Chapter 43

Soft strokes on my back woke me up from dreamland. When I opened my eyes, the first blurry scene that came to mind was the bulk of Lucas, who was silently standing near the edge of the bed. I thought it was only happening in my imagination, but when he sensually touched my hips now, I looked at him again and realized it was Lucas. I don't know if his reaction was mocking me or adoring me based on the fact that he stared at me for a moment.

"Wake up now, Adeline. I thought you were just going to the bathroom. But why did you reach our son's room and end up sleeping here? Have you been drunk on just a glass of wine?" he let out a soft chuckle that sounded like wondering.

I promptly turned to my other side, where Luke was sleeping soundly while cuddling me tightly. Lucas was right; I'm lying next to him! I am in our son's bedroom now, but how did I end up here?

"Ah, yes, it is. Why am I here?" I asked vaguely, which made Lucas laugh weakly.

"I am asking you first, why are you here?"
