Chapter 5: Jaden discovers the truth

As Susan walks in, all eyes in the party turned to look at her. They were all surprised by the unconcerned look on her face. She acted as if, it's just a normal day, and head straight to the room.

Jaden that was putting on a bright smile when he saw his mom, got disappointed when his mom, walks past everyone at the party, without a single greeting, or wishes him a happy birthday.

"Dad, what's going on with her?" Jaden gave his dad a questionable gaze.

"I don't know!" Williams furrowed his brows, as he is stunned too, by Susan's behavior.

After what just happened, everyone started whispering among themselves with a confused expression. They kept pointing fingers at Jaden while speaking in a low voice.

"Isn't that your Mom?" Jeffrey suddenly walked to Jaden and asked.

"Yes, she is! Any problem with that?" Jaden replied as he controls his anger.

"No problem at all! I'm just curious why she ignored you like that in everyone's presence, at your birthday!" Jeffrey sounds inquisitive.

Before Jaden could say anything, Williams turned to Jeffrey, and glared at him; "You can leave now, the party is over!!"

From Williams's expression and the way he just sounded, Jeffrey could tell that he needs to leave. He quickly moved over to his friends, to bid them farewell, and left.

"You didn't have to do that, dad! I could have handled him!" Jaden sounds angry.

"That is the best way to handle kids like him, son."

"And thanks to you, I would turn to a laughing stock at school tomorrow!" Jaden left Williams's presence with annoyance and walked to the middle of everyone.

Williams was a bit surprised by Jaden's action, but he understood why he is behaving that way. He knew Jaden has gotten to the height of his mom's bad attitude, and it has started affecting him.

"Hi everyone, can I have your attention please?" Jaden said, and everyone focuses on him, including Williams, who was amazed.

"Thanks to you all for honoring my invitation, and coming to my birthday party. I appreciate it! But, I'm sorry to inform you all that, the party has come to an end! You may leave now!"

After Jaden made the announcement, everyone seems displeased by what he just said, then they start to leave one after the other with an unpleasant look.

"He's so rude!"

"How could he talk to everyone like that!"

"I heard his mom hated him, probably that's the cause of his anger and rudeness!"

"Oh, what a poor boy! I feel sorry for him. But, he has a loving father, who always catered for his needs..."

"I believe his mom adopted him because no mother would hate their child!"

"Or, was the child born by a mistress?"

"Yeah, you're right. He must be a son of a mistress, that's why she hated him!"

Williams is still standing at the entrance when he heard people gossiping about Jaden, as they walk out of the house. He was aggrieved by those hateful comments about his family, but couldn't do anything about it.

Immediately everyone left, Williams hesitated for a while before going to meet Jaden, who sat on the couch, with a sad face.

"Son,"

"I want to be alone dad!"

Jaden got up abruptly and ran to his room, and Williams instantly followed him.

"Hey, open the door Jaden!" Williams knocked hard at the door.

"Go away dad, I want to be alone!" Jaden cried out with a grin from inside.

"Listen to me son, we need to talk!" Williams said, persuasively.

"There's nothing to talk about! Just go away!"

Williams was still at the door of Jaden's room when Susan came to meet him. "What's going on here?" She suddenly asks.

"After pulling that stunt at the party, how dare you ask me what's going on?" Williams yelled at her.

"What stunt are you talking about?" Susan asked with a raised brow.

"When will you ever think about our son well being? He's getting affected by your horrible attitude!!"

"I don't know what you're talking about Williams! I came home tired, as usual, and I head straight to the room to relax. What was wrong with that?" Susan pretends not to know what her husband is saying.

"And you aren't aware that, today is Jaden's birthday right?" Williams asked, angrily.

"So?"

"Really, Susan? That all you got to say?" Williams sounds surprised with her last response.

"What else? Common Williams, I'm not in the mood to argue right now! I need to talk to Jaden." Her expression hardened.

"Talk to him for what! Do you want to add to his problem again? Just let the boy be, please!!" Williams gave her a shabby look.

"Williams please, I'm not in for your argument this evening! I just need to talk to him, that's all!" Susan scowled.

Williams couldn't say anything at first, because he was disgusted by her attitude. Later on, as he was about to reply to her, Jaden abruptly open the door;

"You two can leave now, I need some time to myself please!!" Jaden told them with a dull expression.

"How are you feeling, son? Hope you are well? Are you sure you are not feeling sick?" Williams panicked, as he saw Jaden's pale face.

"I'm okay, dad! I just need to rest." Jaden replied in a low tone.

"We need to talk!" Susan, who seems irritated with Jaden's actions, said commandingly.

"See you later, dad..." Jaden snubbed what his mom just said, and turned to leave.

"Alright, son!" Williams quickly replies to him.

'Jaden has changed! What's happening?' A thought crossed Williams's mind.

Susan too could feel his coldness, but she doesn't care. All that she's after is, to tell him why she's there... Jaden was about to close his door when his Mom unexpectedly says; "You are going to Edinburgh City tomorrow!"

"What!!" Awe transformed Jaden's face instantly.

At the mention of Edinburgh City, Williams already knew where Susan is driving to, and he kept quiet to study Jaden's reaction.

"What did you just say, Mom?" Jaden asks.

"You heard me. You are leaving for Edinburgh, very early tomorrow!" Susan answered.

Jaden has a confused expression on, as he turned to look at his dad for intervention. But to his surprise, Williams appears to have known about it also.

"Wow, so you knew too?" He asked Williams.

Williams only nodded his head in acknowledgment to Jaden's question, as he could not look into his eyes, because of guilt.

"Why do I need to go to that city? Are we relocating?" Jaden turned back to his mom, and probe further.

"I don't have time to explain things to you, just pack your stuff and get prepare for tomorrow!" Susan snapped at him.

"Please Susan!! Take it easy with the boy! He has all the right to know why he would be going there." Williams screwed up his face at her.

"Williams, He is just fifteen for crying out loud! He has no right to question our decisions for him!" Susan couldn't tolerate her son's attitude anymore.

"But, he needs to know what that Academy is all about!" Williams flares up.

"What Academy are you talking about?" Jaden cuts in as he got more confused.

"I will explain to him!" Williams said to Susan.

"Better! I need to get out of here..." Susan walks out of their presence with anger...

"Let's go inside son, and I will explain everything you need to know."

Williams leads the way to his room, and Jaden follows him. When they got in, Williams was quiet for some minutes before he finally speaks.

"There's something you need to know about your real identity son." Williams felt heartbroken as he is about to tell Jaden the truth.

"My real identity?" Jaden was surprised.

"It's about your mom also! She was once a Vampire, before she---"

"Vampire?" Terror overtook Jaden's face, as he opens his mouth in shock.

"Calm down, and listen to me first," Williams said. Still, Jaden kept on processing what he just heard as he blanks out in his thoughts.

'My mom is a Vampire? How? Where did she get the powers from? So, I'm a son of a vampire?' A lot of questions kept popping on, in his head.

"Jaden! Jaden!!"

Williams called out his name when he saw that, he wasn't listening to him anymore.

"Yes, dad!" Jaden suddenly lookup with fright on his face.

"Concentrate on what I'm telling you, please. As I was saying, your mom lost her powers after she gave birth to you, and turned into a mortal being, like me. And--"

"Oh, everything seems to be making sense to me now. That's where the hatred for me came from right?" Jaden asked as sadness clouded his features.

"It's complicated, you can't understand."

"I understand dad, continue what you are saying!" Jaden controls his tears.

"There's a high possibility that you possess a vampire power. So that's why you need to go to the Academy in Edinburgh." Williams explained calmly.

"What's the Academy all about?" Jaden asks.

"The Academy you would be going to has both powerful Werewolves, and Vampire, so you need to be prepared for any worse."

"Werewolves too! Do I need to go, dad? I know I don't have any power, just like you. So, there's no need to attend the Academy!" Jaden sounds confident.

Immediately Jaden made mention of "just like you," Williams's heart struck with fear. He wishes a day like this wouldn't have come! How could he bring himself to tell him that, he is not his true father? It will only worsen the issue more.

'How do I tell him am not his real father?'

Williams thought as he forced a smile out at Jaden. After a second thought, he decided to tell him the truth!

"There's s-something y-you need to know again Jaden!" Williams stuttered while staring into his eyes.

"What is it, dad?" Jaden face lit up as he heard him.

"Hmmm, Jaden," Williams sighed deeply.

"Yes dad," Jaden became anxious with his dad's reaction. He could also tell that, what his dad is about to say, seems very important...

"I'm n-not y-your r------"
