LOGINDigby's POV
As we headed to the dining area, a couple suddenly rushed toward Kelsey.
They shouted at Kelsey, "Kelsey, you ungrateful brat! We took you in when no one wanted you, an orphan. Now you've found rich relatives and plan to ditch us? We're your benefactors!"
My brow furrowed as I glanced at Kelsey.
Her smile vanished. "Wally, Sky, you dare call yourselves my benefactors? I nearly starved under your roof until Catherine fed me. Later, you dumped me with her."
Catherine was stunned. "How did you find me? I didn't tell anyone."
Sky sneered. "We're her legal adoptive parents. You can't claim all the credit."
"Right. Kelsey's family must be wealthy to afford this posh hotel. They should compensate us."
My right hand twitched at my side, Lycan blood surging beneath my skin.
The crystal chandelier dimmed three times. My nails pierced my custom gloves, glowing dark gold beneath my suit sleeve.
Wally and Sky froze—ordinary humans might not sense my werewolf aura, but they still felt primal fear.
Kelsey shielded Catherine, glaring at the couple.
"Dream on. I won't give you a cent. Spike's fight was your fault. You dragged him into a crash, didn't repay your debts, and delayed his treatment, leaving him a vegetable in the hospital."
Catherine's eyes welled up.
Wally seemed uneasy, but Sky acted boldly, lunging at Kelsey.
"I'll teach you a lesson, you brat!"
"Who dares touch her!"
As I strode forward, the marble floor cracked.
Lycan royalty's infrasound pressure shattered Sky's earring pearls, the sound like snapping vertebrae.
Wolf guards in disguise trailed me.
Wally and Sky were terrified, but Sky still snapped, "I'm disciplining my daughter—none of your business!"
I smirked. "She's my sister—when did she become yours?"
Wally's eyes lit up. He rubbed his hands greedily. "You're Kelsey's family? Raising her wasn't easy. Shouldn't you pay us? Without us, she'd have starved."
"How much?"
"Just a million."
Sky signaled, and Wally upped it to five million.
I tsked. "Five million? That's insulting. My sister's worth at least a hundred million!"
A mere five million? That's disrespecting everyone involved!
This is my sister, Digby's sister!
I've spent hundreds of millions searching for her.
Finding her is worth every penny of my fortune.
Wally and Sky gaped at me.
Kelsey snorted. "You want a hundred million? I'd donate before giving you a cent."
"When you locked her in the storage room and withheld food, she was near death. Do you have the nerve to ask for money? A hundred million? Shameless!"
Kelsey comforted Catherine. "Ignore them."
Wally, enraged, swung at her. "You ungrateful wretch!"
My suit sleeve concealed my claws. Lycan blood boiled with fury.
My right kick, fueled by wolf strength, broke three of Wally's ribs—the crack was masked by the background music.
My gloves hid my wolf-claws, which had pierced my palms.
I kicked Wally away, coldly stating, "This money is for those who raised my sister—not you."
I learned from Catherine how despicable Kelsey's adoptive parents were.
As the daughter of my father and a Lycan princess, Kelsey deserved better than this abuse.
Kelsey was startled to see Wally motionless on the ground.
I quickly retracted my claws, my Lycan healing ability closing the wounds.
Softly, I said, "Go with Catherine. I'll handle this."
"But..."
"Trust me. You were alone before, but now you have me. Be good!" The suppressed pressure eased the chandelier's tremor, leaving only five holes in Wally's suit as proof of my momentary loss of control—a detail no one would notice.
Kelsey left without another word, taking Catherine with her.
As I turned, a prickling heat flared at my nape—the precursor to a Lycan blood surge.
My fingers punctured the glove lining, the sensation of tearing parchment mixed with a faint metallic tang.
"You asked for this!" I spat, hearing a guard's tactical boot scuff as he instinctively stepped back—a reflex honed over twelve years at my side.
Third Person's POVLucas tsked—why was this Marcus so obtuse?Kelsey coughed lightly and pulled on Lucas's arm. "Forget it, let's get another one.""No way. If we're buying a phone, it has to be the latest model."This was the first time Lucas was buying his sister a new phone. It had to be the newest and most expensive. He wouldn't settle for anything less.Kelsey heard Lucas and felt a headache coming on. She really wanted to leave this place immediately. She pulled on Lucas's arm and said in a slightly spoiled tone, "As long as it's from you, I'll love it, latest model or not."As long as it was a gift from her brother, she would love it.Lucas felt much better after hearing that.He had to keep a close eye on her.He absolutely couldn't let just any man covet her, especially this divorced, older single man, Marcus. He needed to prevent any contact between him and Kelsey!Marcus heard Kelsey's soft
Third Person's POVKelsey saw Digby's car and thought he had arrived, but it was Lucas who got out.She answered, puzzled, "Lucas, I'm fine.""Your phone was dead. We were all worried sick."Kelsey felt a little guilty. "I accidentally dropped and broke my phone. I was too busy with work to fix it."Craig chimed in to explain, "Yes, Kelsey was busy at the engagement venue for a while. We just got back from there."Lucas asked, surprised, "Kelsey, you went to the engagement venue? When?""I was quite late, about two hours ago, I guess. What's wrong, Lucas?"Lucas glanced at Craig and quickly changed the subject. "Nothing. I'm here to take you home. Let's go."He couldn't discuss this in front of Craig for fear of giving something away.Kelsey turned to Craig. "Craig, you don't need to drive me. You should go rest too.""Alright, drive safe."Craig had to give up the opportunity, but he would have plen
Third Person's POVKelsey walked over to the studio's designated area and said to Craig, "Craig, let's go.""Kelsey, are you okay? I was really worried about you.""I'm fine."Kelsey gave a strained smile. "But this order might be a waste of time. I'll take responsibility for the losses.""Kelsey, our studio is a family. We face difficulties together. There's no way we'd let you handle this alone."Craig glanced toward the engagement site. "But are we leaving now? Is the engagement ceremony really not happening?""Whether it continues or not, it has nothing to do with us anymore. Craig, there's something I've been hiding from you—I have a personal conflict with Angela. She intentionally hired me to design this ceremony for a specific reason."Craig thought, "I knew it."Kelsey definitely had a connection to the Larsons. Otherwise, how could she safely walk away after having a conflict with Angela?Craig's sm
Third Person's POVKelsey was stunned. Didn't he know this was his engagement party? How could he say that in front of Angela? Wasn't he worried Angela would cry?Sure enough, the next second, Angela cried out, "Marcus!"Sidney yelled, "Then what about Angela? What happens to her?"Kelsey heard Sidney and had the exact same question.Wasn't today Marcus's engagement day?Was his mind unclear when he told Mia "She is my Luna"?Couldn't he see Angela's tearful, pure act?Angela was wearing a wedding dress today, looking as innocent as an angel. Didn't Marcus notice? While Kelsey was rambling through confused thoughts, Marcus walked toward her.She had been looking up at him so long her neck was starting to hurt.Only then did she realize: this man was really tall.Marcus stood in front of her, his narrow eyes fixed on her.Kelsey felt uneasy, uncomfortable under his intense stare.
Third Person's POVCraig stood outside, annoyed that he hadn't managed to greet Kelsey earlier. His coworker whispered, "Boss, Kelsey was so brave! Wasn't she scared?"Craig had been too startled to step in.But then he remembered Kelsey's brother was related to the wealthy Larsons. Maybe this was just an internal feud among the elite, and he shouldn't worry about it.However, it also proved that Kelsey's background was more complex than he thought.Otherwise, how would she dare to stand up to Angela and Mia like that?Inside the engagement venue, only a few people remained.Kelsey had meant to take some photos with her phone, but remembering it was broken, she gave up.Mia scrambled up from the ground, staring at Kelsey. "Angela, have the bodyguards grab her! I'm going to teach her a lesson today!"Angela put on an innocent act. "Kelsey, you were clearly the one who started it. You should apologize, or this won't
Third Person's POVAngela stepped forward. "Digby, what is so urgent?""Company business."Digby offered an excuse, not telling her the truth. After the three men left, Angela stood alone. Her eyes instantly turned cold, her heart filled with resentment. It was her engagement day, and her own family was abandoning her halfway through?Angela recalled the adoption dissolution agreement Digby had given her, and her heart with filled with anger. She had spent so many years in Silver Moon that she already considered herself the Alpha's sister. How could she willingly be cast out?No matter what it took, she would not leave the Larsons.Just then, Mia walked over. "Angela, why did all your brothers leave?"Angela immediately put on a different face. "Something urgent came up at the company, so they had to leave. They're all very busy, just like Marcus. He only had to leave because of work."Mia felt somet
