Chapter 6: Flashback

It has been a week since James left for the Academy, and everyone at the mansion seems to be at peace a little after he has gone. Nobody to pressurize them intensely except for James's mom, Sonia.

Ever since James left, Sonia is always occupied with petty things, and drinking to stupor, as she has no one to talk to at home. Austin who was supposed to keep her company is always busy with work.

He will leave home as early as possible and returns very late. And as soon as he gets home, Sonia would make sure to bring up an argument that will later lead to a fight between them.

This has been going on after the birth of James, and it appears that Austin has gotten used to it.

It's exactly seven o'clock in the evening at Edinburgh City when Austin arrives home. As usual, when he got to the door, he felt reluctant to step in because of Sonia. He knew she would always bring up an unnecessary argument.

Luckily, as he got in, he didn't see Sonia around in the living room. "Thank goodness, she's not around!" Austin let out a sigh of relief.

He was heading to the room when he suddenly heard someone screamed at him from behind; "Stop right there Austin!"

"Oh, it's Sonia again!" Austin stroke his forehead very hard with his palm. Then he turns to look at her.

"Don't tell me you're avoiding me now, Austin?" Her eyes bored into him.

"I'm not, Sonia. As you can see, am heading to the room!" His eyebrows waggled while glaring at her.

"And where have you been since morning?" Sonia asked suspiciously, as she surveys him, from head to toe.

"Obviously, at the company Sonia! Please, don't even start with your unnecessary assumptions this evening. I need to rest!" Austin yelled at her.

"You were at the company, or was busy searching for that wretched woman? I know you can't get her off your mind!"

"Sonia please, don't ever mention her again!" Austin seems to start losing his cools.

"What if I do? What will you do?" Sonia dared him to see his reaction.

"Then you would have yourself to be blamed!" Austin continues to control himself.

"Are you threatening me because of that whore? Wow, that shows you are a fool for not wanting to accept the truth about her!" Sonia continues to get on his nerves.

"I repeat, don't mention her again or you won't like what I will do next!" Austin's voice began to harden, as he is filled with much wrath at that moment.

"There's nothing you can do to me Austin! Susan is a disgusted whore, who slept with all the men in-----"

Before Sonia could know what's happening, Austin has swiftly gotten to her side and angrily sized her up to the wall. Out of outrage, his both eyes have turned blue, and his claws forcefully stretched out of his fingers.

"Never mention that name to me, ever again!!" His voice deepened and echoed.

No staff dared show their face to that area when they heard his voice. They all knew that their boss is in his beast mode from the way he sounds. All those that were busy working, immediately ran to their various rooms when they heard him growling continuously.

"You are hurting me Austin!" Sonia started hitting him hard on his face, as her feet trembled, and she's breathing heavily.

"Don't you ever dare me with her name next time, okay?" His voice continues to echo all over the house.

"S-s-stop, it h-hurts!" Sonia's voice breaks, as she couldn't put up with his strength any longer.

"Let her go Austin!" A deep, husky voice said from the side...

"What's that sound?" Jaden turned to look at Williams after the loud bang, with frights all over his body.

"Don't know either! Wait here, I will go check what it is?"

Williams got up and traced where he heard the sound. Surprisingly, it leads to Susan's room. When Williams got there, he was stunned to see a lot of flower vases that Susan has broken.

"What happened Susan?" He sounds worried and moved closer to her.

"Don't come near! I want to be alone!" Susan shouted at him.

"You can't tell me not to come closer when you're bleeding!" Williams glanced at her hand, which was bleeding profusely.

"No! I can handle myself, go away from me!" Susan said.

"Stop being stubborn Susan, you need fast treatment! Let's go to the hospital now." Williams persuades her.

"I said, I'm okay! G-go!" Susan's eyes began to close slowly.

Before Williams could say anything again, Susan passed out. "Jaden!!!!!!!!!!!!" Williams screamed out at the top of his voice.

Jaden that was still in the room, waiting for his dad suddenly heard him call out his name from his mom's room. He ran over to him as quickly as possible.

When he got to the room and saw his mom lying lifelessly on the floor in a pool of blood, he started trembling in fear, and his eyes flooded with tears.

"What happened to mom, dad?" His tears got intense.

"She passed out after having a cut on her hand! Quickly go get my car key to take her to the hospital right away!" Williams controls his emotions, so Jaden won't panic further.

Jaden ran to the living room as if, his heart is about to pop out. He ransacked all the shelves in search of the car key before he finally finds it in between two books on the floor.

He instantly picked it up and ran back to the room. "Here, dad!" He gave Williams the key.

Williams bent on one of his knees and picked Susan from the ground, then they head straight to the hospital...

When Austin turned to check who has the boldness to confront him, he was surprised to see his dad, Herbert Maxwell.

"I said, let her go!" Herbert commands him and walks majestically to them.

Austin Sonia to the floor angrily, and walk gently back to his room. Herbert moved over to Sonia and helps her up.

"What happened here?" Herbert asked with a glare.

"Dad, Austin almost killed me because of that stupid woman!" Her eyes welled up with tears.

"What woman are you talking about?" Herbert was confused.

"Who else if not that thing called, Susan! Dad, I'm fed up with Austin's attitude, he has never for once shown me love ever since we got married. I'm tired of everything dad!"

Sonia's nose wrinkles as she broke down on the couch, and sobs bitterly when they arrived at the sitting room. Herbert never said anything immediately he heard her mentioned, Susan. He went into total silence.

"You are not saying a word, dad!" Sonia raised her head when she didn't hear a word from him.

"Don't worry Sonia, I will talk to Austin," Herbert assures her.

"Thanks dad..." She moved closer to him and placed her head on his chest as she continues to cry.

"But make sure you don't mention that name to him anymore! We all knew what happened back then, so it's normal for him to always get angry!" Herbert chastises her.

"Even you dad? You are siding with your son right?" Sonia drifted away from his side.

"Try to understand what I'm saying, Sonia. You know what you went through to get Austin, so be calm with him please." Herbert pleaded.

Sonia rolled her eyes at him as soon as she recalls what she did...

**Flashback**

Some years ago, a young guy and a lady were in a room, arguing. The room was lit in the lamp-light glow, electric rays spreading as petals upon the walls.

Austin was a young man now, still with a few of the needs of his boy-self, yet with a strong blossoming of confidence and fortitude. To learn such strength is a challenging path, yet he had walked it in a way that inspired great pride within, and great pride in his kin.

At this young age, he was the kind of young man others follow, not because he said so, yet because everyone felt safe around him in their pack. Austin was a natural leader.

"Get out Sonia!"

Austin who was around his mid-twenties yelled at a young lady, who was trying to force herself on him.

Sonia is a beautiful woman who has an awful soul. However, as she appears in her youth, it is the soul that will show in her every feature as she ages.

The sweet-hearted are all the beauty in this world, they are the sunshine, the rain, and the good earth but it is the opposite of what Sonia has. She's the real definition of evil!

"I love you Austin, please give me a chance to prove my love to you!" Young Sonia begged him.

"I love Susan, don't you get it? I can't date you!" Austin continues yelling.

Austin had the kind of face that stopped you in your tracks. I guess he must get used to the sudden pause in a person's natural expression when they looked his way, followed by overcompensating with a nonchalant gaze and a weak smile.

Of course, the blush that accompanied it was a dead give-away. It didn't help that he was so modest with it, it made the girls fall for him all the more.

Despite all the opportunities that came his way, he was a one-woman-man who prized genuineness and thoughtful conversation above beauty. He was handsome alright, but inside, he was adorable.

"Did you know what your beloved Susan is doing behind your back?" Sonia suddenly said.

"What are you talking about?" Austin's voice changes instantly.

Sonia smiled as she picked her bag up from the bed, and threw some pictures at him. "Here, check it out!"

"What!!" Austin exclaimed in disgust immediately he saw the pictures...
