turning bright red.
I gave the documents to Roman before I walked to where Constantine was. Marion immediately scuttled away as I crouched in front of him.
“Are we talking about the same woman, Constantine? Because I was sure the woman you sent in my room last night, the wife you just divorced, just gave me the best sex I’ve ever had in my whole life.”
His chest heaved. “You cannot take her away from me... She will always be mine.”
“I just did.” I scoffed as I stood up.
Constantine laughed wickedly, and I swiftly turned around. Only then did I realize Iris was nowhere around.
“Where is she?” I asked Roman.
My Beta’s forehead creased as he looked at me. “I don’t know. I thought you asked her to go somewhere.”
“Fuck!” I growled as I hurried out of the house. It was the only direction she could head where I wouldn’t be able to see her.
“Did you see a woman running…” I asked two of my men waiting by the car, and they pointed in the direction of the forest.
I didn’t even wait for them to say what they wanted to say. I was already running in the direction they pointed.
I needed to find her. I didn’t waste my fucking time and energy helping her, only for her to slip away from me.
PRINCE VAIDAS. Our friendship blossomed from that day, and I just found myself coming back almost every day so we could spend time together. Cassiopeia was a century old when I met her, but as a fae, it meant she had just turned of age. I was only seventeen then, so technically, I was still a year younger than she was. But with how vulnerable and innocent she was, I felt older, and I took it upon myself to teach her about the ways of humans. All along, I thought she was a light fae. I had no idea she was the opposite—a dark fae—someone I was not supposed to interact with or trust. It took time before she finally confessed that she was dark fae, and I knew I should have turned my back on her. Dark faes were known enemies of the werewolves, but I was already too invested in her. Not just in friendship, but in something more, something deeper. My young heart fell in love with Cassiopeia, and it eventually led to intimacy. I had no idea why she was glowing every time we had sex. She
PRINCE VAIDAS.FLASHBACK. “Damn it! I should be doing something else rather than wasting time getting lost in this forest.” I grunted before using my heel to kick my horse, but instead of speeding up, he lagged more. He was tired. And he probably knew we were just going in circles. I could just stop and wait until someone realized I was missing, and a search party would be out to find me. But the fact that my parents—the King and Queen of Nazeer—were already used to not seeing me around the palace, they would never think I was in danger. Unless someone from my school calls them and says that I have been missing school for many days. But then, my professors were also used to my absence from their class, so that call would probably have happened if I had missed school for two weeks. So that would be a long wait before someone looked for me.Why the fuck did I think going into this vast forest was a good idea? Of course, it was. I was born for adventure, but this fucking adventure was
IRIS.“Can we see her now?” I asked.“We can do that later. Let me show you first the progress and the findings we have.” He smiled as he placed the clipboard on a table and grabbed the remote control before pointing it at a VCR. “It will give you an overview and a basic idea of how the project is evolving, as well as the next processes in place…” Dr. Henry kept talking excitedly, unaware that we had no plans to sponsor this project and that this research would end tonight. “That can wait. We want to see the main subject.” Dad’s voice remained cold. I knew he was upset and he was struggling to keep a professional tone. I saw the disappointment that crossed the face of Dr. Henry. He was excited to share what might have been a prepared presentation, but he couldn’t deny Dad’s request. He motioned with his hand and guided us to the last door, where Mom was. “This room is colder than the rest of the laboratory, but the suit you are wearing should be enough to regulate your temperature.
IRIS.The elevator pinged and my eyes widened. I didn’t realize we had reached the area we were supposed to go to. Draco had probably sensed the shift in my emotions because his arm encircled my waist, and he pulled me closer to his side. “Relax. I’m here. I’ve got you.” He whispered, pressing his lips against my hair. I nodded, smiling to myself because I believed him. After everything we went through, just knowing he was with me today was enough. Because even if we ended up in a bad scenario, I knew we could find a way out because Draco was with me. My heart thundered as the two men waiting for us outside the elevator introduced themselves as the main partners for this research. They had no idea we were here to take their prime subject home. All they knew was that we wanted to see firsthand how the project was doing. “How did you know she was a fae?” Dad asked, snapping me back to the present. We were already walking, and the two with us were pointing and gesturing where we shou
PRINCE VAIDAS.The days went by, and I had spent more time in the Knight Stone Pack than in our Kingdom. I was invited to move into their home, which I accepted, but my days were mostly spent alone, coordinating our visit to the enterprise. My father’s request was met with inhibition. Since it was classified research, they wanted to know where the information came from. I had no idea what my father told them but the permit to enter the facility was finally handed to me after almost a week of waiting. There were only three passes given—for Iris, Draco, and me. My father insisted on more men to come with us, but the research facility wanted fewer people to know about the research. After assuring my father we were okay and that we could protect Iris, he finally agreed. But he told me he was sending Brute to look after Iris on that day. It was a big risk on his end, as his guardian never left him unless Brute had his own mission. But it also went to show how much my father wanted to m
PRINCE VAIDAS. Iris’ existence came as a big, pleasant surprise, but the mood immediately dampened when Draco told me that they thought Cassiopeia’s body was being used for research in a laboratory in the South—the Victus Laboratory Enterprise. I was still trying to get a grip that she was already dead, but the idea that someone was using her body for an experiment had me in pieces. I spent many hours contemplating my next move before I was able to make a decision. I needed my father, King Avlan of Nazeer, involved. He mainly never interferes with anything within his jurisdiction as long as they never violate any werewolf rules. He had no reason to shut down this facility, but he could help us gain entrance if he wanted to. And the only reason I could think of for him to help me was letting him know that Iris was my daughter. I only needed to prove it. And once I did, I would tell him that as Iris’ mother, Cassiopeia needed to be respected even in death. If I had wanted Iris to b

IRIS.“What did you do?” I asked but he had already disappeared before me. “Nothing.” His voice came from behind me. He was back outside so I swiftly turned around to look at him. “I will take you to him, and once he wants nothing to do with you, you will let him leave.”My chest heaved. Draco sai

I slid my fingers between her folds, letting her juices coat them, but I didn’t push further inside. I moved away from kissing her and captured her eyes. “
