Truth

Britney knew she had to tell Danielle the truth even if it is going to hurt her. She can't keep hiding this from her. Britney got up to look for Ava who was cleaning up the sitting room where they had welcomed Danielle and the baby. "Can we just tell her already?" Britney said to Ava. "Tell me what?" Danielle asked as she walked in on their conversation. They both looked at her shocked. Danielle wasn't comfortable with the look on their faces. She knew there was something wrong.

"Where's Grandma? someone needs to talk now or I'll lose it" she yelled

"You need to calm down, you know you just had a baby" Ava replied. But Danielle didn't care at all, she needed to see her granny. How can she be comfortable not seeing her granny? This is someone she loved so much.

Ava and Britney explained everything to Danielle. Danielle fell to her feet She was weak, she felt numbness from her head to toe, she couldn't even find her voice. She kept staring at nothing. Britney was scared that she might lose it. She got close to her, made her sit up while wiping the tears from her eyes, "I'm sorry" she said crying too.

"Why?, What have I done?" Danielle screamed. I lost my parents to a car crash, I lost my only brother to a robbery attack, and now what did you say happened to Granny? Haa" She queried. She was bitter. Ava and Britney tried to console her. But she kept wailing in pains. "Get up dear, let's get you to your room. You need to rest."

it was dusk Danielle was awake, her head ached sensations register, and memories of the news she heard a few hours ago returned. As the thoughts return, hot tears rolled down her cheeks Danielle knew she had to accept the life she had now. She heard the cry of her baby, she got up to get her baby. But Britney walked in carrying Elena. "Oh, you're awake! Elena has been crying, I think she needs to eat" she said to Danielle. Danielle took the baby from her to feed her. "How are you feeling now?" Britney asked. "Just a slight headache" Danielle answered but it was more than that. Britney got her drugs. "Here have this, it'll help with the headache". Ava had already gone home and Britney decided to stay with Danielle and help her during this time.

Britney had a call from the hospital concerning Grandma's autopsy, it was ready and grandma was to be taken to the cemetery. Danielle already heard the conversation Britney had on the phone with the caller from the hospital. "I don't want you to worry too much. I'll be here for you, ok?." Danielle only nodded. "Are you hungry? I made soup" Britney said to her while she got the baby from her and beckoned her to get up to eat.

it's been a year since grandma died, Danielle survived with her baby Elena through the little business she did. Grandma has been buried and the autopsy result showed she died as a result of a stroke. Britney had always come to help when she was free she was now the secretary of De Monte Unlimited. Which was one of the biggest companies in Atlanta, Georgia.

Elena was already a year old, she was beautiful, smart, funny with little gestures. Everyone who met her admired her. Marcus got Elena beautiful toys and made sure she had the best life as a child. Marcus always took her to the kid's playground at the park, where she met her best friend Liam who was just a month older than her. Elena called Marcus "Dada" but Danielle tried to make her say another word, she didn't want her to grow up with the feeling that he was her father but Marcus was cool with it even if it was embarrassing especially when he takes her out. Danielle found favor through her daughter. She got more contracts with her business. Danielle needed more money to pay for bills, and then she was accepted to work as a receptionist in a book store. Danielle took her work seriously and made sure everything was in place at the store. People would always recommend her to her boss. They would always say she's got a beautiful smile and she knew how to attend to customers.

It was a Sunday evening, while Danielle was working, a customer walked in with her husband. Robyn and Beth who were in their late 60s came by to get a copy of Joyce Meyer's book for their book club they had every Friday. Beth was closer to Danielle, she loved her already with her little Elena. She would always get cookies for Elena anytime she comes. She would also ask Danielle about her love life. But Danielle will wave it off stylishly. Mrs. Beth knew she wasn't seeing anyone. She decided to introduce her son to her. Beth and her husband walked in with their son Nick. A tall, elegant good looking man with a great physique. Danielle couldn't stop staring but when she realized he was looking at her too, she looked away from what she was doing. They all made their way to the counter where Danielle was standing. "Hi, Mr. and Mrs. Wooldridge" Danielle greeted them with a broad smile. "Hi Danny" Beth replied as she fondly calls her. "This is my last son Nick, Nick meets Danielle," Beth said as she introduces them. They both shyly waved at each other. "How's Elena?" Mrs. Beth asked. She's fine, I left her with Britney and Marcus. "I thought I could invite you to our book club next Friday," Beth said to Danielle. "Ermm I have to check my schedule, she said while looking at Nick, thank God He was not looking too, she thought to herself. "No problem, just get back to me" Beth replied as she tells her the address for the book club. "Can we get Battle Field of The Mind by Joyce Meyer, two copies please" Mr. Robyn cut in. "Yeah sure," Danielle said as she went to the bookshelf to get them. Nick was staring at her and he liked her already. Danielle got back to the counter and sold out the book to her. It was 3$. But Mrs. Beth gave her 6$. Danielle was rejected because Beth would always give her tips for everything she purchased but Beth still insisted. "Thank you, ma'am," Danielle said to her. "I'll see you next Friday right?" Beth asked her. Danielle was still unsure of what to tell her but she smiled and nodded. "Okay then bye, and tell Elena I came by." Danielle hugged her before she left and she waved at Nick shyly.

It was already Friday and Danielle had a lot to do. From her little business to working in the store and being there for Elena. Elena had started Crèche, she was excited about going to school. Anytime Danielle goes to pick her from school she would always get complaints from Elena's teacher, Mrs. Vanessa about how Elena bullies kids in school and would always make other kids cry. Danielle would only laugh and correct Elena in the little way she could understand.

Danielle had picked Elena from school and headed straight to Britney's house so she would leave Elena with her while she attends the Bookclub Mrs. Beth had invited her to. Danielle got to the house, it took a while before Britney could let them in. "Sorry for keeping you waiting, I've been in the kitchen," Britney said to Danielle while getting little Elena from her. Elena was already excited to be in Britney's arms. They all walked into the sitting room. Britney's house was well furnished and was bigger. It was her new apartment since she got a new job at De Monte Unlimited. Danielle and Britney had a long conversation about what was going on in their lives. Britney was already in a serious relationship with her boss's best friend Lamar. Danielle was happy for her. Britney told her about all their outings together and every little ignorant gesture she made when he took her to places she hasn't been before. They both laughed. Danielle had also told Britney about her invitation to the book club and also the introduction she had with Beth's son.

It was already time for the book club as she checked her wristwatch for time. She got a call from Beth too. She had told her she's on her way as she hung up! Danielle told Britney it was time to head out. "I'll come to pick Elena as soon as I'm done with the book club," she said to her.
