Micheal's POV

I held Ashley’s hands in mine, “Let's get out of here.” She nodded with a smile on her face. The cold night air hit her skin as I pulled her away from the crowd, my hand firm around hers. The sound of the gala faded behind us as we walked through the grand door.

The valvet was already waiting with the car, a sleek black sedan that seemed to mirror the dark. I opened the door for her, my eyes looking towards her for a moment. She slid into the passenger seat, and I climbed in beside her. Ever since I saw her in that black dress, I couldn't take my eyes off her. I could hardly focus at the event.

“Ashley” I murmured, leaning forward to rest my head on hers, I traced her lips with my fingers, and at that moment, she found it difficult to breathe.

“Uncle Miche…”

I shut her up with a kiss. At first my lips moved in a slow passion, afraid that she would change her mind or stop me but as she started kissing me back, reassuring that none would happen, my pace grew more hungry

MICHEAL'S POV I hadn't planned on dropping by her office after work, but something about the way her eyes lit up when I surprised her made the long day worth it. She was busy working, her hair a little messy from her fingers running through it several times, her sleeves rolled up, and still…She's the most beautiful thing I'd ever seen.“I want you with me tonight,” I said, handing her the sleek black envelope. “It's a charity event. Very public event filled with business elites, presses, and maybe a few celebrities.”Ashley's smile faltered as she opened the invite. “Micheal…my father would be there.”I stepped closer, lowering my voice a bit. “Baby, we are not doing anything wrong. They all know you're my friend's daughter and how much I cherished you.”She looked up at me like she wanted to believe that.“I'll be careful,” I added. “I just want you beside me. Nothing more.”But I could see it all over her face—the nerves, the doubt, the weight of being caught too soon in a public p

ASHLEY'S POV The elevator ride to the penthouse felt longer than usual. My fingers were still trembling from the call. Micheal didn't yell—but his voice was cold, sharp, and demanding. The way he said it gave no room for explanation. As the door slid open, I braced myself. The second I stepped into his penthouse, I saw him pacing by the windows, his hands clenched at his sides, his suit jacket tossed on the couch. His tie was loose around his neck, like even that had become too suffocating. His eyes locked onto me the moment I walked in.“Micheal,” I started carefully, dropping my purse on the nearby table. “What's going on? Why are you so upset?”“You tell me,” he said, his voice low but tight. “Do you make a habit of letting men kiss you when you're out?” My mouth fell open. “Are you serious right now? How could you say that to me?”He moved closer. “Don't play dumb, Ashley. He kissed you. On the cheek, yes…but he had no business to stand that close.”I blinked at him. “Were you

ASHLEY'S POV Sophie wasn't joking when she said we were going all out today. The moment we arrived, she clapped her hands and practically matched us into the salon like a drill sergeant with a credit card. Then she said, “Hair and nail first, then we hit the spa for some massage, shop for some clothes at the boutique and a restaurant for some good food.”She meant all that, too.An hour later, I leaned back in a velvet chair with my eyes half closed while a stylist ran her fingers through my hair, applying serums and sectioning my curls. The scent of argan oil, heated tools, and lavender-scented conditioner filled the air. Sophie was beside me, already getting her hair blow dried by another stylist, and Jade was on the far end, her hair wrapped in foil as she got caramel highlights.I couldn't help but smile. It felt good to be pampered again. To sit with my girls and let go of everything for a while. No business calls, no stress, no second guessing. Just us.After our hair, we got

  • TWISTED AFFAIR   CHAPTER 111

ASHLEY'S POV I didn't expect the tears to come so fast. One second, I was laughing at something stupid Sophie said…and the next, the weight of losing my mum hit me like a truck. The anniversary of my mom's death always did this to me. I could go days feeling okay, functioning like a normal person…until a single moment cracked everything open.I tried to hide it, blinking fast and wiping the corner of my eye like it was nothing. But Jade noticed. She's always the first to notice.“Hey,” she whispered, wrapping an arm around me gently. “Are you okay?”Sophie quieted down instantly. “Ash…”“I'm fine,” I said quickly, voice too small to be convincing. “I just thought of her again.”They didn't say much. They both reached for me, and suddenly, we were in a tangled group hug on the living room couch.“I'm sorry we're not there for you the way we should be,” Jade said softly, her voice tight.“You are here now.” I looked up at them and smiled through my tears. “That's what matters.”Sophie

MICHEAL'S POV “Baby, please…just open the door and talk to me.”My knuckles were sore from knocking, but that wasn't what hurt. It was hearing her crying from the other side and not being able to do a damn thing about it.She hasn't said a word to me since we got back from the cemetery. Not one. She walked in, went straight to the bathroom and locked the door. I'd tried everything—knocking, waiting outside, leaving food at the door, sitting there just in case she changes her mind. But nothing worked.I leaned forward against the door, breathing in slowly, trying so hard not to lose it. I hated this. Watching her in pain and knowing damn well I couldn’t do anything to fix it. It gutted me.She hadn't eaten, she hadn't slept. She was just…crying.I sat on the floor with my back against the wall, staring at the ceiling like the answers might suddenly appear there. Then it hit me…Her friends—Sophie and Jade. She mentioned them a few times, I remember her talking about them the night we

  • TWISTED AFFAIR   CHAPTER 109

ASHLEY’S POV The silence at the cemetery was deafening, the kind that settled deep in your bones and refused to leave. I stood beside my dad, clutching a bouquet of white lilies in my hands, the breeze tugging slightly at my dress. Today marks another year since we lost her—my mother. And somehow, the ache hadn't dulled one bit.“She would've loved these,” I whispered, kneeling down to place the flowers gently at the base of her grave. The headstone was clean, polished, and simple…just like her. My fingers traced the letters engraved on the marble like I always did, as if memorising them would somehow bring her closer. My dad stood silently beside me, his hand stuffed into his pocket, his eyes red but focused straight ahead.“I miss you so much,” I said softly, my voice shaking. “So, so much. Some days, I still catch myself wanting to call you, to hear your voice…to hear your advice.” My voice cracked, and my hand started to tremble.“You'd know what to do right now…I feel so lost so
