The bartender clinked a few glasses as he studied her with a cunning wolf-like glare. He was definitely younger than middle age, but the beard made him appear older. His lips were still curled in a grin. Do you want to understand her? Or did he see what a fraud she really was? Crap! She instantly understood that he recognized her. It didn't matter that her eyes had become blue or that she had dyed her hair a hideous hue that did nothing for her light skin. It didn't matter that she wore her hair straight as uncut grass, thanks to a hair straightening iron, although her sister's and hers was naturally wavy, or that the heavy padded leather jacket gave her wider shoulders and made her seem heavier. Ravena was once again certain that she was about to be exposed as the woman drew in closer. Silva inhaled, her brown eyes growing droopy. Ravena prayed no one could smell that she was a lupus garou and not one of their own kind, despite the fact that she was wearing a ton of ostentatious human fragrances and, of course, the stench from the recent dye job—despite the fact that she had tried to mask that scent by washing her hair with strawberry shampoo. Ravena was going to attack her once again now that he was back. In a million years, no. Because she was mentally sick and unable to handle the pressure of dating the pack leader and not being one of them in the first place, she had killed herself. No, it wouldn't take place again. Ravena couldn't forgive the eligible ladies who had disliked him, with the exception of Silva.He drank his third drink whole and then laid his glass aside. He made an effort to watch his fellow citizens in an effort to forget about his deceased companion, but the woman seated at his table fiercely diverted his attention. The operative word here is "tried," as each of her senses was beginning to fail.She could no longer hear the breeze rustling through the firs or the birds chirping in the trees; all she could hear was her labored breathing and the thunder of her blood in her ears. She erred in her assessment of the terrain due to her blurry sight. The earth appeared to quake. She then lost her balance.She slashed and skinned her hands while grabbing onto bushes and brambles in an attempt to stop herself from falling down the steep hill. She first misplaced her hat, then her spectacles. One earring was scratched off by a branch, then the other. Every branch on her path was entangled in her hair, which was pulling at her scalp and causing the branches and twigs to release their grip as she rolled.
