45. Low key career

As soon as I opened the door to Caspian’s car, a bouquet was shoved in my face. “Lilies, your favorite.”

“No hi or hello.” I laughed, taking them from him before settling in the passenger’s seat.

He grinned and inched closer to help buckle my seatbelt. When he was done, he kissed me shortly. “Hi, baby. You taste like wine again.”

I laughed again. “You’re impossible.”

For the week I’d been staying with him, Caspian was acting like my boyfriend. Just as he said, he was getting me gifts I never asked for. In fact, the bag currently on my arm was bought by him. He wanted to take me shopping so I could get whatever I wanted but I drew the line at that. I think he sometimes forgot that I had my own money.

He transported me to and from work and sometimes took a little detour so we could spend time together. Well, he called them dates but they were always spontaneous so they didn’t count for me.
