Sebastian stood in the doorway, his gaze immediately snapping to Rosie.

It took him barely a second to register the bruises scattered across her body.

Her face was badly bruised, and her hands were so swollen that they had lost their usual slender appearance. She looked as though she'd been through hell.

For a moment, Sebastian simply stared.

Then his expression darkened, and something inside him snapped.

"I'LL FUCKING KILL HIM!"

He spun around, ready to hunt down his big brother.

His gaze settled on her face, searching her eyes as though he wanted to understand what lay beneath her nervous declarations. He had no wish to make her feel obliged to do anything simply because she believed she owed him something. Whatever happened between them had to be something she wanted, freely and wholeheartedly. He wasn't interested in duty.He wanted her willingness, her trust, and the love they were slowly learning to share. When he was satisfied that her eagerness was genuine, a small smile tugged at his lips.“Come and sit on the bed, then.”Rosie obeyed, settling on the edge of the mattress whilst Sebastian went to close and lock the bedroom door. Once he returned, his attention shifted to her injured hand.“Can you use your left hand now?”Rosie raised it and carefully curled her fingers into a fist.“My hand's better. I can move it without any trouble.”“Good.” He examined her expression for another moment. “But tell me if anything hurts, all right? I don't want you ma

Regina Sterling.Sebastian’s brows furrowed as he stared at the name on Rosie’s phone. He had no idea what his useless mother wanted with Rosie, but whatever her reasons, he doubted the call would bring anything good.He waited until the ringing stopped before picking up the phone and unlocking it.To his surprise, Rosie hadn’t set a passcode.Could Charles have forbidden her from putting a password on her phone? Just so he could check it whenever he pleased?Sebastian’s jaw tightened.Bloody control freak. He opened the call log to see who had been trying to reach Rosie and immediately noticed at least ten missed calls from Regina that evening. He stared at the screen in disbelief before shaking his head.“That old hag must be planning to insult Rosie,” he muttered. “Probably wants to intimidate her for whatever ridiculous reason she's come up with.”His expression darkened as years of resentment resurfaced.“She’s had ten bloody years to protect Rosie from Charles’s abuse, but did

One kiss should have been enough. A quick peck, nothing more.Except Sebastian wasn’t satisfied. He kissed her again, then a third time, each lingering a little longer than the last. Before Rosie could tease him about it, he slipped an arm around her back and drew her closer, deepening the kiss until neither of them seemed inclined to pull away.A soft, muffled moan escaped Rosie as she closed her eyes, losing herself in the warmth of his lips. For a little while, there was nothing beyond the two of them and the quiet intimacy they shared. Then Rosie began to run out of breath.“Sebastian—mmh… t-too much…” She gave a small, breathless protest, trying to draw back enough to breathe. “Mmfh!”Sebastian finally lifted his head, allowing their lips to part. His gaze lingered on her flushed face as she struggled to catch her breath, her chest rising and falling beneath her pyjama top.A low chuckle escaped him as he brushed his lips together, looking altogether too pleased with himself.“Co

Beside him, Rosie let out a quiet sigh. She could tell he was upset. His expression had become so sour that she almost felt sorry for him.Almost.But she had no intention of taking back what she'd said, because she believed honesty was precisely what he needed from her.She wanted him to know the real Rosie, not the woman who agreed with everything a man said simply to keep the peace.“Sebastian, I…” She paused, searching for the right words. “I can't pretend I don't want a strong man to lean on. I've had no one but myself to rely on for most of my life, and Charles was a tremendous disappointment to me. After everything I've been through, I suppose I can't help wanting someone who makes me feel safe.”She lowered her gaze briefly before continuing.“But that doesn't mean I think you're weak for opening up to me.”Sebastian remained silent.“It's perfectly normal to feel anxious about things, you know. Everyone has worries. Everyone has moments when they don't know what to do next.”S

Rosie had been speaking with a seriousness that surprised even her. But as the weight of her own words began to sink in, a flush crept across her cheeks, and she hurriedly averted her gaze from Sebastian.“W-Well, that's just my opinion. I-I'm only a housewife, after all. I don't know anything about business, so I could be wrong.”“No, you're not wrong at all.” Sebastian's voice was warm with reassurance. “In fact, you've given me the most valuable insight I've had all day, Rosie.”“R-Really?”“Mm.” He nodded. “I'm glad Desiree suggested I talk to you. She said you knew Charles better than anyone else, and she was right.”Rosie let out a slightly embarrassed laugh.“Haha, well, that's what happens when you've lived with someone for ten years. You learn a thing or two about them, whether you want to or not.”Sebastian's smile faded a little.“I'm not going to let you go through that again.” His voice was firm, leaving no room for argument. “Ten years was more than enough. Honestly, it

  • Taming the Devil: After Divorce, Tangled Up in You   Chapter 265 : Perhaps Desiree had been right after all.

Sebastian crossed the living room and stopped in front of Rosie. For a moment, he simply looked down at her, seemingly gathering the courage to do what he had spent the entire evening talking himself out of.Then, without a word, he lowered himself onto his knees and rested his head in her lap.His arms slipped around her waist, holding her gently as though he had finally found somewhere he could put down the weight he had been carrying.Rosie froze. She stared at the top of his head, struggling to process what was happening. Sebastian Edward Sterling, the man who always seemed so confident and unshakeable, was kneeling in front of her, seeking comfort without offering a single explanation.“Sebastian?” she called tentatively. He lifted his head and looked up at her.His eyes held an almost comical mixture of vulnerability and expectation, rather like a puppy waiting patiently for its owner to give it a stroke.Rosie frowned in confusion. Then, as understanding dawned, her expression

Rosie reacted at once, catching hold of her daughter’s arm and gently but firmly pulling her aside.“I’m so sorry, Sebastian,” she said quickly. “P–Please don’t be upset with Izzie. She’s only a child, I—”“Tch. It’s fine,” he cut in, dismissive. “Just make me the same smoothie. And from now on, yo

Rosie sat at the dining table, the candlelight flickering softly against untouched plates. The roasted chicken—Isabella’s favourite—had long since gone cold. She glanced at the clock.Nine o’clock.Charles Sterling was not home.He had promised. He had promised their daughter he would return before
