Se connecterDami’s POV
“Well, that food was so yummy. I really enjoyed it,” Sophia muttered with a satisfied smile as we entered the room. I couldn’t help but agree. The food was delicious, and it took me back to old times. It was Axel’s favorite dish. He made me love it once, cooking it for me on special nights. The memory stung, and the food reminded me of old times. “You seem lost in thought. What’s happening?” she asked, snapping me out of my reverie. “I’m just thinking about something, but it’s nothing important,” I said lightly. Sophia didn’t buy it. She set her hand over mine. “You’re thinking about him, aren’t you? Feelings like that don’t just disappear. I knew something like this would happen eventually.” I exhaled, weary. “Please stop, Sophia. I don’t want to think about it. Anyway, I didn’t see Doman tonight. He said he would come back or text me if he couldn’t make it.” She rolled her eyes, pulling her hand back. “I’m glad he isn’t here. I hope he disappoints you because you don't even want to listen. That guy, there is something off about him." “Get out, Sophia. You’re only making things worse. The room next to this is yours. Be comfortable," i said, switching off the lights. She left without another word. I let out a shaky breath. So many feelings, all crowding in but I refused to let them swallow me tonight. Sleep would have to do. Next Morning I woke up clearer than yesterday. Yesterday had been heavy but today promised worse. I said my prayer then did some yoga to calm my mind further. I chose a brown body-hugging dress after my shower. It clung to me like a second skin, showing every curve. My makeup sharpened my features and it made me look more mature like a boss lady. Axel will crumble when he sees me, I thought. Soon, he’ll be the one begging for me to take him back. That was the goal, isn't it? A noise rose from downstairs, low voices, and a thud. My pulse jumped. I grabbed my phone and stepped into the hall just as Sophia emerged, already dressed and made up, her eyes bright but cold. “Good morning, Dami. Am I the only one hearing noises?” she asked, brows arched. “I hear it too. And you look gorgeous. Competing with me?” I teased. She rolled her eyes but smirked faintly. “Don’t even start. Let’s see what’s going on.” We hurried down the stairs and froze. Doman stood over Axel, fists clenched, his posture coiled like a predator ready to strike. Axel’s jaw was tight, his fists balled. “Doman! What the hell are you doing?” I yelled. He straightened, smile flicking across his face like a mask. He turned to me, took my hand, and kissed it softly. “Hello, my queen. You look so good this morning I could eat you for breakfast.” Heat flared under my skin despite myself. Why did his touch feel both sweet and dangerous? “Why didn’t you come last night?” I asked, trying to steady my voice. “I’m sorry for not calling. I had serious issues to sort out. That’s why I came here early to see you,” he murmured, pulling me closer. His scent wrapped around me, it was very strong and intoxicating. “You should be asking why Doman had Axel on the floor,” Sophia cut in, voice sharp and bitter. This girl couldn't even hide her hatred towards Doman. What did he even do to her? Doman’s eyes snapped to her. “Who is this one? Why is she meddling in our affairs, babe?” he asked, anger evident in his tone. Sophia hissed. “I’m someone who actually cares about her,” she shot back before turning on her heel and walking off. Axel got to his feet, glaring at Doman. “He barged in and I told him to stay away from us. That’s all!” Doman shrugged, casual menace in the movement. “He disrespected me when I came in. I had to teach him a lesson, and I didn’t even touch him.” “You’re twisting it,” Axel snapped. “I warned you to stay away and you pushed me to the floor, threatening to kill me.” “Listen to the tone, babe,” Doman said smoothly, eyes still locked on Axel. “That’s disrespect and why would i want to kill a person not to talk of my brother huh?” I folded my arms, letting my voice turn cold. “Doman is my man. I won’t tolerate any form of disrespect. Axel, this is your last warning.” Axel’s eyes flashed with hurt and fury, but he said nothing. "Drive Sophia to the company,” I ordered. “Show her the meetings and everything she needs. I’ll call you to pick me up.” I needed time alone with Doman to see what kind of man he really was. "Babe, let’s go,” I said sweetly, and followed Doman out. His car wasn’t expensive but it was neat, with a faint scent of leather and cologne. “Where are we going? Shouldn’t we head to the company together?” he asked, starting the engine. I chuckled. “To the company together to do what? This is my business. Don’t forget this is a revenge plan.” “I haven’t forgotten.” His voice softened. “Revenge or not, I like you, Dami. You’re bold, beautiful, smart and soft. You're everything. I don’t want to be a pawn in your game. I want us to be real. I want you to be mine, and me to be yours.” His words pressed against the walls i had built for three years. Axel still haunted me, but this man, my supposed ally was offering something else entirely. “Do you really mean that?” I asked quietly. “Or is this just another way to hurt your brother?” “I don’t give a damn about him anymore. All that matters is you and me. Let’s make this work. Be my girlfriend, my real girlfriend. Please.” My breath caught. For three years i had orchestrated every move of this game. Now, in one morning, my pawn was asking to become my king. And for the first time, I wasn’t sure whose game I was playing anymore.DOMAN’S POVSophia’s perfume lingered long after she left, a sweet, cloying scent that mixed poorly with the burn of whiskey on my breath. I leaned back on the couch, closing my eyes for a second. Peace was all I wanted. But she wasn’t peace. She was ambition dressed in soft skin and deceitful smiles.“You can’t stay the night,” I told her, voice firm and my patience already stretched thin. Her eyes had flashed with something close to defiance. “You’re sending me out now?”“Yes,” I said without hesitation. “Dami could come at any time, and the last thing I need is her finding you here.”She hesitated. “You think I care what she thinks?”“I think you care about survival,” I replied, opening the door. “And if you know what’s good for you, you’ll go home.”The way she glared at me before stepping out was almost enough to make me laugh. She wanted power, not love and that made her dangerous, even to me.When the door clicked shut, I exhaled and raked a hand through my hair. The silence t
Sophia’s POVMy hands wouldn’t stop shaking. Even after I slammed the car door behind me and left Dami’s house far behind, my heart still beat like i had run through a storm. Dami's words kept ringing in my head.I hadn’t even realized how much it hurt until I stepped out into the streetlight and the night breeze hit my skin. I didn’t have anywhere to go. Not to the hotel, I couldn’t stand another lonely room that smelled like air freshener and regret. And I couldn’t go back to her house, not after what just happened. The only place that made sense was his. It was Doman. By the time I reached his gate, my palms were sweaty. I didn’t even know what to say to him, only that I needed to see him. When he opened the door, he looked surprised. Half-dressed, towel slung over his shoulder, his expression unreadable.“Sophia?” he said slowly. “What are you doing here?”I swallowed, forcing the words out. “I had a fight with Dami. She accused me of things that aren’t even true.”His gaze harden
Axel’s POVAlexa’s face came into focus above me, it was tear-streaked, pale, but smiling. “You’re awake,” she whispered, voice trembling as she pressed a cold cloth to my forehead.I managed a weak smile. “You look like you’ve seen a ghost.”“You almost were one,” she shot back, voice cracking. “I thought you’d died, Axel. You stopped breathing for a minute.”“Hey,” I reached for her hand, my throat dry. “Don’t cry. I’m fine now.”Her tears fell anyway, and I felt a pang of guilt not just for scaring her, but for everything. For Dami. For Doman. For how badly i had lost control. She sniffled and wiped her eyes. “You scared me. And honestly, I think Doman was ready to finish the job if Dami hadn’t stepped in.”I let out a bitter laugh that ended in a cough. “Wouldn’t surprise me.”Alexa frowned, folding her arms. “Why did you hit him? I thought we decided to keep everything on the low.”“He provoked me,” I muttered, trying to sit up. The pain in my chest flared. “And i got angry.”Her
Dami’s POVThe silence in the car was heavy, thick enough to choke me. Streetlights flashed across Doman’s face as I drove, each one cutting across his expression. When we finally stopped in front of his house, he unbuckled his seatbelt without saying a word. "You’re not coming home with me?” I asked quietly, turning slightly toward him.He shook his head, still staring out the window. “After what happened with Axel, I don’t think I want to stay in that kind of environment right now.”My hands tightened on the steering wheel. His tone wasn’t angry, just tired. "And what does that mean for us?” I asked, trying to sound calm, but the words came out smaller than I wanted.“Nothing,” he said simply, finally looking at me. “We’re still cool. I just need to clear my head, that’s all.”The way he said it was so detached and made something in my chest sink. I nodded, my throat dry. “I understand. I’m sorry, Doman. For everything. I didn’t mean to make things worse.”He exhaled slowly, leaning
Dami's POVSomething about Sophia had been off for days. It nagged at me like a loose tooth which was small at first, then constant until I couldn’t ignore it.Her smiles felt practiced. Her hands lingered in places that didn’t need touching. And when the fight happened today. She stepped toward Doman, helped him up and steadied him. I stared at my reflection in the dark glass of my office window. The city lights blinked like someone else’s life. On the surface I was calm but that was the facade i polished every morning.Inside, something kept twitching like a wound reopening. I reached for my phone and dialed my secretary without hesitation. “Ava, clear my schedule and postpone the investor calls to tomorrow. Start the process for a new assistant. I want CVs by Monday.”There was a pause. “Is everything okay, ma’am?”“Yes. Just take care of it.”After I hung up I felt a small, bitter relief. Sophia knocked and came in before I even finished setting the file down. She wore a tight sm
Sophia’s POVThe moment our lips met, the room spun. For a second, I forgot who I was, where I was, or what I was doing. It wasn’t supposed to happen but i wanted it to.The taste of him was sharp with alcohol and anger, and something inside me burned with satisfaction. Doman froze. I could feel his breath against my cheek, warm and uneven. Then, slowly, he pulled back, eyes dark with confusion.“Sophia,” he said, voice low, almost warning. “What are you doing?”I forced a small smile, trying to hide the storm brewing inside me. “Something I’ve been wanting to do since the day I met you.”He looked at me like he was trying to see through the words. My pulse raced. I didn’t move. I wanted him to be the one to either close the gap or walk away.He just stared, jaw tightening. “You shouldn’t have done that.”“Why?” I asked softly. “Because of Dami?”He turned away, grabbing his glass of whiskey and downing what was left before answering. “She trusts you.”I laughed quietly, bitterly. “Tr
