ROSELINE’S POV

“Florian!” I screamed again, my voice cracking as I pushed past Gabriel, ignoring his shouted warning behind me.

“Roseline, wait!” Gabriel’s voice thundered through the study, but I didn’t stop, couldn’t stop, not with Florian already swallowed up somewhere in the darkness ahead, chasing after a man who had already killed so many people without hesitation.

I squeezed through the narrow opening in the bookshelf, the stone passage beyond cold and damp, pressing in tightly around me

  • Tempted by my Godlike boss   CHAPTER 125: A single shot

FLORIAN’S POVThe gun fired. The sound exploded violently through the narrow stone tunnel, deafening and sharp, echoing painfully off the walls surrounding us. A blinding, searing pain tore instantly through my upper arm, hot and immediate, my vision flashing white for a fraction of a second before the world snapped back into focus.“Florian!” Roseline’s scream echoed sharply behind me, terror ringing clearly through her voice.I didn’t have time to process the pain fully, adrenaline surging violently through my veins as Adrian twisted sharply, trying desperately to wrench his wrist free from my grip. We crashed hard against the stone wall together, the impact jarring painfully through my already injured arm, though I refused to let go, refused to give him even a single second to regain control of the weapon still clutched tightly in his hand.“Let go,” Adrian snarled, his composure completely shattered now, desperation and fury twisting violently across his face as we struggled fierc

  • Tempted by my Godlike boss   CHAPTER 124: Face to face

FLORIAN’S POVAdrian’s hand remained steady on the gun, though something in his expression shifted slightly, the earlier cold calculation softening into something quieter, almost sorrowful.“You want to know something, Florian?” he said, his voice low, almost gentle now, completely unlike the man who had threatened us only minutes ago. “I never wanted things to go this far.”“Then why did they?” I asked, keeping my hands raised slowly, my heart still pounding rapidly in my chest despite his softened tone.“Your father,” Adrian said quietly, his eyes distant now, lost somewhere in memories clearly still raw despite the years that had passed. “He started all of this the moment he decided he deserved everything, our father’s approval, our father’s company, the woman I loved first, before he ever noticed her.”“That’s not true,” I said firmly, though uncertainty flickered briefly at his words. “You’re twisting the past to justify everything you’ve done.”“Am I?” Adrian said, his voice sha

My phone’s flashlight trembled slightly in my shaking hand as I moved quickly forward.“Roseline!” Gabriel called out again, his footsteps echoing rapidly behind me now as he followed, along with two officers Reeves had quickly assigned to join us.“He went this way,” I said breathlessly, my light catching faint scuff marks along the dusty stone floor.“You shouldn’t have come,” Gabriel said sharply, though he made no move to stop me now, clearly understanding it wa

  • Tempted by my Godlike boss   CHAPTER 122: The raid

FLORIAN’S POVPolice flooded through the main entrance within moments, dozens of officers moving quickly and efficiently through the estate, shouting commands, securing rooms one by one. Detective Reeves, the man Diane had been working with, appeared at the front of the group, his expression sharp and focused as he scanned the chaotic scene before him.“Florian Hollis?” he called out, spotting me quickly among the crowd.“That’s me,” I said, stepping forward with Roseline still close beside me.“Detective Reeves,” he said, extending a hand briefly before his attention shifted rapidly toward directing his officers. “Diane filled us in earlier tonight. We had a unit already stationed nearby, ready to move the moment we got confirmation you were here.”“Adrian was just here,” I said quickly. “He had men, weapons, he was ready to —”“We saw several of his men retreating through the east wing,” Reeves said grimly. “We’ve got most of them contained already. But Adrian himself?”“He was righ

  • Tempted by my Godlike boss   CHAPTER 121: Standoff

FLORIAN’S POVThe moment Adrian spoke, Gabriel’s men shifted instantly, moving quietly but decisively into tighter formation around us, their weapons raised steadily, eyes flicking rapidly between the armed men now surrounding the room on every side. The air grew thick, suffocating almost, every breath feeling heavier than the last.“Nobody move,” Gabriel said quietly, though his voice carried a steel edge beneath the calm.Adrian’s men held their positions, awaiting further instruction, their expressions blank, professional, clearly well trained and unbothered by the tension crackling dangerously around us.“This doesn’t have to end badly,” I said carefully, my eyes locked steadily on Adrian, searching for any sign of hesitation I might be able to use.“You’re right,” Adrian said calmly, his earlier composure fully restored now, cold and controlled once again. “It could end very simply, actually. One quick decision on my part, and every single problem I’ve faced these past months dis

FLORIAN’S POVA soft hum echoed suddenly through the darkness, and a moment later, dim emergency lights flickered weakly to life along the hallway walls, casting everything in a pale, eerie glow.Adrian stepped calmly into view from the shadows, his hands tucked casually into his pockets, an easy, unbothered smile resting on his face like none of this troubled him in the slightest.“Forgive the theatrics,” he said smoothly, his voice carrying that same calm, unsettling tone I remembered from the record store all those months ago. “I find darkness has a way of reminding people exactly how little control they actually have. Every light in this house, every lock, every camera, all of it answers to me, and me alone.”“You cut the power,” Gabriel said, his weapon still raised steadily, though his eyes flicked warily toward the shadows still lingering at the edges of the room.“Of course I did,” Adrian said simply, spreading his hands slightly, as if the answer should have been obvious. “I
