Secret

A year passed and a lot had happened with Danielle. Nick proposed to Danielle but She wasn't comfortable anymore with Nick's continuous attitude. He was nice to her and little Elena who was already 2years now no doubt but they were things he did that seemed off and raises questions in Danielle's heart if he truly loved them. He gets upset with and sometimes gets physical with Danielle when he sees her with other guys. It got so bad that Danielle got bruises and she would always hide them with little makeup. She thought of leaving, but then he'll apologize and promise to change, and sometimes hurt himself when realized he's done something bad.

On one occasion, Nick took Danielle and Elena to the park on an evening. Nick left to get snacks for them. while Nick was away someone walked up to Danielle and introduce himself as Adams, he was her high schoolmate. it took a while for Danielle to recognize him, but after a brief moment she could recall their brief time together and how he helped her during the football event. they both laughed heartily and talked about what happened, he was so big now. They talked about their lives presently. Adams was doing quite well for himself, he was a backup singer for a popular pop artist. He also talked about releasing his own single soon. Danielle wasn't so happy telling him about her life but left a sense of relief after sharing it with someone different for a change.

on the other end, Nick had paid for the snacks and was on his way back when he saw Danielle standing with another man. he walked ragingly towards them. He threw down the snacks bag and went straight for Adams, grabbing him by the collar "what are you doing with her? Do you realize she's mine?" He yelled.

Danielle saw the look in his eyes, one she had come to now know so well, she knew things would end badly and tried to separate Nick from Adams. "Let him go Nick" she kept screaming. She wasn't sure who to help, little Elena was also crying too. She carried her and kept telling Nick to leave him and trying to explain to Nick who Adams was.

Nick left Adams, turned to Danielle slapped her, it was so hard that her knees buckled on the impact of his palm on her face. Adams lost his nerve and landed his fist on Nick's Jaw and then a fight ensued. Adam was masculine and well built although not as tall as Nick but was a good match for him. People gather to watch as the drama unfolded getting their phones to make a video. after a few minutes of evenly matched punches and kicks, The security at the park came and separated them and asked them to leave, leaving the audience to decide who the winner of the pay-per-view event was.

Danielle made her way with little Elena to the car while Nick got in last. There was noticeable silence between them except for Elena who was still crying. They got to Nick's place, Danielle got down from the car went straight to the house to pack her luggage. Danielle had kept a few things of Elena and her over at Nick's place to ease the stress of a move to and from between his house and she's whenever they spent the night over at his place. it was time to go home for good. She was fed up and she couldn't deal with this pretense anymore. Nick walked into the house and found Danielle with Elena and their luggage by their side. He ran to her and begged " I'm sorry, please don't leave me here alone. I love you so much. Please don't leave." He said to her. Danielle was tired of his apologies, he wasn't going to change. He was just an annoying insecure man, he kept making her cry and it was affecting her and Elena. Danielle stormed out with Elena leaving Nick's floor, crying like a baby. she walked a block away from Nick's house when she realized she had forgotten her phone at Nick's place. She got back with little Elena and found Nick punching the bathroom glass, it was broken but he still kept punching it. The shattered glass cut deep into his knuckles. Danielle ran to him and dragged him by his waist taking him away from the spot. "What is wrong with you?" Huh," but she got no reply from him. Instead, he fell on her chest and kept crying. Danielle took him to the sofa and laid him on his back and went to the room to get the first aid box. She cleaned up his mess and went to the kitchen to make dinner. He had already fallen asleep when she before she was done. Danielle's mind kept replaying all that happened today, she was confused and didn't know what to do, should she leave him or still stay? If she stays she will still get hurt and it's not nice for Elena to watch all these. And if she leaves him he might hurt himself again. Danielle wanted to know what was wrong with Nick, was he suffering from something she didn't know, should she go see his mom, Beth and tell her what's been happening. 

Danielle was stressed out with everything, she decided to stay till he wakes up and makes sure he won't do anything stupid.

Danielle sat down thinking about all that had happened and the mess Nick had made earlier, Elena was upstairs in her room sleeping too. Nick heard sounds of broken glass as he woke up to see Danielle cleaning up the mess he made. He felt bad. "Oh you're awake, I've been waiting for you. 

I've made your food, it's on the kitchen counter. I have to leave now" Danielle turned and said to him. Nick knew she had made up her mind and he wasn't sure she's changing her mind even if she still loves him. "But fuck my problems! am I going to lose another nice girl just because of my problems and insecurities?" he thought. Danielle got up and dumped the broken glass in the bin outside.

Danielle and Elena got home safely, Nick dropped them off even though he was still sad about what happened he knew he was wrong, he had messed up again and this time Danielle might be leaving him for good. 

It was 9 pm and it was past Elena's bedtime. Danielle read her bedtime stories till she fell asleep, then went to her room and had a long call with Britney, all they talked about was the scene that happened at the park and how Nick got bruises from punching the wall glass. "You mean you still stayed the whole time, girl, Are you stupid !!! ?" Danielle felt bad after Britney said that to her. "Okay I'm sorry I said that but you can see it boldly written that guy is such a manic, he can kill you one day. Do you want that for yourself? I truly want the best for you that's why I can't bear to see you get hurt again, and I think you should talk to his mom about it, you can't keep hiding things like this. It's a good thing you're close to Mrs. Beth. You should have a heart-to-heart talk with her, maybe you can ask her what's wrong with him because I'm pretty sure that guy is suffering from some kind of mania depression." Britney said. "Hmmmmmmmm" Danielle exhaled deeply. Okay, I'll go see her tomorrow then. Britney thought about Elena"I hope Elena is fine, you know she isn't supposed to see this. "Yeah I know" Danielle replied. Before I hang up I would love us to go shopping next week. Britney said. Danielle could hear the excitement in her voice. She gave in a bright smile and told her she was so ready for this moment. "Okay so we'll talk later I've got some office work to do," Britney said and hung up.
