AVA’S POV.

I held my coffee cup close to my skin. The warmth of the coffee was the only sensation I could feel right now. I could not believe I had been so stupid as not to see this coming. I wanted to cry, to scream, to punch something, even to destroy something. But here I was, sitting in the coffee shop next to the person who had made a fool out of me.

Tiana tried to hold my hands, but I withdrew.

“When were you going to tell me?” I asked.

“I was going to tell you, but I was worried you wer

AVA’S POV.I froze in place. Nothing could have prepared me for the sight that greeted me as I entered my mother’s kitchen. Tiana stood beside my mom, helping her make dough for a batch of cookies as if she belonged there. Somehow, she had seamlessly inserted herself into my family life.My mother looked up, and a smile immediately lit up her face. “Ava, you’re home!” she exclaimed, wiping her hands on her apron before moving to hug me.But my attention remained fixed on Tiana. She met my gaze with a sweet, mocking smile that only I could see through.“Hi, Ava. How was work?” Tiana asked cheerfully, though I knew every bit of it was fake. “Your mom mentioned your part-time job. It must be hard balancing work and studies.”“What are you doing here?” I demanded, glaring at her.“Oh, just helping your mom while she teaches me,” she replied innocently. “My mom never really had time for things like this. You should try the cookies and tell me what you think when we’re done.”“This isn’t a

COLLIN’S POV. I hung out in the lobby, waiting for Ava to finish her class so I could chat with her. I held onto the flower I had picked along my way to school. Glancing at my watch, I realised she would be out in just three minutes. I stole a quick glance at myself in the mirror, making sure I looked presentable, and checked my breath, wanting everything to be just right when she arrived.Ava finally emerged from her class, looking as beautiful as always. Excitedly, I waved and called out to her, “Hey, Princess! How was your class?” But as I approached her, I noticed she did not seem quite pleased to see me.Ava responded coolly, “Oh, hey. Class was fine.” She gave a small smile, but it didn't reach her eyes.“Is everything okay?” I asked.Ava hesitated before replying, “Yeah, everything’s fine. I just… I have to go.” she said, excusing herself from my presence.I stood in front of her, “Are you mad at me?” I pouted. Ava sighed, crossing her arms. "Even if I am, why does it matter

KRIS’ POV. I moulded the clay in my hands, desperate to lose myself in the art of pottery. But Ava's pained expression haunted my thoughts, refusing to let me focus on anything else as much as I tried. Frustration built up inside me, and with a scream, I tossed everything to the ground in a fit of anger. Pottery, which was my usual source of comfort, offered no ease for my shattered heart. I never intended for things to spiral out of control like this. I never wanted to hurt Ava, but now it seemed too late to undo the damage.I heard a soft knock on my door, but I wasn't ready to entertain anyone."Go away," I said firmly, hoping whoever was knocking would take the hint and leave me to wallow in my sorrows. But the knocking persisted, and the door creaked open ever so slightly. Collin poked his head through the gap."Hey, bro, how are you holding up?" Collin grinned, his eyes sparkling mischievously."Just go away," I snapped. "I want to be left alone.""Sorry, can't do that. I brou

My parents thought our union would bring unity among our pack and make us stronger,” Tiana explained. “I have been betrothed to Kris since the day I was born, and I grew to love him.”I scoffed. “Is that supposed to make me feel better? You lied to me, Tiana. You acted like you were my friend, and I trusted you.”Tian

AVA’S POVI woke with a banging headache, my head pounding as I let out a soft gasp, instinctively placing my hands on my forehead as I lifted myself from the bed. The beeping heart monitor caught my attention and I realised that I was in a different room, the memories of what had happened before I passed out came rushing through my head. A young lady in white came into the room, holding a tabnote that she scribbled something on “Miss Ava, glad to see that you are awake,” she said. “Do you feel any kind of pain?” “No, just a little headache,” I sighed. “Okay, I will get you some aspirin for that?” she said and wrote something in her note.“How long have I been out?” I was curious.“Just two hours. We ran a check-up on you and you are in perfect condition,” she replies“Thank you,” I murmured.“Wait,” I interrupted before the nurse could leave. “Who brought me here?”The nurse hesitated for a moment before answering, “The alpha’s son and a young lady found you and brought you in, th

AVA’S POV.Kris turned toward me, his eyes widening in shock when he realized I had seen everything. He immediately let go of Tiana and took a step toward me, like he wanted to explain himself, but I turned away before he could say a word and hurried out of the shopping mall.“Ava, please wait… " It’s not what it looks like,” Kris pleaded as he ran after me.I ignored him and walked faster, refusing to listen to another lie.“Ava, please,” he said again, and this time I stopped abruptly.“What?” I snapped, spinning around to face him.“I can explain,” he pleaded desperately.I folded my arms and raised an eyebrow. “Then explain.”Kris shifted nervously from one foot to the other. “I… uh…” he stammered helplessly.I let out a hollow laugh and nodded slowly. “That’s what I thought.” My voice cracked slightly despite my effort to sound cold. “There’s nothing for you to explain to me. We may be mates, but we are not in love.” I took a shaky breath. “I’m just confused about one thing. Why
