Chapter 28: Promise

The air was thick with tension, the wind was harsh and angry as the tortured souls around them, Lilith could hear them every side at every angle calling her name over and over, but she focused on the little girl she was about to save.

"We're nearing her, I can feel it, just a few more minutes." Lilith thank the gods as she and Adrian walked along the muddy ground, she was now confused, the air had no scent of fresh rain, but she didn't think too much of it as he stopped.

"Why did we stop?"

"She's right here, at least that's what my brain and wolf is telling me." The sound of the leaves moving made them look up, he looked at Lilith, denial in his eyes. "You don't possibly think she's all the way up there do you?" She shrugs.

"It's worth a shot and it's not impossible, stay down there, I'll be right back." Much to his dismay, he watched as she climbed the tree skillfully as if she had done it many times.

Lilith held on to a branch pulling herself up
