Scarlett
The days of waiting are finally over now that my wedding is a week away. I don't know if I'll be able to hold back my tears on that day but not even the number of cameras in my face will ever let me pull back my tears if they come. Nothing is greater than getting married to the love of your life, or should I say, the man you've spent all the days of your life with. Daniel Cross, my fiancè, is everything every woman in Windhoek would die to have as a husband, but he chose me, and I believed that was luck—until it ran out. I was at the designer fitting my wedding dress because I couldn't risk anything going wrong on my big day. I mean our big day with my fiancè. But he couldn't make it because of a business meeting, so I asked my bestie Zoe to accompany me instead. “You look just like the angel you are Scarlett," Zoe commented as I walked out of the fitting room. “Are you being for real?" I asked my tears about fall down my face but I held them back. “Yes, just look at how perfect this dress looks on you. Goodness, you must be a Goddess," Zoe smiled. I looked at my reflection in the mirror and could only imagine how amazing it was going to be on the actual big day. I softly rubbed my hand against my stomach that had a life growing inside it. I've not told anyone because I was going to surprise them after the wedding. My mind just couldn't stop guessing what Daniel's reaction would be like. The designer took a few measurements again before I went to remove the dress. I came out of the dressing room, gave the dress to the designer, and then picked up my purse and phone from the table. I made my way to the car with Zoe. I had burnt my finger so I wasn't able to drive myself. Luckily Zoe had a car and was free from work. We got into the car and Zoe started driving us back to the penthouse. I looked at the time on my phone and noticed that Daniel would be knocking off in a few hours so I needed to go prepare dinner. “Do you want us to stop for coffee?" Zoe asked, noticing how my face went pale. “Yes, I really need that," I smiled. “As if there was a time you didn't," she joked before the car stopped at our favorite cafe. We got out of the car and were about to head inside when my eyes landed on something. A black Jeep with Daniel's plate number. My fiancè is at work I told myself before assuming it was his PA driving the car. I stared at the car and then removed my phone to take a selfie. ‘I can't wait to be your wife’ I captioned it before sending it to Daniel. I watched the message get delivered but Daniel didn't react. He's status went from online to offline right that very moment “Excuse me, are you coming?" Zoe waved her hand in my face as I wasn't moving. “Yeah wait. Isn't that Daniel's car?” I asked when she looked in the direction I was pointing. "Yes, I think it's the one, but what would he be doing here?” Zoe asked. “Wait, let me call him,” I said, dialing his number but the call went to voicemail. "Is everything OK?” Zoe asked, noticing the worry on my face. "No Daniel isn't—” Before I could complete the sentence a message popped up on my screen from Daniel. ‘I’m in a meeting. Will get back to you later’ “What is he saying?" Zoe asked before I showed her the message. “Uhmm I think it's true his PA is driving. Daniel wouldn't lie to me,” I said before we went to get our coffees. We sat there talking about all the different things we wanted to be included in our reception. I could tell everything was going to be out of this world just by the description. Our coffee finished, so we headed back to the car. Zoe drove me back home and then went to meet her client who had been calling since we were at the designer. I walked into our penthouse and then closed the door before the maid came to welcome me. “Ms. Brown I hope the fitting went well," she said with a smile on her face. “Yes, it did. I will be preparing dinner tonight. Did you get the spices I placed on the grocery list?" I asked Mrs. Kael— Our maid. "Yes I did but Mr. Cross called to let me know that he won't be coming home for dinner so I—” “Daniel did what?" I looked at Mrs. Kael with shock. "He said he wouldn't be here for dinner,” she repeated. "When did he call you?” "Just a few minutes before you walked in,” she replied and I was still surprised he didn't communicate that to me. I was planning on preparing his favorite dish for him, and he just decided to tell the maid that he wasn't going to make it. I looked at the time and it read ‘17:00’ This was Daniel's knocking off time. Mrs. Kael got her things ready, and I took a seat on the sofa, trying to call Daniel, but all my calls were being rejected. A part of me was already worried. It wasn't like Daniel to reject my calls or even let them ring more than twice. Could something be going on at the office? I stood up from the couch and made my way upstairs. I was certain Daniel would be home by the time I finished taking my shower but the room was just the way I left it. I applied my lotion and then dressed up before heading downstairs to take my food but I just don't know why everything I've been overlooking came into my head. I placed the plate back into the fridge and then went to take a seat on the sofa, waiting for a knock to sound on the door, but nothing came until the next morning. I heard a knock on the door and quickly rushed to get it when Mrs. Kael walked in and then greeted me. I looked at the time, and it was about 7. I don't even know how I managed to spend the night on the sofa. I made my way upstairs and then got into bed since I was still feeling exhausted. I tried to close my eyes but the thought of Daniel not spending the night at home was just worrying. It wasn't like him not to update me on all the things that had been going on at the company. I was about to dial his number again when the door opened, and Daniel walked in looking tired. The smell of alcohol engulfed him like it was in some wine bottle. “Babe," I jumped out of the bed about to hold his arm when he said, “ Don't touch me bitch!"CHAPTER 55Scarlett George and I stood on the balcony of Hotel Strand, admiring the view of the beach. While everyone was inside having fun.“This champagne tastes good Scarlett, are you sure you don't want to have some?" he asked, smiling at me.“No, I'm fine," I responded.“You've changed so much and I hope you liked the President's gift," he said when I suddenly looked at him.“How did you know? Wait are you the one that—" “No, I didn't do anything. I just told him who's behind the suits that make me glow and he made a move without my knowledge. I'm so happy for you," he said and I couldn't believe how much he was willing to sacrifice.“George. You…you're so unbelievable. You don't know how much this means to me,” I held his hand."Don't worry, Scarlett, more is coming. You're not going to believe how much more is waiting for you,” George smiled. We made our way to the hall and found that everyone was just busy having the best time. Mr. Black kept calling me to introduce me to so
CHAPTER 54Scarlett I got into my car and drove to BLACK STUDIOS. There were a couple of materials I needed to take home, so I didn't even mind going since I was sure everyone would have knocked off already.I drove for a few minutes and was at the building already. I got out of my car and then made my way inside the building. Just as I was about to close the door I heard Nia calling my name.“Scarlett, did I see you coming out of that Benz?" she whispered when she got closer.“Oh, that's right. I just got myself that baby," I smiled while she pulled out her eyeballs as though I just said something bad.“Are…are you being for real?” she asked."Yup or will you only believe it if I show you my keys?” I asked, swinging them in her face."Oh my Scarlett I just can't tell you how happy I am, congratulations. You honestly deserve all this,” she rushed into my arms.“Thank you. I've got to get a few things in the workroom. You can go look for a cab at the rank if you don't mind," I joked b
CHAPTER 53Scarlett I took a deep breath the moment Damien walked out of my office and then stood up to smell the roses the president's PA brought me. I couldn't even remember the last time someone gave me those. I could tell they cost enough to get someone like Daniel to kiss my shoes or even Damien since he was a disgusting Boss.“Oh my goodness, Scarlett, you'll not believe where your party is going to be held," Nia walked in, about to close my door when I asked her not to.“I doubt I'd make it. Please leave that open. I need to get somewhere. Please take care of everything in the workroom." I stood up, about to walk out, when Mr. Black came in.“Ms. Brown, may I have a word with you?" he asked, and I nodded before looking at Nia, who was probably annoyed, before making my way to the workroom.“Is everything OK Sir?" I asked him.“Yes, but I don't know if we're willing to let you go at such short notice. I've received the news that the president would like you to handle his outfi
CHAPTER 52Scarlett “We were going to tell you, but this just needed a big celebration; therefore, I've decided to take everyone to celebrate this wonderful achievement after work," Mr. Black announced, and everyone clapped their hands with excitement.I was so emotional at that moment. For a moment it felt like I was dreaming. I just won the president's heart with my King Men's suit piece, which I sent with his PA after it was requested that we needed to send outfits he could wear to Italy.I swear, I wasn't sure what to send, as this was a president we're talking about here. The King piece suits were all I had, so I just added a few things to them and handed them over. I was certain the president had many fashion designers at his beck and call. So if he didn't like my suits. Another designer would definitely get him something that matched his likes. After he chose my suits and was pleased with my skills, he sent me a brand new Benz and a sum of money I would have to work three tim
CHAPTER 51Scarlett It's been about three days since I sent my resignation letter, and neither Mr. Black nor Mr. Pierce has responded. I'm just not used to working under ungrateful persons. I moved this side for peace not a second wave of torture. I heard my doorbell ring, so I made my way downstairs in my nightgown. I was sure it was the delivery guy after what happened at the office. I don't think Nia would come to my place.I reached the door and slightly opened it to greet the person on the other side when my smile faded the moment I noticed that it was Damien Pierce. Not again I said at the back of my head about closing the door in his face when he pushed it back and then entered. Goodness, I was in a night gown.“I'll scream, sir, what are you doing?" I asked, taking a few steps back, though he was coming towards me.“Agh, Ms. Brown, you need to calm down. I'm not that type of man. I just came to let you know that I…I mean, we have rejected your resignation and would like yo
CHAPTER 50Daniel I couldn't take it anymore. The emptiness in the penthouse was going to consume me if I didn't find Scarlett so I made my way to Zoe's place even though she threatened to call the cops if I went there again.I knocked at her door but there was no response. I made up my mind to stand there till she came to answer.“I've got to be dreaming. Daniel Cross, what the hell are you doing here?” She shook her head."Zoe…I just want to know where Scarlett is please don't do this to me. I want to talk to her and make things right," I responded but she just laughed.“What things are those Daniel? It's almost months since you guys broke up and Scarlett is doing great without you. I wouldn't dare tell you where she is, even if it meant saving your life. OK, now get going because I've plans for the evening," she said about shutting the door in my face, but my arm blocked her.“Zoe, please, if it's about money, just say the price. I'll have it sent right now. I just need Scarlett,"
