CHAPTER SIXTY SEVEN

When I came in the middle of the night, I felt like I had spent the previous night sucking on a pair of old sweat socks.

I had to brush dry gunk out of my eyelashes before they would open, and when a bolt of lightning flew through my brain, I immediately wished I had kept them closed. I had to rub dried gunk out of my eyelashes before they would open.

A woman's voice could be heard above me saying, "Good evening."

I cautiously opened my eyes, hoping that it wouldn't hurt as much as it had the last time, and as I glanced up, I saw Aida staring down at me with concern in her eyes.

"How are you doing?" she inquired. "I'm OK."

The only sound that came out of my mouth as I turned away and buried my face in my pillow was an audible "ugh."

I could feel the edge of the bed sink as I listened to her sigh, and she said, "Yeah." "It appears that Lara gave you one of the special tablets she manufactures," you said.

"Here," she said, handing over a cup, "sip this."
