Grayham’s POV

I couldn’t stop staring at the message that had just flashed on my phone screen. It wasn’t even a long message. It was just a phrase that left me hooked and caused me to smile like an idiot.

I have just finished cleaning the café, arranged all snacks in the show glass, tied my apron, and was ready for the day.

Miles had just texted me. ‘Thanks for yesterday’ the message read. I smiled again and finally dropped the phone on the counter.

Should I text him back? Maybe tell him he was welcome or perhaps offer to take him to the summer house or any of my properties anytime he wanted.

Don’t I owe him an appreciation? He painted my balcony bars.

I grabbed the phone and was about to commend Miles when the door was pushed open.

Two strange faces dressed in Brioni suits walked in. Now, I know a branded suit when I see one and to be honest, no one in this neighborhood could afford such material.

It was either these men who had just barged in were passerby who had stopped by the caf

  • THE SWITCH: 100 DAYS OF ME AND YOU    MANNERISMS

Grayham’s POVMy grandfather’s words struck me like lightning but I didn’t react because I didn’t want to attach more meaning to what he had just blurted. He darted his gaze from Miles to me and then sighed heavily. “You guys are still going to act like you don’t know what I’m talking about even though I’ve just stated the obvious,”Miles turned to me and I sighed. Then I swung my head from left to right. It was impossible. There was no way he realized.“Sit!” My grandpa said and went to climb his bed.Miles and I shared another intense look before occupying the twin couch. I finally turned to my Granpa and I hope this pretense he was talking about was related to our so-called feelings, the ones Glinda bugged me about. My grandpa looked Miles straight in the face. “When you woke up from that coma and started acting strange, I thought it was because a portion of your brain was probably wiped out. When you turned down caviar for the first time, I thought it was due to the coma. I believ

  • THE SWITCH: 100 DAYS OF ME AND YOU    CORN BREAD

Grayham’s POVThe car pulled up before the café, and I immediately got out. Before leaving to check up on Miles at the hospital that afternoon, I left the cafe in Max's hands.Max has been quite helpful and he’ll return to school in a couple of days. At least, it’s a few days to the final ritual and if we both get back our bodies, Mikes will get to run the cafe effortlessly while I return to my company.I stepped into the café and was greeted by the smell of corn bread lingering in the air. I sniffed and then turned to Max who was collecting payments behind the counter. He didn’t even notice me.The smell was coming from the kitchen. I inhaled this scent before when she showed up and started cooking homemade meals. Does that mean that she’s here?Suddenly, she stepped out with an apron tied around her. I smiled and dashed toward her.“Glinda,” I immersed her in a hug.She patted my back. “Hello, Miles,” then she lowered the pitch of her voice. “Or should I say Grayham?”I chuckled and

  • THE SWITCH: 100 DAYS OF ME AND YOU    IT’s NOT YET OVER.

Grayham’s POV“It’s open,” I told Max immediately after pushing the door inside. I entered and he followed closely behind. I slowly closed the door and then turned to him.Max who was supposed to accompany me in my little exercise of snooping around had his entire gaze fixated on the wall. We waited for Candence to leave the room before we entered.Meanwhile, I’m still trying to wrap my head around the fact that she stepped out yet Max and I didn’t catch a glimpse of her or where she went.Max turned to me with his lashes flickering in amazement. “Did she always have those pieces in her bag or did she draw them when she got here?”I sighed, went to the table, and started pulling out the cabinets. I had no idea what I was looking for but I just needed clues on where to find Miles. I had a deep conviction that he was here the night he disappeared.Max walked to the end of the room and knelt. Then he turned to me. “You should come check this out,”I sauntered toward him and was about to

  • THE SWITCH: 100 DAYS OF ME AND YOU    THE WATCH

Grayham’s POV“I knew it!” Max yelled and fist bumped the air.I sighed and went closer to him. “It’s not about what you think or what is real. Right now, we need to do something. That girl is a walking time tomb,”I had just told him about my entire conversation with Elis, Candence’s mom.Max turned to me. “I thought she never lied to you,”Wait, Candence never lied to Miles? They must be close, and no wonder she’s obsessed with him.“Well, she just did. She lied about the exhibition in Tokyo and also broke out of the asylum,” I replied, ensuring my voice's pitch was very low. “She didn’t tell me her ailment got worse,”We were both standing behind the counter.Max sighed and held my hand. “Come with me,” he pulled me away from the counter and started dragging me toward the staircase.“What are you doing?” I tried to free my hand from his clutch but Max won’t stop pulling me.We reached the top of the staircase then he turned to me. “You’re going to confront her. As a friend, it’s yo

  • THE SWITCH: 100 DAYS OF ME AND YOU    IMAGES ON THE BOARD

Grayham’s POVAfter I left the Wilson mansion, I hailed a cab and went back to Kaden home. The sun was already shining brightly and by the time I reached the café, it was busting with customers. Max and Shirley had their hands full. I acknowledged Shirley who was walking by with a serving tray with a nod and walked up to Max.“Any luck?” He dropped the glass he had just wiped on the table.I shook my head. “I’m afraid not,”Max sighed and dropped both his hands on the table. “I hope he’s found soon,”“Thanks for your concern,”Max grabbed his towel and resumed wiping the glasses. “I might not like him but he means so much to you,”“I’ll go freshen up and then come and take over from you,” I said.“It’s fine. You can grab some sleep too. I don’t mind being here,” Miles replied.I smiled and aimed for the staircase. It was kind of him to assist me but grabbing a nap was the last thing on my mind right now. Until Miles is found, I’m not sure if I can even blink.I got to the second floor

  • THE SWITCH: 100 DAYS OF ME AND YOU    MILES IS MISSING

Grayham’s POVI quickly got out of the cab and entered the café. A few customers were seated around the tables, while Candence sat in a corner sipping coffee.Immediately after I walked in, she dropped her mug and came forward. It then occurred to me that all the customers had mugs in their hands. I roved my eyes around and noticed that Max was not in the room.I turned to Candence. This could only mean one thing. She was the one who served the customers.“Thanks,” I told her.“You’re welcome,” she nodded and folded her arms across her chest. “What’s the matter? You left in a hurry a while ago and you look troubled,”I sighed and began to stroke my forehead. “You remember Grayham? My friend?”She nodded.“He’s missing,” I supplied.Candence gasped. She was shocked. Well, I was still shocked too that Miles could have gone missing in such an unexpected way.I cleared my throat. “Can you hold up this place for a while. Max is going to show up any moment now. I need to get inside and chec
