Chapter 2: Breaking Rules

Before Jane and Gregory could wake up, Craig has already made arrangements for their breakfast, he has specifically ordered French fries, as he knows that is Jane's favorite

“Whoa! This is lovely.” As Jane sat to eat, she didn't care if anyone else was eating or not. “So, I am having a meeting this morning.”

“Sorry, I canceled it and it's in three days.”

“Craig!” He yelled, Jane's food came out of her mouth in shock.

“Sorry, let's go to the room, Craig what will I be doing here?”

“Let's look for the picture.” 

“Are you mocking me?”

“No, just maybe, it might be lying somewhere but first, let's go on an adventure, don't you want to see the city?” Gregory looks at him, that cousin of his who wants to always make him happy. 

“Are you game?” He nodded like a two-year-old, whose big brother had just promised some special thing, and all of a sudden he pouted, Craig understood.

“Don't worry, we are not going with the security, we don't need one.”

“Fine, I will just change very fast.”

“You should have before I changed my mind.” He pushed Craig's head as he walked away, in no time he was well groomed, he wore a T-shirt and jeans, the same thing as Craig, immediately he stepped out, Jane looked at the gorgeous Gregory

“Every day I love to see your handsome face. I love you, where are you going?” 

“I and Craig are going on a ride.”

“I am coming with you, I just don't want to be alone.” 

Jane presses a kiss on his lips, and Gregory is getting irritated. 

“We should go on now.” Craig doesn't want his cousin to get irritated and that is the only way he can stop it, Gregory smiles.

“Wait! Are we going without the security?” 

“Yes, it's just us.” 

“What? I can't possibly go out without security.”

“It's an adventure.” 

“What stupid adventure Gregory? The last time you went on this stupid adventure of yours, what am I even saying? It's just yesterday, you almost lost your life.” 

“I wasn't attacked, it's just a cab that was stolen.” 

“Gregory, I will not risk my life for that stupid shit you call adventure.”

“Then stay, the last time I checked you were not forced to join us.” 

“Boss!” he knows that Craig wants to calm him.

“Jane, you have me and the boss, that is enough security for you, don't you get suffocated with those securities?” She just nodded, she knew that Craig was not one she could battle words with. They walked into the private elevator, and in no time they were out, all of a sudden a man was running towards him, his security tried to stop him but he was too fast, Gregory got scared so Craig stood in front of him.

“Sir!” Gregory breathed out when he saw that it was the cabman. 

“What do you want?” 

“Sir, I have been waiting for you but your security didn't let me.” 

“How did you find me?”

“I remember it's this place that you asked to be taken.” 

“Oh! So this is the worthless cabman that made you get attacked?” Jane slapped him in anger. “You thief, where are the things?” Gregory's anger increased, he felt hurt like the cabman was his kid brother. “Jane, what is wrong with you?” She grabbed the cabman's collar

“This idiot is the one that makes you lose your...”

“Stop it!” Gregory jerks her hand from him. He is acting like a big brother who is getting hurt because his little brother is hurt. 

“Hey, why are you here?” Craig said to stop the argument, The cabman gulped his saliva in fear, Craig's voice was cold and without emotions, his voice was not like his face, he was even more handsome than Gregory, and his broad chest and height could make any woman fall hopelessly in love with him at the first glance. 

“The thing is...” 

“Can't you talk? Thief!” Jane fired him 

He brought out the wallet in fear, Gregory grabbed it, opened it, and immediately he saw the picture was still intact he smiled

Craig knows that the picture belongs to the love of his life, he feels sorry for his kid cousin, he had watched him for years being heartbroken, and he had lost his love before he could even tell her

Craig knows nothing about love, his mom and dad had separated before he could even know what it takes to have feelings for the opposite sex, Each day that passes he sees the pains that his cousin experiences, their love life are almost the same but the only difference is that Gregory had fallen in love even before he turned sixteen to his classmates, but him, he had never fallen for any woman, all he does is play with them, the smile on Gregory's face had made the cabman wonder who the person on the wallet is but he is so scared to ask because of the scary Jane, he turned to leave, Craig pushed Gregory slightly to show him that he is leaving.

“My friend!” He doesn't know what he could call him, the cabman's heart jumps, how can he call him friend when he is not worthy to stand before his feet? 'I am Gregory and you are?” 

“Mark sir!” 

“How did you...”

“I decided to look for the car because I realized that it seems the wallet is very important to you, so I decided to bring it when I find it.” 

“You thief, where are the others? You kept them to yourself.” Jane fired at him, Gregory gave her a killer look, so she just stopped

“You don't know how happy you made me. So where are you able to get your cab?” 

“No, it's destroyed but I am free because the money you gave me is enough to settle for the cab, so I need to apply for another hire purchase.”

“That is not important, my assistant will give you money for a new one.” Saying that, he walked back, and Craig made a quick transfer to him, they walked to enter the car, Mark was excited, he didn't wait this time, he ran to the car. 

“Thank you, sir, you don't know how happy you made me if there is anything you want me to do, I will do it, you can always call me when you are in town, and I can come drive you.” Gregory looks at Craig. 

“Maybe you could drive us today, like our tour guide.” 

“No problem sir!” Craig throws the keys to him, and Jane's head runs three sixty degrees.

“Are you two for real? How can you trust your life with someone you barely know?” 

“Who said I don't know him?” “Gregory!”

“Yes, his name is Mark, what else do you think I need to know about him?” 

“I can't believe this, I will not let a stranger put my life in danger”

“Then step down.” 

“Boss!” Craig called Gregory and Jane sighed badly, but what can she do? 

“Fine, let's go.” 

“Sir, where do you want me to take you, sir?”

“Gregory! That is my name.” Mark is overwhelmed with his behaviors, he is wealthy but humble. “Take us anywhere but not some fancy place, like a remote place...”

“Gregory!” He looks at Jane with anger, she knows that Gregory is not happy with her, so she just lets it slip. “Craig, what did you think?”

“That will be awesome.”

“Shall we?” 

“Sure, Sir... Sorry Gregory!”

“Grace; you are here early?” “Where is Whitney?”

“Oh! She has gone home since last night, there was a fight outbreak in the clubhouse.” 

“What?”

“Is she fine?”

“Hope nothing happened to her.” 

“Are you two talking about me?”

“Love, thank goodness you are here, did you have fun last night?” 

“Yes, at first I was having fun but then a fight broke out at the club and I was...” She paused she knows that Cathy will freak out if she tell her that she was almost raped.

“What happened?”

“Go on and tell me.” 

“Oh please stop, I will go back tonight, I will get a call  card, I need to call George.” “Better do, he is worried sick about you.” She walked away and Cathy turned to Grace. 

“Cathy; I saw one very handsome man at the clubhouse, he is very handsome and his accent is mind-blowing, I met him when I was looking for Whitney...”

“What?”

“So you left Whitney to go flirt with a man?” 

“Will you stop acting like she is a baby? She is not a baby, she is...”

“I know she is twenty-two, but you know she is not like you, that go after...” She paused she knew what she was about to say was bad and it would hurt Grace's feelings, among the three of them, Grace is the flirtatious one in fact, she is just twenty-three but has had more than ten boyfriends and she sleep with men for money. 

"Go on and tell me what you were saying, do you want..."

"No, I was just worried that George would kill me if he found out I let something bad happen to his Princess." That angers Grace, she had loved George from way back even before they met Whitney, whenever George cared for Whitney she hated it, what she didn't know is that George never loved her because of her way of life, he had warned Cathy times without number to stay away from Grace but he just can't stop her since he can't do anything about it, he had warned her to keep Whitney from Grace. 

"Anyways, you said the man is very handsome?" 

"Yes, I plan to go back to the clubhouse." 

"Did he ask you to come back?" 

"No, I thought I could meet him." 

"I wish you success but where is this girl?" 

"I am sure, she is..."

"I am here, you girls just can't stop talking about me." 

"Who is talking about you? Have you reached George?" 

"No, my phone is down." 

"Okay, I want to get something down the road, let us go." The three walked to the road, and Cathy's phone rang. 

"Oh! Here, I know is you, he wants to talk to." Whitney gets the phone. 

"Hello, big brother!" Grace's face turned sour. 

"Hey little cupcake, how are you?" 

"I am fine, when are you coming back?" 

"I don't know for now, how is that hooligan of a boyfriend of yours?" She gulped her saliva. 

"I heard that you went to him." She looks at Cathy. 

"Don't look at me, I didn't say anything." She was still on call, Gregory and his crew were riding along the road, his eyes caught Whitney, and he closed his eyes in denial 

"Boss, what is it?" 

"Craig, can you stop annoying me?" Craig chuckled, he looked at her, it was her. "Stop the car.'

"Why? Is there something wrong sir?" 

"No, can you please stop the car?" He nodded his humbleness made Mark's heart glad, he pulled over, and Gregory didn't wait for anything, he darted toward the girls. 

"Fine, I know you don't want to talk about him but you should stay away from him because he is a no good boy, tell that naughty sister of yours that I will send you Money."

"Hi!" Gregory greets them, Grace smiles, she remembers him for the previous night. 

"You are the boy from the clubhouse last night."

"Oh! It's you for last night, you...you are the girl." She smiled but she noticed his eyes were on Cathy, her face grew sad. "Excuse me!" Cathy looks at him. "Can you help me touch the young lady?" Hearing that Grace's hatred for Whitney increased, Cathy touches Whitney, Her eyes wide, she looks at Gregory who is more handsome and smells nice and Rich 

"Don't you remember me, Whitney?" He said. 

"Greg!" Hearing her call him that made him happy, she had never called him by his full name, whenever she called him that, his heart rejoiced, he smiled, he was looking at her but all of a sudden her face changed, the angry Jane was walking towards them, Cathy was ready to defend her, she closed her eyes in anticipation of the slap but unfortunately the slap was not further coming, Gregory held Jane hand just in time, he look at her and smile

your simplicity and innocent drive me nuts. He talked almost in a whisper but Cathy heard, he turned to Jane. “What is this?”

“Let go of my hand.”

“Go back to the car, I will be there shortly.” She freed her hand from him and walked back to the car in anger, Craig was already out of the car, and he walked towards them. 

“Cathy let's go.” She wants to leave with Cathy but Gregory holds her hand. "What is it?"

"Not so fast, Your number." She didn't say anything she just got his phone that was stretched in phone of her, she put the number. "Come on..."

"Boss!" Gregory gives him a killer look, Whitney looks at him when he says that but Gregory doesn't want her to know that he is wealthy, Craig keeps a straight face. "Are you not going to introduce me to your friend?" Grace's eyes widen, she knows Gregory is handsome but this man in front of her is more handsome, are they some kind of mini-god or alien, her thoughts were messed up. 

"Ahem! Meet my cousin Craig and Craig meet my friend Whitney." Craig stretched out his hand and they both shook hands, he didn't feel that they just met because he had heard a lot about him. 

"Nice to meet you."

"Me too." Grace wants to flirt with him but it seems his eyes are fixed on Cathy whose hair is neatly tied in a ponytail, she isn't wearing makeup but she is cute, in his eyes, she is like a goddess. 

Grace just gave up, Whitney noticed it, and she pulled Cathy. 

"Meet my lovely best friend Catherine but I call her Cathy." Cathy nodded to him, he wanted to take her hand in his but he realized that Cathy's hand was filled with things she carried, he smiled, Gregory noticed it, he was also shocked, did his cousin just smile at a girl? And Cathy meets my best friend's handsome cousin. 

Gregory's face gets clothed with sadness, does it mean he is not handsome, Whitney understands his thoughts but the fact that he had called him best friend made him happy a bit, she looks at him. "You are cute too." He smiled, how could she read his thoughts perfectly, Whitney noticed that Grace felt left out. "Oh! Guys, this is also Grace my friend." The two are not that close because Grace is Cathy's friend not has.

"Nice to meet you." Grace took Craig's hand, and she pressed his hand softly, his palm where soft like that of a girl, and he withdrew it, and his hand was back in his pocket and he was back to his cold self, Grace was sad, he isn't comfortable with Grace touch. 

"Can we go now?" 

"Come on Whitney let's go, George will kill me if I don't get his room clean before we leave." 

"So you know and you are there wasting time?" 

"I got to go." Gregory wanted to hug her but she took a step back, he was sad but what could he do, he knew she was scared because of Jane. "Bye!"

The three girls left, and Gregory and Craig went back to the car.

"I thought you were not going to come back. You are flirting right in front of me." 

"Jane, we are in public, Mark please drive. "

Mark started the engine, Jane didn't keep her mouth shut, she had nagged all through the trip, but not a word from him, immediately they got to the clubhouse, The three got into the elevator in no time they were at the condominium 

"Gregory, I need an explanation, you are..." "Please spare me the details." He darts into his room before she can turn, Craig is out of sight. 

"Fine, you two should leave me." She goes into her room. 

"Could you imagine that Jane is such a thorn in my flesh?" Craig wanted to say something but he was calling someone. "Who are you calling?" He didn't reply when Whitney picked up the call. 

"Hello!" Hearing her voice his heart bubbles; he smiles wide, Craig shakes his head, his cousin has never been this happy for years, he sits and watches him. 

"Hi! How are you?"

"I am fine, are you home now?" 

"Yes, I am at my condominium." 

"Whoa! Is the place lovely?" 

"Yeah! It has three rooms, one is occupied by me, my cousin, and Jane."

"Is that the name of the girl?" 

"Yes..."

"Is she your wife?" 

"No!"

"Your girlfriend?"

"No!"

"Your fiancee"

"No!" 

"Then who is she to you?" 

"My betrothed, he had said that and he regretted it."

"Okay, I got to go."

"To where?" She just doesn't want to continue the conversation, she doesn't want to get involved with anyone with a betrothed, her first boyfriend before John, had left her because of his betrothed. 

"I want to cook." She said and ended the call. 

"Why did she end the call?" 

"What were you expecting? You just told her, you have a betrothed and Jane would have hurt her right there if you had not stopped her."

"So?" 

"Boss slash cousin, if you want to be with her then you should break the rules for her," Gregory called her on FaceTime. 

"Why is he calling me on Facetime?" 

"Just maybe he wants to see your lovely face." 

"Will you shut up Cathy?" 

"Yes ma, go on and pick so you see his handsome face too." 

"You are naughty, get out of here." 

"I will tell him, he is cute." She throws the pillow at her and she runs out. 

"Hello, why are you calling me on..."

"I want to watch you cook." 

"I am not cooking again." 

"That is good..."

Craig stood up to leave when he saw that Gregory was talking to Whitney again. "The two girls, I saw with you are they your friends?" 

"Cathy is my best friend."

"Cathy!" Immediately Craig heard her name, and some kind of joy Crept in his heart, he didn't know why, but he just got the urge to hear about her, Gregory noticed, so he intended to use it to tease Craig. 

"So you replace me with her?" 

"No, I didn't, she is special to me." 

"Really?" 

"Yes, she is a very good girl, she is very friendly if you get to know her, you will fall in love with her." 

"Is she decent?" 

"If you like her, I can talk to her, she..." It seems the plan is not working. 

"No, and the girl Grace?" Craig shook his head and left. 

"Oh; your interest had changed." 

"No, I just want to know if my baby is moving with good girls."

"Right, so you said your condominium had three rooms..."

"Yes, it also has a kitchen and a living room."

"Whoa! So you cook there, those special meals, that you used to bring to school?" 

Gregory used to bring her food when they were in college, his mom knows Gregory wasn't much of an eater but he always asks for extra, Whitney is not from Rich home, she was able to attend the same school with Gregory because she had a scholarship, she and her mom barely have enough, so Gregory just get extra pack for her. 

"No, I just ordered, It's mom that could make them."

"I missed those days"

"I missed it too, maybe you could come to the condominium so we can eat together."

"She might not like it."

"Who?" 

"Your betrothed." Saying that he knows she is not comfortable with his betroth. "Don't worry about her and my mom knows I eat with you then." 

"Who did you even tell your mom that share your meal with?" 

"What do you think?" 

"Your friend?" 

"No!"

"Your classmates?"

"No!"

"Then what did you say?" 

"creamy decent."

Saying that, she laughed, the laughter was loud, he had named her that after he had given her a chocolate that had that name, the way she ate it made him Call her after the chocolate, she was still laughing heartily but he didn't find it annoying, she was looking really lovely as she smiles, Gregory just keeps quiet while watching her, when she stops smiling, she noticed the way Gregory was looking at her. 

"Why are you looking at me like that?" 'You are cute when you laugh." She facepalm. "Come on, let me see your face." The way Gregory places his eyes makes him look more handsome, Whitney falls her face pressing the screen of her phone on the couch. "Please! I am not going to bite you, please! Let me see your face..." 

She raised the phone to look at Gregory but her eyes were filled with fear, Jane was right behind Gregory, she didn't wait for Gregory to say a word, she hung on. "Good job! Gregory, what do you take me for?"

"I don't know what you talking about." 

"I am right under the same roof as you and all you could do is call a girl."

"Nothing is going on with me and her." "Really?" She walked to him, placed her hand on his chest, she kissed him trying to control her anger but Gregory pushed her slightly. 

"Stop it!" 

"Why? We do a whole lot of intimacy together why the sudden change?"

"I am not in the mood." She tried to push on but Gregory stood up, she got angry, she just couldn't hold her anger. 

"She is the one in this bloody picture." She throws the picture at him. 

"You like her, you were practically begging her to look at you, you want to be the one touching her, the one who made her heart bubble."

"Jane! I hold no explanation of how I live my life to you, in this relationship there is no commitment, you know that..." She tried to touch him before now when they fought, they made up when she touched him but this day, his heart had found what he longed for.

"You are annoying me at this time." He pushed her hand from him, Jane get more frustrated, and she slapped him, Craig didn't know the two were arguing he pull the knob only to see Gregory's eyes turn red, he knows the next thing will be bad. 

"Did you just raise your hand on me?" No one had slapped him not even his parents, as crazy as his dad, Jeremy could be, he had never dared, he wanted to grab her hand.

"Boss!" He closed his eyes, Jane sighed and walked out, Gregory opened his eyes, he gasped for air, he called Whitney but she didn't pick up, he used his other phone but she still didn't respond, he picked up his car keys. 

"Where are you going?" 

"She is not picking up my calls, I want to..."

"Don't, it's late, you can't possibly be seen alone in this dangerous place."

"Fine, I will go to bed, just let me be." Craig nodded, he wasn't much of a talker but when he was with Gregory, he could smile, laugh, and chitchat for long, but he two was not in the mood.

"Hey babe! Where are you going?" 

"To my house." 

"Why so?" Whitney looked at Cathy, she knew that it wasn't Gregory's call that was making her sad, she had received a message from John shortly after she ended the call with Gregory, he wanted to hug Cathy and cry her eyes out on her shoulder but she held herself and run out, Cathy sighed in frustration, In no time she is back to her house, which is just two lanes away from Cathy's

"Hello Baby!" Whitney was extremely excited when she saw it was John calling her, although she had received a message from John's girlfriend, she picked up with excitement

"Whitney! Don't call me baby." Her heart suddenly stopped. 

"I am not calling you because I still feel a thing for you but to warn you to stay away from me and my girl, you know I hate it when people threaten me, tell your boyfriend."

"Boyfriend?" 

"Yes, don't you know your boyfriend?"

"George!" 

"You are sleeping with him."

"That is not true, he is my brother." 

"Shut up, you slut, when do you have a brother? The last time I checked you were the only one your mom had but it's not my business what you do with your body, just get out and stay off my case." Whitney's tears drop. 

"John! You love me right?"

"No, go to hell with your love." He ended the call while she sulked, the night was way too long for Gregory, he couldn't sleep, and he was waiting endlessly for a new Dawn, Jane was in deep thought even though she swam almost through the noon and went clubbing all night her pain knows no limit before anyone could wake Gregory is gone
