It is five thirty a.m. The call of Muslim prayers from every corner of the street inaudibly creeps into her hearing, She stretches her limbs and her whole body for a while, finally opens her eyes to adjust to the darkness of the room. She gets up from her laying position and sits down on her bed; that "there's no difference between the foam and mat."

She ambles out of her room and checks their compound to see her mother, knowingly the  father would already be in the masjid. She couldn't see any sign of her mother which is unusual but decides to pray, maybe she's not up  yet. With that thought she performs ablution and goes back to her room to pray.

Holistically, performed her salat (prayer), supplicated her daily azkar,   after a long seat on the Tabarma (mat), she immediately stands up and heads out for her  morning chores, since she would be going out a bit early for her morning lectures.

Until now She didn't see her mother on sight which is unlike her. She walks to their room and said Salam but gets no reply after waiting for some minutes she walks in. But to her ultmost surprise she sees her mother laying down.

"Umma. What happened"? She said, a bit panicked sitting close to her. She touches her forehead with her hand to check her temperature but impulsively takes her hand. "Umma you're burning. What happened? talk to me" she said almost at the verge of tears. She detest seeing her Umma being sick or worried.

"Don't worry diyata. It's just a fever" her umma said in a hoarse voice.

"Don't say that. You're burning and you're telling me it's just a fever, Haba Umma. Wait let me get a water and a towel" without waiting for her Umma's reply she hurriedly walks out of the room.

She returned shortly after with the water and towel. She dips  the towel inside the water, squeezes it and places it on her forehead. She repeats such for some minutes before her temperature calms down a little bit and she slept off.

The father enters the compound  while she's sweeping "Inna kwana Baba"she said to her father feebly.

"Lafiya diyata. Har kin Fara aiki?"

"Ehn"

"Toh madala. Hurry up and finish so that you won't be late for your lectures"

"Humm, dama Baba I will not be going to school today"

"And why?, if I may ask"

"Umma is sick and I want to look after her when you're not around"

"And with whose permission are you staying at home?" He asks with a bit rash voice which she keeps mute.

"Answer mu" he asks again in same tone

"Dama"

"Dama what?. Toh let me tell you sound and clear. You see that school, you must go. And about your mother I will not be going anywhere. So better hurry up and finish your work and leave. I don't want you to be late for school" with that he entered their room where his wife is laying down sleeping peacefully.

Homely, tehezzb is done with everything that needed to be done in the house, she even prepared the breakfast and took to her parent's room. "Baba nagama"

"Yauwa. Yin hakuri diyata. I'm sorry for raising my voice at you earlier. But you know I don't mean to. I don't want you to miss this golden opportunity, it's for you to learn"

"It's okay Baba. I understand let me get going. My regards to umma when she wakes up"

"I will. Take this with you" he said, bringing out  money from his pocket to give her "Baba leave it. Add it up to Umma medication money. I still have some change with me"

"Are you sure?" he asked

"Yes. I am" comes her reply

"Allah maki Albarka diyata. Start going I don't want you to be late" she left the room quietly and headed for school.

Tehzeeb couldn't get Keke on time till after some minutes before she could get one, which she knows without a doubt that she will be late. She arrived at the school and hurriedly walk to the lecture's venue, unfortunately for her the lecturer was already around.  Reluctantly, She tries to go in maybe she would be allowed to enter to take the lecture. Upon taking a step to enter Madam Maryam cautions " Don't you dare me young lady. Get out of my class" with that being said she continues with her lecture

Mrs Maude have rules and regulations, among her rules no one enters her class after she had entered. Tehzeeb couldn't sit because there was a probability that Mrs Maude would be giving them a test which she doesn't want to miss but has no other option. She stands close to the window to gain some knowledge even though she'll not be allowed to sit in the class.

Mrs Maude left the class without giving a test just her normal attendance which Tezheeb was a bit relief since this her first time of missing her class "Tezheeb" someone calls from her behind  which she turns and comes face to face with her friend.

"Ke lafiya?" Her friend asked in concern

"Inna fa lafiya kawa"

"What happened? You look dull and came late for the lecture when you know it's Madam Maryam lecture we're having this morning".

"Madam Maude aside for now since there is no test just attendance" She said before telling her the reason why she was late. "Umma was a bit sick this morning that's why I was late"

"Eyyah. Allah Kara mata sauki. Don't worry dear. I know how worried you get when umma is sick. But I promise she will be fine"

"Nagode"

"Let's go for our next lecture since it's just two lectures we're having today after that you can leave" with that they both walk out to their next lecture without saying a word.

Tehzeeb is physically in the class but all her attentions and thoughts are at home. She is eager to go home to see what's happening to her Umma. She is so lost in her own thought thinking of what happening at home. She was lost in her thoughts and was no following the lectures until Khadija touched her. She turns and faces her before she raises her eyebrows in question. "You're not listening babe. Atleast concentrate a little bit"

"I'm sorry. Just worried about Umma that's all"

"I know and she will be fine. Now listen and listen attentively"

"Thank you" with that she faces the lecturer to listen to what the lecturer is teaching. Immediately the lecturer left she Sprints out of the class like someone that's being chased without even waiting for Khadija to say goodbye.
