~CASSIAN~

“It took you one month to pay that visit you promised,” I said the moment Viktor opened my office door, voice low, clipped, but carrying every ounce of meaning I wanted it to.

Viktor stopped just inside the doorway, grinning slow and deliberate, like the predator he is. “I guess you missed me,” he said, mockery dripping from every word. “Just as I wanted you to.”

I didn’t deny it. I just leaned back against my desk, arms folded, watching him like a snake slithering closer - not afraid, just calculating where it might strike first.

A whole month. Thirty days of silence when every nerve in my body had been tuned for an attack. I’d waited for a move from Viktor, for a bloody aftermath after our meeting. But nothing came.

Even Sienna, now embedded close to Aria, had gone eerily quiet. Not the good kind of quiet. The kind that sets every hair on your neck upright and screams that a storm’s coming. Nico too had gone dark, abandoning his usual reckless stunts and calculated provoca

Aria moved gently under the sheets and her body curled slightly as she let out a quiet sound. Her lashes trembled briefly before her eyes finally opened to a soft brightness. She lay still for a moment, her mind still foggy from sleep. Then slowly as her vision sharpened and the scent of citrus and clean linen reached her and recognition began to sink in. She was in Cassian’s room. She blinked again, this time more awake, her brows drawing together. The memory of how she ended up here didn’t come right away. She shifted a little, trying to sit up, but a sharp pulse bloomed behind her temples, followed by a dull ache that ran down her shoulder. Her muscles protested the movement, and when she lifted her hand to press her temple, she noticed a faint bruise on her wrist, soft purple against her skin.It hit her then, flashes, quick and disjointed at first, then clearer as her heartbeat picked up. The rush of last night, the sound of the laughter, the first break in and attack, her sudden

~CASSIAN~I started the shower, thinking warm water would fix my brain but it didn’t. It felt nice on my shoulders and down my neck, but the mess in my head didn’t care. I twisted the handle. Cold hit me, sharp and sharp enough to make me take a slow, deep breath. My muscles relaxed, but my thoughts didn’t.I closed my eyes and let the water run. My hair clung to my forehead, the droplets crawling down the side of my neck and gathering at my collar before dripping onto the tile. I breathed slowly through it until the heaviness in my chest started to even out. When I finally turned off the tap, the bathroom felt smaller and quieter leaving only the faint sound of water dripping on the tiles and the steady echo of my breathing that filled the space. I grabbed a towel and rubbed myself down. Then I dressed up without much thought; black joggers, a plain white T-shirt. My hair was damp when I stepped back into the bedroom with the smell of steam still clinging faintly to me.Aria was no l

~CASSIAN~"Drrring… drrring”The tone vibrated against the bed stand pulling me out of my thoughts. My gaze flicked toward it instinctively. Aria didn’t stir but her breathing stayed even, the faintest flutter at her lashes, her face half-buried in the pillow and her hair spread over it in the way it always did; messy, wild, and somehow still gentle against the white. I crossed the room in hurried steps to silence the phone before it disturbs the little peace she has found but when I picked it up the on screen name made me accept the call instead of rejecting it."Aria darling," Evangelina's voice rang out from the other end. "I thought I had stressed you out and you might still be in bed, who knew you would be up already."I walked towards the door with the phone in hand as I listened to Evangelina's casual talks to the supposed Aria. I didn't speak until she had said a few words and rested up a bit then I let out a deep breath."Good morning, Mrs Marlowe."Her breath caught for a bi

~CASSIAN~I stayed there till morning.Somewhere between watching her chest rise and fall and listening to the silence stretch on, my body gave in. I didn’t even remember when sleep claimed me, only that when my eyes cracked open again, the room was washed in pale light. My hand was still locked around hers. Her fingers were warm and fragile in mine, and that was what kept me from moving for a long while.A knock sounded at the door, soft but firm. I straightened my neck which was stiff from the way I’d slumped. “Come in.”The doctors entered with their quiet bags and low voices. They didn’t waste words. One adjusted her IV, another checked her breathing, another peeled back bandages to change them out. I watched it all, my jaw tight, until finally the head doctor stepped closer.“She’s holding steady,” he said gently, as though testing the words in the air before giving them to me. “No complications overnight. Her body is responding well, even better than we anticipated, considering

~CASSIAN~The car finally rolled to a stop, and only then did my lungs remember how to work. My grip on Aria had been iron the entire ride with every bump threatening to undo me. I didn’t move right away, not until I felt the world still beneath my boots. Her head lay warm but frighteningly limp against my shoulder. I adjusted her carefully, terrified of hurting her more than she already was. My men waited outside with doors open and their eyes flicking between me and the fragile figure in my arms. I didn’t let them touch her. I didn’t trust anyone else.I carried her through the estate ignoring the hushed voices and the pity in the eyes of the staff. I took her straight to my room. Then I laid her down on my bed, stepping back just enough to let the doctors approach.“Check her,” I said. The words scraped sharply out of me.They marched forward to the bedside, their bags opening with the soft rustle of zippers and the faint clink of vials inside, every sound sharper in the silence of

Dear Readers,As the story deepens, I want to share a small but exciting change. From this point on, you’ll notice the narration will sometimes move from first person to third person. This isn’t a departure from the heart of the story, rather it’s a way to give you a richer view of the world and the people within it.By weaving in third-person moments, I can reveal hidden layers, explore each character’s emotions and motives, and show you scenes our main narrator might never witness. My goal is to make every twist more vivid, every secret more impactful, and every moment more immersive.Thank you for trusting me as I experiment and grow with this journey. I can’t wait for you to experience what’s coming next. With love and endless gratitude,I.C.Evelyn*******The silence in the studio pressed against Sienna’s chest like a fist. Her pulse hammered in her ears, drowning out the faint groans of the men that were sprawled across the floor. The copper tang of blood mingled with fabric dye
