Chapter 5 -The Lunch

Chapter 5

Crystal POV

“A lunch with my co-conspirators,” I tease as we are seated at table for four in the back. 

“He made a reservation for four,” Patrick huffs.  “He forgets we can count and he is stupid.”

“I am sorry,” Crystal smiles at Patrick.  “I know you are baring the most of this.”

“Never question my loyalty, Alpha,” Patrick shakes his head. 

“I just got the text, he is caught up at a networking event,” Jared shakes his head.  “What the hell is he networking?”

Crystal giggles with excitement.  “How is he going to explain the hour we spend on the couch?”

Jared shakes his head.  “I don’t know if after last night and this morning I can do anything.”

“Alpha broke her mate,” Tina jokes with Patrick. 

“Alpha is Alpha for a reason,” Patrick teases back. 

I slide my hand from Jared’s knee up to his dick.  He instantly becomes hard under my palm.  

“I don’t think he is too broken,” I kiss his cheek and he turns to kiss my lips.  “Are you really angry with me?”

Jared looks at me.  “I am just hoping, beyond hope that you will come to you senses and we can confront them together.”

I kiss his nose.  “That is a sweet dream.  But unlike your dreams of escaping poverty, coming to America to become a billionaire CEO and mated to an Alpha, that is most unlikely to come true.”

"Being mated to a Alpha was never a dream of mine," Jared teases me. "I was thinking a sweet submissive Omega.  Like a housewife type. Maybe a blonde."

I laugh.  "And what do you think of the goddess's choice for you?"

Jared looks at me tenderly.  His gaze always sends chills down my spine.  He is taking me in and I don't feel judged at all.  The way he looks at me with amazment behind his eyes.  I know the answer I'm about to get.  

"I can't think about what I did to make the goddess's believe I am worthy of you," Jared answers.  "I thank her everyday and strive to be worthy of the goddess before me.  I love you."

"I love you too.  Even when I'm petty and almost mean?"  I ask batting my eyes. 

"Even when you are actually mean.  I still love you.  That may make me toxic, but knowing you are just as obessed with me, means we are toxic together," I smiles at me. 

"We poison to anyone who tries to come between us," I lean closer. 

"Hell yes," Jared whispers before kissing me.  

We turn in our seats and Jared is about to pull me to his lap when Tina clears her throat.  

"Sorry," Jared and I say as we return to our menus.  

Tina and Patrick shake their heads and laugh across the table.  We eat lunch and laugh like the old friends we are. 

Back at the office, Amilee looks very smug.  She has had her hair down all day but now it is up in a high ponytail showing off the hickie below her right ear. 

Tina and I hide our giggles in our lattes, gifts from Jared after lunch.  I think he thinks if he plies me with caffeine I will call all this off.  My adorable mate.

I am going over the financial projections when I hear Amilee outside the office. 

“Mrs. Laine had a call from a Walter who demanded a meeting today,” Amilee is not being quiet and I try not to laugh too much. 

“I told you not to set meeting during that time.  I cancelled it,” Tina says sharply.  “Now please return to your desk and organize those files.”

At 2:30, Jared is outside my office. Tina must not be at her desk.

“Hello, Mr. Laine,” I hear Amilee flirt.  “Lunch was amazing.  I was so full.  You really know how to fill my empty spaces.”

Jared ducks into my office and looks green.  I try not to laugh and he looks like he is about start lecturing me again.  I pull my shirt off to distract him. 

“That is playing dirty,” Jared whispers. 

“Desk or couch?”  I bat my eyes.  

“Like that is important,” Jared pulls me against him covering my mouth with his. 

We both undress and take the time to look each other over.  On his collarbone, normally covered by his shirt, the C covered in vines is glowing.  I know the J on my collarbone is pulsing.  We smile at each other, our naked bodies a work of art for the other to look at. 

Some women worry about standing naked in front of their partners.  Worried about being judged.  But the look on Jared’s face fills me with Superwoman confidence.
