After spending an hour shopping with her mother, Rebecca returned to work. She spent several more hours seeing patients. She was speaking with a woman who was being discharged about her follow up appointment when a nurse came in the room. “Rebecca, someone is here to see you.” Rebecca nodded her head.“Okay I will be there as soon as I finish here,” she told the nurse before turning back to the women. “Miss Sanchez, I need you to get labs done before your appointment next week. Other than that, you are free to go. Just take it easy for the next couple of days,” she finished up before leaving the room. She walked to the nurse's station and looked around looking for who could possibly be there to see her. Her eyes finally landed on Vincent. Her eyes widened in shock. “What the hell is he doing here?” she whispered to herself. “Um... What are you doing here?” She asked him.“I was going to call you, but I was in the area and thought I would see if you had time to talk maybe?” He shoved h
Vincent was waiting for Rebecca when she got off work. She smiled at him as she walked toward him. “You look nice,” she said. “Don't I always?” he frowned and looked down at his suit and tie. Rebecca blushed. “Yes, you do. I just thought I would complement you on it,” she looked down at her feet. Vincent reached out and lifted her head with two fingers under her chin. “You look very nice too,” he nearly whispered. Rebecca felt herself blush again and mentally cursed herself. This blushing thing was out of control. “I’m in scrubs,” she motioned to her work attire. “Any chance we can swing by my place so I can change?” Vincent nodded and they walked out of the building. He opened her door for her making sure that she was in before shutting it and walking to his side to get in. It took twenty minutes to reach Rebecca’s building. Vincent shut the car off and looked at her. “You don’t mind if I come up with you, do you?” He wanted to make sure that her place was secure. He could have
Rebecca stopped screaming out loud but, in her mind she still was. She looked around the room wondering if she could get to the bathroom and lock the door before the man could catch her. Maybe it would be better to run out the door and across the hall to Joni’s apartment. She remembered that it was pretty late and Joni and Isaac were both most likely asleep. She eyed the man as she took deep breaths trying to think of an escape route.“Rebecca? Correct?” the man asked her calmly. She quickly whipped her head to look him directly in the eye. She nodded her head and looked him over wondering if maybe she knew him. His dual brown eyes look as unfamiliar as they looked honest. He was extremely tall; she was sure that she would remember someone as tall as him. “You don’t know me but, I know you. Or of you anyway,” he said as he unbuttoned his suit jacket and took a seat on Rebecca’s couch. She watched him but did not move or say anything. “My name is Dito. I’m here to deliver a massage fr
Rebecca stared at Vincent trying to really take in what he had just told her. After what seemed to Vincent like hours, he watched a smile spread across her face before she burst into laughter. Vincent raised a brow wondering what was so funny. He continued to watch her laugh loudly. She bent over and held her stomach as she laughed harder. Vincent leaned into the back of the couch and waited for her to sober up. When she did, she looked at him with a big smile still on her face. “That was a good one. You want to really explain now?” Vincent shook his head. This was going to be harder than she expected. “I’m serious,” he said in a tone that he hoped would convey just how serious he was. Rebecca looked at her and squinted her eyes. She leaned back and looked at him from head to toe. She took in the suit from their date that he was still wearing. His shoes were polished to perfection. Besides his hair, he was very put together. She thought about the night they met. The way he fought th
The next morning Joni woke up on Rebecca’s couch to pounding. She hadn't gotten drunk the night before so, she assumed it was someone at the door. “Becs!” she shouted not wanting to get up and answer the door. “It’s her apartment anyways. I’m no maid,” she mumbled to herself. The pounding was still happening at the door and Rebecca was not showing her face. Sighing Joni threw her legs over Rosalin who was laying on the other end of the couch and stomped to the door. Swinging it open she came face to face with Tobin. “Good morning, Joni,” she smiled at him and stepped to the side to let him walk in. As she started to shut the door, she noticed Vincent standing to the side talking with the man from the night before. She watched as they shook hands and the man walked to the elevator pushing the button. Turning back to look at Vincent she noticed him looking at her waiting for her to move so he could enter. “What’s going on?” Rebecca asked as she reached the bottom of the stairs. She lo
Vincent leaned against the hood of his car while he waited for Tobin to get out of his car and approach him. “You ready?” He asked him. Tobin nodded and motioned for Vincent to lead the way. Tobin followed Vincent through the front door of the boss's house. He thought about the fact that he would soon be calling Vincent that instead of his father. For as long as he could remember Francesco had been the boss. That was how he had grown up. His father, Leo, had worked for the family for his whole life. He hadn't grown up in the life but after he had graduated college, he met Francesco, who had just taken over, and offered him the job of a lifetime. He had just asked Tobin’s mother to marry him and needed a good job so, he accepted. All these years later, they are close and he had raised Tobin to take over for him when he retired. “Hey man, thanks for this,” Tobin decided that he should show his appreciation for allowing him to be a part of what was going on today. He didn’t have to and
“I’m coming!” Rebecca shouted as the third knock came at the door. Swinging it open, she saw Tobin standing there. Sighing she crossed her arms over her chest and popped her hip out, “What?”“Can I please come in?” He pleaded with her. Rebecca rolled her eyes in annoyance but, walked away leaving the door open. Taking that as his cue he walked through and closed the door behind him. He followed her to the couch and sat on the opposite end than her. He looked her over taking in her body language. She was pissed and while he understood that he knew that she was still open to being his friend because she had let him in. “Will you let me at least explain?” He asked her wanting to confirm that she would hear him out before he started in on what he had to say.“You have five minutes,” she unfolded his arms and started picking at her fingernails. Tobin smiled she did this when she felt vulnerable. That meant that she didn’t want to lose their friendship either.“Okay listen I know that this
Vincent held his hand out for Rebecca which she took since her anger had mostly worn off on the drive to his building. She sighed as she looked up remembering the last time she was here. “Are you coming, Rebecca?” she heard Vincent ask. Looking to the door of the building she saw him waiting for her and nodded. “Dom should be here with Ros already,” he said as he pushed the button on the elevator.Rebecca looked at him in shock, “Dom lives in the building too?” She asked him. Vincent nodded as he waited for her to join him in the elevator.“I told you my men lived here.”Rebecca nodded. She kind of remembered him saying that. Her anger had made most of what he said seem less important but, she had to admit that he had told her that. The rest of the ride up, was silent. Vincent was on his phone the whole time. When they reached his floor, he stepped off. “Follow me,” he said without looking back at her. Rolling her eyes, she did as she was told. She was too tired to argue with him anym
