CHAPTER 17 - The Mate Pull
COLE'S POV
After being too late to help my brothers keep Skyler safe, I was able to give Max the information needed to find and rescue her. I stay nearby to see who they send to go and get her. I smile to myself when I see Alexander exit out of the back of the packhouse, followed by the very best of his high ranked officers.
I follow them to the edge of the border. I may not have my Alpha status anymore, but when I open my pack link, I can still hear everything. I don't do it often and when I do so; I make sure to keep very quiet so that Elijah and Nathan don't know. As I still can't face them.
I run the border again, making sure I don't go too far so that I know the exact moment Alexander is successful and come back with Skyler riding his back. This seems strange, as I know she can shift and her wolf is beautiful. Did her father treat her that badly this time that she was too weak to shift and run herself?

SKYLER'S POV The twins, Samuel and Emma, are now 6 months old. We still haven't heard a single thing from Cole, so I'm not sure if he even knows about them yet. Elijah and Nathan have been the best. COLE'S POV I return to the packhouse 2 weeks after Skyler gave birth to the pup she was carrying. I climb into her window and have the shower I always have before I see her. I stay in the shadows as she enters the room. I watch as she enters the bathroom. She stays in there for a while and then comes out already wearing her night slip. She finishes drying her hair and sits at her vanity. She looks tired as she braids her hair. I catch a glimpse of my mark on her shoulder as she throws the finished braid over her shoulder.
