Chapter 3

The first step of my plan was to pull Johnny down from his position as Alpha.

I filled out the application to dissolve our mate bond and tucked it at the back of the Pack's bills and reports before sending everything to Johnny.

Soon, I received a message via mind-link from Johnny. "I've signed off on all the bills. You did a good job planning our trip, Carla. You should've done this from the start."

Predictably, he was so oblivious and completely absorbed in the romance of his trip with Amy that he didn't notice a thing.

"In light of your performance, and for the stability and growth of the pack, I'll give you a cub. You'd better take this chance and raise an heir for me. Be grateful for how tolerant I am."

Tolerant?

I let out a cold chuckle. This man was as shameless as ever.

Johnny's so-called tolerance for Amy went far beyond this. Every time Amy caused trouble, he would act angrily, but nothing ever happened to her. In the end, I was always the one cleaning up her mess.

Even when I went home to handle family matters, Johnny would end up coming to me because Amy had messed up again.

Back then, I thought Johnny missed me and didn't want me to stay away, so he asked me to come home sooner. After that, I worked even harder to build up the pack, hoping Johnny would become an Alpha everyone admired.

I never realized my existence was only making it easier for Johnny and Amy's relationship to bloom. My job was to take care of things for them so that they could enjoy all the honor and glory that came from it.

Now that I had a second chance because of my rebirth, I would never make that mistake again.

After I had everything arranged, I leaned back into the Alpha's chair and scrolled through the news on my phone.

I was planning to brush up on some new hunting techniques, but every headline was about the dazzling fireworks over the coast. The fireworks were more beautiful than anything I had ever seen. They symbolized a lifetime together.

As I wondered who had set them off, a message from Amy popped up.

"Carla, aren't they beautiful? Johnny set off all those fireworks for me. If you know what those fireworks mean, you'd better step aside and give up your title as Luna."

I smiled. "You can keep Johnny, but the Luna title stays with me."

Right after I sent that, Johnny connected with me through our mind-link, his roar giving me a headache. "Carla! What are you doing?! Amy's been crying ever since she texted you! Do you still want to remain as Luna? If you can't do the work, I'll find someone else who can!"

Before I could even respond, Johnny cut off the connection.

I didn't care about Johnny's anger. I already had Johnny's signed application for the dissolution of our mate bond, anyway.

This pack needed a new Alpha, too.

I was preparing for an important alliance meeting that afternoon on the day Johnny and Amy came back.

The next second, Johnny flipped over my desk. He stood over me, looking down at me.

"Apologize to Amy! Do you have any idea how upset she was that day?!"

Ignoring Johnny's shouting, I crouched down and calmly picked up my meeting notes. When he saw me ignoring him, he snatched the documents from my hands and tore them to shreds.

"Carla, I told you to apologize! Didn't you hear me? If you don't, then you're not going to the alliance meeting!"

I shrugged, about to reply, but Amy suddenly interrupted and said, "Luna, please don't fight with the Alpha because of me. It's all my fault… I think the Luna just wants to push me to do better, that's why she said those things…"

Johnny patted Amy's head like she was the most precious thing in the world, then shot me a look full of disdain.

"Why can't you be more like Amy? If you're half as thoughtful as she is, you'd be pregnant with my pup by now!"

I flatly rejected him. "I don't want your pup. And by the way, you don't need to attend the alliance meeting, either."

Johnny stared at me, confused. "Carla, are you crazy? How can I not go to the alliance meeting? All the pack Alphas will be there!"

I nodded at Johnny. "That's right. All the Alphas will be there. But you're no longer the Alpha of our pack, so you don't need to attend."

Johnny burst out laughing, like I had just told a joke. "You'll say anything to get my attention! Guards! Lock Carla up and strip her of the Luna title!"

Amy's excitement was almost impossible to hide.

But no one came.

I clapped my hands. "See? No one's listening to you, Johnny."

Johnny started shouting like a madman. "What are you all doing? How can you betray your Alpha?!"

I felt even more satisfied as I watched Johnny completely lose control.

I walked over, took Johnny's hand, and then placed Amy's in his. "Alright. Take your sweetheart and go. From now on, don't come into my office without permission. Only the Alpha is allowed here."

Johnny yanked his hand back, staring at me in shock. "What are you talking about?!"

The next moment, there was a knock at the door.

"It's time for the meeting, my dear Luna."
