Chapter 23

VANCE'S POV

STEVEN held my hand when he saw my fear and concern as I watched the rushing water.

The tide never subsided and it seemed to get even angrier as it quickly passed to us. I feel that in every flow of it, it threatens our lives that at any moment it can swallow us, drown us and throw us somewhere.

We were still sitting on a boulder in the middle of the river. We are not sure if the water flow reaches the surface of the rock. So we prepared ourselves in case another high and strong current comes to carry us away.

We agreed to stay on top of the rock rather than try to cross the forceful current of water. We think it is safer for us to stay there. We could do nothing but wait for help or wait for the flood to subside.

I clung tightly to Steven's hand. Earlier we had discussed what we would do in case we were swept away. We will try to get to the side of the river. My eyes fell on the thin rope tied to us that connected us so we wouldn&rsquo
