Axel’s POV

We were standing right by Mila’s locker, scowling at anyone who even looked in our direction. My jaw was locked so tight my teeth ached. A group of girls were gossiping, stealing glances at us, and giggling loudly as they walked past. I shot them a deathly glare that made them immediately shut up and scurry off.

Beside me, Aaron was pacing like a caged animal, his face flushed with anger.

  • Tempting The Twins   Walls are closing in…

Mila’s POVI ran out of the lab before Axel could even turn around, practically running down the corridor. I didn’t stop until I reached my locker. The moment I got close to it, I froze. The words SLUT and WHORE were written in bold, but other words had been added. Bitch, hoe—the other words were indecipherable, but surely different variations of the word slut.My chest heaved deeply as I blinked repeatedly. Tears blurred my vision as I grabbed the sleeve of my hoodie and started scrubbing my locker frantically, pressing against the metal as hard as I could, desperate to wipe the words off. But the marker wouldn’t come off. It only smeared, leaving an ugly dark stain behind."How could you want your mother’s man, Mila?" my mother’s cold, accusing voice echoed in my head."Whore, slut…” I heard Tiffany’s high-pitched voice in my head."Are the boys in your class not enough for you?" my mother’s voice cracked as she asked me, truly

I shot them a deathly glare that made them immediately shut up and scurry off.Beside me, Aaron was pacing like a caged animal, his face flushed with anger."I still can't believe you're standing here acting like this isn't your mess," Aaron hissed, jabbing a finger at my chest. "She’s doing this because she's your partner, man. She’s in love with you! It’s her insane jealousy that made her set her sights on Mila in the first place, and now Mila is the one paying for it!""Ex," I snapped back, shoving his hand away. "In case you forgot, she's my ex. I didn't ask her to do any of this.""Could've fooled me," Aaron snarled, his voice rising enough to attract stares in our direction. "Tiffany set her

  • Tempting The Twins   The breakup

Mila’s POVIt felt like the air had been sucked completely out of the bathroom, and I could barely breathe.Paris stumbled back against the wall, looking at me as though I’d slapped him. His face had gone pale, and his mouth hung open. “What?” he whispered. “Mila… are you out of your mind? You think I did this? I don’t even talk to that bitch! I don’t like her, even!”“You’re the only one in this whole school who knows!” I yelled, tears running down my face. “I didn’t tell a single soul in this town about my stepfather! Not Carol, not the twins, not even my own father—nobody! I only told you! You’re the only one I told about my silly crush. And now, it’s pinned to the top of the school group chat? How else would Tiffany know it?!”“I didn’t tell her!” Paris shouted back. His sharp green eyes were filled with anger. “I would never do that to you! How could you even stand there and accuse me of something so disgusting? I’ve been sick to my stomach a

  • Tempting The Twins   Accusation

Mila’s POVWalking through the main doors of Weston High felt like walking into the scene of one of my nightmares, only this wasn’t the dream world; this was real. The moment the heavy glass doors shut behind me, I could instantly feel the change in the hallway. The usual noise of students laughing and talking at the top of their voices died down as soon as I walked in. Every pair of eyes turned in my direction; it was like I was stuck in a haunted house.I shoved my hands deeper into my hoodie pockets, keeping my head down and my eyes on the floor. My palms were sweaty, and my heart wouldn’t stop pounding.“Look, she’s actually here,” a girl giggled nearby.“Guess she’s not hiding anymore,” a guy replied, letting out a whistle. “Hey, Mila! When are you gonna give me a turn?”A group of students near the water fountain burst out laughing. I bit the inside of my cheek hard enough until I tasted blood. Tears stung the inner corners of my ey

  • Tempting The Twins   Our Perfect Girl

Mila’s POVCarol stopped and turned to me. “What?” she asked softly, a look of concern on her face.“I… I thought it was my period, but it didn’t come,” I lied, my voice shaking. “It was just one of those women things!” Another lie. But it was better than telling them the real reason I’d been hiding in my room.“Oh, sweetheart.” Carol sat beside me on the bed. “It’s okay. You can eat your ice cream and have the tea afterward. Are you sure you don’t need anything else?”I shook my head. She gave me a small smile before getting up. “Well, I should go. You and your father were—”“Please stay,” I blurted out.Her face beamed with smiles as she came up to sit on the other side of me.Before I knew what I was doing, I reached for both of them and pulled them into a hug, burying my face against Carol’s shoulder.“Thank you,” I managed to say.Carol rubbed my back while Dad rested a hand on my arm. “Wh

  • Tempting The Twins   Caught in a lie

Mila’s POVThe next morning, I stayed in my room for as long as possible. I didn’t want to see anyone, especially Axel and Aaron. But it was time for breakfast, and I knew I couldn’t hide upstairs forever.I finally dragged myself out of bed and went downstairs. When I walked into the dining room, Dad and Carol were already at the table with the twins.“Good morning,” I greeted quietly.“Good morning, sweetheart,” Carol replied with a smile.“Morning, Mila,” Aaron said.“Morning,” Axel added.I could feel both of them looking at me as I pulled out a chair and sat down. I kept my eyes on my plate, picking up my fork and helping myself to some eggs. For a while, I ate quietly, pretending not to notice the way Axel and Aaron kept stealing glances at me.I reached for the pitcher of orange juice in the middle of the table, but before my fingers could touch it, two hands reached for it at the same t
