Chapter 25

Nixon’s POV

“Doctor! We need you inside, quick!”

Once again, the beating of my heart escalated to the point that it almost got out of my chest. The cold, spiderlike fingers raced up and down my spine. My head was flooded with a thousand questions.

“What’s wrong? Is Aria okay?” Alpha Axel stood out from the chair outside the tent. We both decided to stay with Aria until she makes it through the night. Hopefully.

“The patient stopped breathing!” the nurse exclaimed. The doctor dashed inside the tent. Blood was drained from our alpha’s face as he remained rooted in his spot.

I followed the doctor inside. When I drew the curtain to the side, I saw Aria lying motionless on top of her bed while one of the nurses was trying to perform CPR on her.

My heart continued to hammer in my chest. My throat made some quiet sounds of helplessness. I watched in horror as the pack’s medical team continued to revive her. Seeing her like this made my knees weak.

“Don’t leave me, Aria,” I whispered he
